Since 2007, our goal is to create an incredible client experience while maintaining our high standards for ecological sustainability and local sourcing of ingredients. Rather than have set packages that include services you don't want or need, we provide our services a la carte, allowing you to pick and choose what you want us to take care of, and leaving off what isn't important to you.
Let us know what your budget is, and we will walk you through the process, letting you know what we're capable of doing for that amount, as well as how much it would cost to provide all the services you'd like. As a boutique catering company, we aim to create memorable experiences that reflect our clients' needs, so your event doesn't feel like anyone else's event except your own.

Services
We are proud to be the first and original locally sourced caterer in the Washington DC area, with strong support of local farmers, bakers, cheesemakers, fisherfolk, and other producers. Our meat, vegetables, fruit, dairy, and bread are purchased from farmers within 175 miles of the city.
Established in 2007, Eat & Smile Catering continues to grow as a boutique business, working with clients to create unique events that meet their culinary and budgetary needs.Adding to this repertoire, the Eat & Smile team also hosts occasional supper club in our commercial kitchen space: The Bespoke Kitchen, where food-loving diners can find the freshest and best seasonal produce finessed into memorable dining experiences.

Explore our unforgettable experiences from weddings to birthday parties, bat/bar mitzvahs, family gatherings, office holiday parties, galas. Here at Eat & Smile, we consider it an honor to be part of your special day. As DC's first locally-sourced caterer, we bring the bounty of area farms to your wedding table.
This wonderful cheesemaker provides us our delicious fresh chevre and aged goat cheeses. Their award winning Maryland-made cheeses can be found all over the DC Metro area and beyond. Our microgreens can't get any more local than these! Little Wild Things City Farm shares the same quadrant as Eat & Smile, making their home in NE DC just like us.
First things first: Eat & Smile's food is out-of-this-world delicious. The staff is helpful in doing much more than cooking and serving food. They are incredibly accommodating and creative, not to mention they'll work with any budget. Their customer service is outstanding; they were responsive within the hour on 99% of my 66 emails (yes, I just looked up the chain).
We work differently than other caterers in various ways, one of which is that we don't use pre-set packages or pre-set menus. Instead, our proposals - as with our menus - are flexible, and customizable to your needs, both budgetary and culinary. We aim to provide a la carte options from which you can pick and choose - let us know what you like, and what you'd like more/less of.

Attended an event catered by eat and smile. There were multiple plates and I am sorry I did not get to try them all. Delicious! Salads yummy. Cheese plate great. Berry pie wonderful. Cauliflower purée delicious as well. Service was good. Only issue was clean up staff a little to eager to take my plate before I finished.

Booked a make up wedding dinner with them for guests who weren't able to change plans after we were forced to cancel our wedding last October because of the NorCal wildfires. The entire experience was pleasant. Eilish was great for the planning of everything, and Oliver and his team showed up on time and knocked the entire dinner out of the park. High quality food and service.

If you ask questions and inquire about processes, and prices (especially when they say they will offer ice at $2/pp when you have a cocktail on the menu), you run the risk of being told “ in a strange turn of events, we actually have been contacted by someone planning a large party who engaged in conversations with us a few months ago and just came back to us this morning.” This is by far the worst interaction I have ever had. I escaleted my frustration to the manager Katie, and that quote is what she sent me, after never asking me what my frustrations were. I usually don’t validate bad reviews

Hire Eat & Smile for your next catering need and you and your guests will be gushing for weeks about how amazing the food and service was! We cannot say enough great things about this group of people. Katie was our point of contact for the planning process. From the first phone call to the last email right before our wedding, she was always kind, upbeat, professional and timely. She and Chef Oliver made the entire planning process so easy and was extremely patient with my never ending list of questions. Michael was our day-of captain/show runner. He too was a delight and kept me confident that

Eat & Smile General Impressions
• Timely in response to my million e-mails containing questions regarding timelines, menu planning, questions with regards to the kitchen available at the venue, etc.
• Unlike the big box caterers in DC (Occasions, Ridge wells, Windows, etc.) Eat & Smile is more of you pick what you want and need and they help to put together exactly what you are looking for – however, with that you need to be mindful of costs as they are individualized vs. one lump sum (recommend maintaining a detailed spreadsheet with your costs)
• Oliver is very friendly and flexible
