My car was stolen. When the police found it, it was not drivable. I called my insurance company and they found this tow company. They told me the time estimate was over 2 hours. I settled in for a a long wait.
However, it wasn't more than 15 minutes later when Mario drove up to tow my car home. I can't say enough good things about Mario. He was extremely quick and good at his job. However, even more than that, he was exceptionally easy to talk to and calming. His approach was so personable and pleasant that it took most of the sting out of the experience. My car had a starter problem and needed towing. I scheduled the service through Statefarm, and they sent Golden Gate Towing for the job. The driver showed up 3.5 hrs after the scheduled service, then refused to help me move the car out of the building garage even though I said I could put it in Neutral, and had already specified on the job request that it would be necessary to do this. I have never had a worse experience with a towing company.

My motorcycle battery died on a Saturday morning and this place was able to get me a jump. It took a while for the mechanic to arrive (90 min) but he was able to maneuver a way to jump my battery around the seat. He didn't have the tools to remove the seat but was helpful and polite. It was very expensive so definitely only use this service in an emergency.

I contacted them through my insurance company and all the costs were covered. They scheduled a towing service but wanted me to pay for it even tho my insurance is covering the costs. Insurance company contacted them and they immediately cancelled the service due to their truck broken down. They are master of scamming and extra pricing. NEVER USE THEM

After reading a lot of the reviews....it's obvious most people are mad they don't park their car in appropriate places and have to deal with the consequences of it......you think these guys are bad, ask us SF locals about AutoReturn. Lol I've had multiple experiences with these guys and they are great. Francisco who seems to be the operator/dispatcher is always friendly and informative, prices are MORE than fair (after calling around, I've always gotten the best deal). I screwed up and double parked but arrived at golden gate tow 20 minutes after they arrived with my car..it was still in the garage and not in storage area and was charged the full amount 400+ and treated like I was a criminal. They towed it lass than 3 miles and upon arriving had to wait over an hour to let them finish lunch or whatever before they would let me get my car. They don't charge tax and the security and face masks don't apply to staff or family coming in and out of the locked door you are forced to stand in front of until it is time to pay then you are welcomed in where it

After waiting an hour and a half for another tow company that was sent by nationwide to come rescue us, I called and asked for another tow company to come and help. Daniel from golden gate tow not only came in 20min but he was friendly and awesome. He helped us get our front wheel rental car out of a rough situation and we couldn't be happier with his services. There was a misunderstanding on my part on where to park my car the building owner call this company to tow my car, the problem was the actitud of the tow driver he started yelling at me saying why I decided to parked there and why did I park over night when I tried to explain driver he keep cutting off I get it he didn't want to hear my "excuse" but he didn't have to yell at me just because he could.

Wish yelp added 0 stars . Worst service ever . Paid them there $550 asking fee which is already unbelievable but to add on top of that they charged me extra $150 fee because I came to pick it up after hour . There building says 24 hour service and when I called tow way to pick up my car these guys saying that they are about to close when I've already been here waiting for hours to pick up car . Used Golden Gate towing to remove cars on our business property that have been parked there for months. Francisco was very professional. Called him and got all the information needed. He posted his signs that night and cars were towed 2 days later with no fee to us. I used him at one of our other locations as well. Wish he did the whole Bay Area so we can utilize him at our other locations but he only goes so many miles from his shop which is understandable and smart. If you need towing in the sf bay location I would highly recommend Francisco and Golden Gate. He even followed up with pictures

Much like other reviewers, I wish I could give negative stars to Golden Gate Tow! Seriously, I would rather get towing assistance from a gang of rabid gophers than have to interact with these guys ever again.

As if their outrageously expensive charges are not high enough, they try to cheat the car owners into paying more than what they should.
You call them in the night asking them about your towed car and are shocked to hear it'll cost you $550. You are also suggested to come pick it up right now, for you'll be charged extra if you come tomorrow. You go there in the night only to realize that it could've been just $400 had you picked your car

This company engages in the most pernicious form of price gouging there is. They apply a separate set of rates to the consumers who are obligated to pay them. This is different from traditional cases of price gouging (which are often still illegal) because there is no sudden imbalance between supply and demand like there might be in a hurricane for example.

This is not a spa, no one wants to come here. But it's not deserving of a two star rating. Yea, I had to call 3 times to get emailed a release form, and yea they may not be the fastest moving business, but otherwise service is friendly and the transaction is pretty straight forward.
Given it takes a little while, it would be nice to have a chair or bench outside :)

Wow worst customer service.
It's 4am, I just got off work an hour ago and my car dies on me. I contact my insurance for help and they stated they contacted this company to help me. ETA is 510am so I call them because they say they're local. Once I called, guy picked up and basically said they didn't get a notification from my insurance company. They said the wait time is 2 hours (UHH..... Are you guys busy or what? It's 4 in the morning I doubt you guys have anything planned) and they said (this really ticked me off) YOU SHOULD PROBABLY CALL YOUR INSURANCE FOR HELP.
