My review is an update. My fillings are still strong. I went in for a screening due to a tooth ache and found out that I had a decaying tooth. I was paying out of pocket due to not having insurance and Dr. Minovi arranged payments that I could afford. I am extremely grateful for that. She could have turned me away but she didn't. I got a tooth pulled and 12 fillings BETWEEN teeth. I brush twice a day and my teeth look healthy. FLOSSING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU THINK. This office started out friendly and got steadily worse over the ~2 years I went there. The dental service was fine, at first, while office management was unnecessarily adversarial and unreasonable. For example I was treated as a nuisance for requesting that I be refunded when I was double charged multiple times. My breaking point was when I had severe tooth pain on a Friday and the dentist refused to see me due to capacity. They referred me to someone else who was not in network and would've cost me hundreds of dollars more out of pocket. I had to squat in Minovi's office and refuse

The dentist assistants and both dentists here are quite nice and professional, however, I do not recommend this dentist as their business practices are quite questionable.
The issue comes to the "office management" which seems to consist of just one person. He does not attempt to work with you with in regards costs so that you better understand what you're paying for. He gets frustrated/ impatient if you're not completely clear on what he is saying in terms of costs/insurance coverage, numbers will change without explanation, and lastly...they require a 50% deposit in order

My wife and I had a bad experience here. We'd recently moved from another state and decided to try Minovi out for our new dentist in DC. In my case I was told I needed 3 fillings. I went ahead and did it even though I'd been to my previous dentist 2x per year for many years and hadn't been told I needed fillings. A month later my wife had her first visit and it was the same story -- she was told she needed 5 fillings. For her also, after years with a 2x per year dentist ritual, she was told by this new office she needed lots of fillings.

This dentist advertises widely online highlighting a deal for $99 for uninsured patients. I succumbed to this scam.
Upon entry to the dentist I was treated with extreme hospitality by three secretaries/staff and was made to go in a separate office to sign things (nothing about price). I found the whole demeanor odd like they were expecting me to run at any moment, which I should have. After several visits and a lot of dental work, I grew faithful and comfortable with the services rendered by Dr. Minovi UNTIL March 2013 when I needed dental care that completely altered my thoughts about this establishment, the staff and their commitment to patients. Upon my visit, I was introduced to Dr. Krait, the dentist representing Dr. Minovi, and was completely unprepared for this sudden change and need to start building a new dental relationship. Although the office was well aware of Dr. Minovi's over 6month hiatus, they took months to inform loyal clients and avoid surprises.

I have been a patient of Dr. Minovi's for a few years now, and I am generally pleased. I think she's a solid dentist who really cares about her patients, and I feel like I get a good quality of care here. She uses a lot of technology, like a machine that tests for cavities, but it's proven technology (I checked with the family dentist who also employs it in his practice). However, she's not an over-treater: meaning, in the case of this cavity machine, if something is on the line, she's totally ok watching and waiting, and only taking action if necessary.

Dr. Minovi seems nice, but she's pretty shady. I went in for a routine appointment, and ended up spending $600. First, she charged me extra because I had "sticky plaque." Apparently, it took the hygienist a long time to clean my teeth...therefore, I needed to pay more.
I've never been told that I have "sticky plaque" before, which seems pretty suspicious, as I've been going to the dentist regularly for roughly 20 years. I brush my teeth twice a day AND I floss. But I digress.

I had an AWFUL experience with Dr. Minovi's office. I moved to DC last summer so I didn't have a dentist in the area yet. I got something in the mail about this office so I called to make an appointment. I asked the office manager if their office was covered under my insurance and she said that she would call to verify. She called me back a little while later and said I was all set and I made my appointment.
At my appointment Dr. Minovi told me that I needed more x-rays even though my previous dentist had sent over my recent ones. She said that she couldn't read them correctly.

I initially wrote a really positive review of Dr Minovi, but I recently had a terrible experience --- after being a long-time patient of hers, and after a cleaning where the hygenist said I had "excellent oral health", I found I had to have a root canal because of an ignored cavity. I had complained to Dr Minovi numerous times about the pain in the tooth and she told me not to worry about it. Hundreds of dollars later, I'm now paying for a new crown and root canal.
Everyone makes mistakes, but this is a pretty big deal to me --- I'm not sure I'd continue to recommend her

I found out about Dr. Minovi's office through a mailer that she sent out. Being from a small town where you go to the dentist you do because he's friends with your family, answering a mailer like that seemed sketchy. However, since the mailer promised me 25$ off my first procedure, I went.
