Flagstone Financial was founded in 2001 by Cary Michael Cox, who previously had started Vantage Capital Services and Houston Residential Properties. Darren Smith, with his CPA and MBA in finance, was brought on as a partner in 2005 to run the commercial lending division. We offer all mortgage types, though, due to our extensive financial backgrounds we specialize in jumbo & super-jumbo mortgages.

There are many factors that determine your rate and we need to know them before quoting a rate specific to your situation. We do however offer three options to get a quote tailored to your specific set of lending criteria and needs.

The term "conforming" is most often used when speaking specifically about a mortgage amount; however, the terms "conforming" and "conventional" are frequently used interchangeably. These are mortgages that meet the underwriting criteria and loan size that make them eligible for purchase by Fannie-Mae & Freddie-Mac.

Was ok for a year then they started pressuring me to refinance properties that I didn’t want to. Then interest rates went down even further so I lost money on the refi. They would pressure me to close on loans even though I would have to pay out of pocket for the closing. I would avoid this company.

We got a great rate and appreciated that Darren matched a slightly better rate quote that we'd gotten from our then-current lender. I had a lot of questions and am probably more involved than the average customer and Darren was patient with answers and always prompt to get back to me. I would have appreciated a little more communication as we didn't hear when our closing date would be until three or four days before.

Darren was great! He was very knowledgeable, honest and really simplified the home financing process. He was able to get the mortgage pricing I needed in a very short period of time. Further, he stayed involved with the process through closing and even followed up a couple weeks later.

BrianJorda was there anytime I need to speak with him confirming something. He worked as a team with underwriters to expedite pre-approval and closing. He has the experience and judgment you would hope for. He has the people skills and personality that makes him a pleasure to be around. I would recommend Brian to anyone, without reserve. These guys are awesome. I have financed and refinanced 6 or 7 times with Cary and his gang. They are 100% on top of everything all along the way. As difficult as the mortgage business is nowadays, it's so important to have someone 3 steps ahead, anticipating all the potholes.
