Services
Our shop is located in Manhattan's West Village, an eclectic NYC neighborhood with history as deep and rich as our collection. We moved in October of 2016 to the West Village from our previous location smack in the middle of New York City's famous Diamond District, where heaps of treasure hide behind the hustle and bustle of 47th street.
With a thorough understanding of classic jewelry design and technique, we've worked with hundreds of clients to create heirloom-quality bespoke jewels and engagement rings. The process is quite special and rewarding. Custom work starts with an appointment to discuss your ideas, inspiration and budget.
We lead active lives today, and are busy doing all sorts of things that we wouldn't have if we lived 100 years ago. We want to help preserve your antique gems so they become heirlooms for the next generation so we put together this hand-y antique jewelry care guide. Wear your ring if you are going rock climbing, doing construction projects or doing any heavy lifting at the gym.

Where to begin... I stumbled upon this gem with my best friend, as we were poking around the village, looking at 'funky' rings while my boyfriend was out of town (!!) and just meandering. She saw G&D and said, "Look at those magnolia leaves! Fine antique jewelry, want to go in?" And I, luckily, said sure! We walked in and I saw a gleaming case to my right and said, "You have engagement rings!" and the owner, Ali, said, "We do!" I walked over to the case, pointed, and said, "that one... I want to try on that one"

Rick was super pleasant to talk to (he and his wife run the store). I discovered the store by chance and I am so glad I did. He patiently let me try on many pieces to help me figure out the style I liked the best. I didn't feel rushed at all. He sincerely wants you to find the pieces you love. The store is also simply lovely and they have unique antique rings with a variety to choose from. I will definitely visit again when it's time to buy my ring.

When I bought my fiancée a ring online based on her suggestions, it turned out not to look as well on her as she had hoped. Lesson: always try on rings first to know what you like. Anyway, after looking at a lot of stores in the city, we came to Gray and Davis. Ali and Talia were by far the kindest and most helpful salespeople we talked to all day. They were super knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. The whole experience put the two of us at ease. We were also able to find a beautiful late-Victorian ring for less than the cost of the original! Everything about the process was simple and

Phenomenal experience. Cannot say thank you enough. I was looking for earrings for our tenth anniversary and their staff went above and beyond for us. They asked great questions, listened to my needs so well, and were able to find the perfect pair for us. The new store is such an amazing place to see. We will be back very soon.

I was looking for a vintage ring for almost 6 months with my boyfriend. I basically wanted a ring that I had made up in my... based on a mix of styles I had seen. I want east and west, baguettes and an emerald stone. I wanted a low setting. I wanted my wedding band to ultimately kiss the engagement ring, no large gap. I saw tons of beautiful rings when we went to Gray and Davis, however, I still didn't find that ring. My then boyfriend ended up sending and email description, including a bunch of random photos over to Ali, and within days she must have scoured the earth to find me the perfect

I was in the market for an engagement ring and my fiance-to-be was looking for an antique-inspired look. Gray & Davis turned out to be my first and last stop. Ali was great! I know next to nothing about jewelry and she very patiently helped me out with what I needed to know. She showed us a variety of rings and styles helping us hone in on what we wanted. It was also good to know that if they didn't have what we were looking for they could custom make a ring too. As luck would have it I chanced into a family heirloom. Ali was able to help get the ring cleaned, tightened, appraised, and

If you are looking for true Victorian or art deco pieces this is definitely a place worth visiting. I have purchased a beautiful french cut diamond eternity band here (which is like finding a unicorn) and a really unusual 18k signet ring. They kindly offer layway and don't pressure your payments like some other places that make you sign contracts. The sales people are very sweet and just as excited to sell you a piece as you are to purchase. The prices are a tad high, my only real comment. When it comes shopping for fine antique jewelry this is a good place to start.

