Always delicious, quick, and friendly. The servers were so sweet to my daughter when we were waiting for our take out. They gave her a book and a drawing toy to play with and she even got to choose a candy cane off the tree. They had just opened for the evening and were so friendly and caring. The food is always amazing. The spice is always just right. I had Chicken Korma and garlic naan. This is easily in my top 3 favorite restaurants in OBX. They never miss a beat. Thank you to the very kind waitresses for being so sweet with my daughter!

I got this for take out with my boyfriend I had been wanting to try Indian food for so long so I did my research and decided to give them a try and they DID NOT disappoint. Very flavorful. Everything I had been wanting. The spice levels are accurate. I eat a lot of hot food and so I got the spice level hot and it was perfect. The employees were super nice over the phone helping me decide what to get. Give it a try!

I see this place all the time when going N from OBX and have always wanted to try it. Inside is unexpectedly open and bright, done in what I'll call "beach meets garage chic" decor. We started with the Chaat Papari appetizer. Wasn't expecting a cold dish, but it was DELICIOUS! Both crunchy and a little creamy with a yummy savory sauce, chickpeas, tomatoes, onions, crispy rice cracker bits, and what must have been fresh lemon juice to make it super-bright and fresh! Hubby had the Salmon Tandoori special and loved it. The photo is deceiving, but it was a very large portion. I

Wow! Incredible seafood dishes!! Came here for my birthday--I'm usually vegan, but I decided to splurge as I love seafood and Indian is my fave. The garlic shrimp appetizer was on point, so flavorful we kept the plate to dip our naan in the sauce. I got the Shrimp Korma and it was the best I've ever had (I've gotten it a decent amount of times over the years), big, juicy shrimps, incredible sauce, even tasty as leftovers the next morning. I buried the lead: my boyfriend got the special, Salmon Tandoor, and it was ridiculously, stupidly delicious...perfectly seasoned, very fresh

This is honestly the best Indian food I have had in the states. Everything we had was incredible and was on par with Indian I have had throughout Asia. They will actually add spice to dish if you ask and all of the staff were very friendly. This will definitely be a take out spot of choice from now on - I am so happy to have found such a great Indian restaurant in the outer banks! The garlic naan is incredible. We also had chicken biryani, chicken curry and lamb rogan josh - all perfect.

Called at 8pm to ask if they have space for a group of 11, and were told that we should come right in, that there was no wait. Drove 20 minutes to get here. This restaurant has a sign at the front noting that from 9-10pm, it's take out only, which we were never informed about. Our group arrived at 8:35pm, we told her we called about a table for 11, and the waitress stared at us like we were crazy and then told us that they had told us to come in by 8:30 (the restaurant closes at 10). The staff (one waitress in particular) was incredibly rude, when we said this is a misunderstanding she said

Just left this restaurant. We liked our food, but the dining experience was super uncomfortable! The older waitress felt the need to scream loudly at some of the customers for apparently no reason at all and then felt the need to snarkily address the entire restaurant asking if everyone was happy now. I have never witnessed such a blatant display of disrespect toward customers in my life. We love Indian food but would never recommend this place nor will we ever dine there again if that same waitress is still there. Many of the reviews we have read online have made the same complaint. It is a wonder

We had Trey helping us today on a Saturday afternoon, turning out to be a super busy day- no surprise there! Look at the location and the food rocks. They did their best to accommodate a carnivore, herbivore group of ourselves as well as trying to accommodate shellfish allergies. All foos has a common fryer so attention to allergic folks- the restaurant stuff will go over the allergens well with you IF you remind them about fried food.

Terrible and unfriendly customer service. Did not provide menus but expected us to know what we wanted. So we asked how the beers tasted and were told they taste the same. Slow to bring out drinks. Few items missing from the menus but weren't told until after we ordered them. Food came out lukewarm and bland. Maybe it was an off night for them.

We stopped at Masala Bay Grill as we returned home to DC from an OBX trip. We wanted our desi fix :). We ordered chilli fries, chicken tikka masala, and chicken korma. Chilli fries were good, but salty. But the curries were just not good. They were poor quality, really small servings, but high prices that we usually see at higher end Indian restaurants. Great view but keep driving. Not work the buck.

Excellent food and staff and what a view! We were greeted by the staff and given a nice chance to pick a seat versus being told where to sit which was great when the view is a big part of the experience. We had several questions on the menu which were quickly answered and very politely. We started off with the Bhel Puri which was light and flavorful and a great appetizer. We ordered the Vegetable Korma, Samsavera Kofta and a side of garlic naan. The food came out quickly from the kitchen and perfect the first time. The korma was very good but my preference would have been for it to be a little

We were having a craving for some Indian food and saw Madala Bay was open. We decided to eat at the resturant, outside waterfront. We were the only ones there at that time. It was perfect nice evening, outside with a great view. This is the first time we have eaten at a restaurant since Covid started. I think if the place was packed I might not have eaten in. Service was great, the food is still delicious. We had a party of 4. We had the garlic and plain Naan. Vegetable samosas, samosa chat, sabzi pakora, butter chicken, chicken Tikka masala, panels saag, daul tanka, lamb curry

Great food, friendly staff, amazing view. We eat a lot of Indian food and would recommend the Samosa Chaat, Aloo Gobi Masala, Garlic Nan, Ras Malai, Gulab Jamun, and masala chai tea. Everything was flavorful and fresh. This restaurant is located directly on the bay, and has a great view. The staff wears masks. There is indoor and outdoor seating and takeout.

This place has quite a location, right on the bay. Unfortunately, we went on a rather windy day with our k9 family member and could not be seated as outdoor dining was closed (not their fault). Instead, we ended up doing a take out. Loved the entries but we were quite surprised by the limited offerings on the bread side (no tandoori rotis!?). We went with Naan - and were further disappointed to find that they were undercooked. Perhaps a bad day or just a systematic issue with the oven, hard to tell.
So this was a smack three star experience but the extra star is for the fabulous location, if

This is honestly some of the best Indian food I have ever had. I'm vegan and was so pleased to see the numerous vegan options on the menu. We ordered the veggie pakora, aloo gobi, and banyan bharta (eggplant). Each dish was superb, a delicious blend of flavors and textures.
We ordered take out, but the restaurant was following social distancing guidelines and had lots of space both indoors and outdoors for dining.
Highly recommend Masala Bay! Totally worth the quick drive over the bridge. I'm already planning to time my departure so I can get some food to take home!
