Over the years of hiking, we have discovered other trails that are not part of the designated trail system. Yet they are Amazing and beautiful. In other words, you can be in the middle of some of the close mountain parks and find yourself completely alone. One is in Phoenix, and one is in Scottsdale.
Another scenic breath-taking trail. We practice yoga at a magical overlook at about 2.5 miles. It is a challenging trail, with photos, yoga, and stopping, you can plan on 3.5 hours to 4 hours depending on your speed of hiking! So many gorgeous views to take in. From the destination of this hike, you will see the north side of Weevers needle looking south, also in front of it is the beautiful court house rock of the Superstitions.
This trail is one of the busiest trails in Arizona in the fall, winter, and spring months. Where we stop to do yoga is about 3 miles hiking up a canyon. Elevation: between 2,400 - 3,760 feet. At 2.5 miles you will reach, what is known as the Fremont Saddle. There to the north you will see an amazing view of Weevers Needle, the remains of an ancient lava flow, which now resembles a monolith like Devils Head in Wyoming.
Do you want to look at the Grand Canyon without driving another hour to the South Rim? If the answer is yes, get ready for a heart ponding beautiful hike that makes you not miss the high peaks of the Rocky Mountains. This trail has old growth trees, and makes you feel like you can achieve anything in live after you are done.
Another magnificent location, where you feel you are in the Rocky Mountains. You are totally enclosed in mountain peaks from ever direction. But the truth is the area is not mountains it is the reminisce of what is left of what was an incredible tall powerful volcano. The views on this hike take your breath away.