Wonderful store! My now husband and I got my vintage engagement ring from here and I really could not be more pleased with it! I knew it was the one for me when I first saw it in the case. I told them I was interested in that particular piece and when I came back with my husband they had cleaned up the ring and made it look fantastic. SOLD! It was a no brainer, we knew we found the one! I can't say much about the transaction itself as my husband took care of that part!
However, I do have to minus one star for the lack of follow up after buying the ring! We both felt that once the ring was

My husband got my beautiful antique engagement from Gray and Davis. After the surprise/proposal he told me about his purchasing experience. He said he was between a few rings at a few different places but then he found the perfect one at gray and Davis. He said not only did he love the ring but he had such a great experience with the people who worked with him. A few months later when I was looking for my wedding band we went back to Gray and Davis and I got to see what he was talking about. Such a wonderful group of people, so friendly and knowledgeable. I ended up finding the perfect antique

I'm not used to having all the attention on me and was very timid about going into a jewelry store to try on different engagement rings with my boyfriend. The selection was small but beautiful. Each piece was unique and beautifully displayed.
Ali put me at ease. She was super knowledgeable and very patient with the questions I had. It was very interesting to learn about the different styles that represent the various time periods. I picked a beautiful ring and cannot wait for my boyfriend to propose to me. The price was reasonable and the experience was more relaxing than I thought.

I can't rave enough about the wonderful service I received at Gray&Davis.
My fiance had wonderful things to say about working with Ali to select my stunning art deco 1930s engagement ring. He raved about her caring and attentive advice.
My personal experience was no less stellar. I emailed on a Friday morning, using the website form, and got an email back in record time. Ali very kindly offered to re-size my ring and told me that if I came in around Noon, they would likely have it finished by 5pm.
I came over at about 12:10, we decided on a size (thanks for the guidance, Ali), and

Ali Cervellero at Gray & Davis is an unbelievable jewerly designer! This is coming from someone who is very particular and difficult to please. I have worked with Ali on several pieces over the last 6 years. The first was a "push present" for my wife after our 1st child was born. I simply showed her a picture of a very intricate ring from Tiffanys that I wanted to get for her with our son's birthstone. She came back with something 10 times better than the picture I gave her, it was amazing and made my wife cry when I gave it to her on her first Mother's Day.

When my [now] husband and I, first discussed getting engaged after 6+ years of dating, my first thought was: its time to start looking at rings! Listen, after 6+ years of dating, my hubby knows me well enough to not choose something by himself. After countless hours trying on various diamond rings all over the Manhattan (5th, Madison, and Soho) I could not find a single thing that I loved, and quite honestly I was more than sick of dealing with all the snobby woman showing the rings, none of which seemed to know anything about different styles or cuts, all they really seemed to be trained in was

My husband found my incredible vintage engagement ring here. I hate to take it off so it gets a lot of abuse and when I accidentally bent it, I had it repaired somewhere else which was a big mistake. There was an ugly melted mark on the side and soon after one of the diamonds fell out. I called Gray and Davis in desperation and sent my ring off the next day. I got it back a week later and it looks just like the first day I put it on! Anna was wonderful to work with and called me right away when they got it to tell me what the jeweler thought it needed and again to let me know when it was on it

Gray & Davis is truly an antique jewelry mecca with great service and a range of price-points. The women running the booth are extremely knowledgeable about their wares, which span from the 1700s to the mid-20th century.
My partner and I were torn between two engagement rings - a two-tone art nouveau piece and an art deco white gold mount (which would need to have stones put in). For their mounts, they apparently source all of their stones from antiques, as well, adding to the air of authenticity and perhaps mitigating ethical concerns about conflict diamonds.
Ultimately, we chose the ready

This team of ladies in the Diamond District are as good as the hype suggested in other reviews. Although they didn't have the rose gold chain I was looking for, they pointed me to a vendor across the isle who was equally as pleasurable to buy from.
If you are looking for vintage, unique jewelry from around the 16th to early 20th centuries, this is a perfect place to begin your quest. You can also email Gray to see if she can describe anything she might have in stock to match your specifications. I emailed her in the morning and got a response within a few hours; great communication and service
