A few weeks ago, one of my friends from outside of the yoga community came to my Blend Vinyasa class. I love having friends in class and had asked if she had ever practiced yoga before. She shared with me that she attends occasional classes in her hometown-somewhere in the middle of Michigan, I'm not sure where (four years later and I still consider myself new here!).
Tiny Buddha Yoga studios are heated vinyasa studios in Ann Arbor, Michigan. We focus on creating a supportive yet challenging environment for students to breathe, stretch and sweat in. Our strong community is fundamental to the vibe at our studios, which we cultivate through teacher and student connections.
We love beginners! We're so glad you're interested in giving yoga a try. First, our classes are open to ALL levels. You're always welcome and encouraged to go at your own pace and take breaks whenever you'd like. Regardless of the class you choose, please inform your teacher that you're new to yoga and they'll ensure you're comfortable and safe.
Get ready to breathe, sweat and move in this physically and mentally challenging class! Hot Vinyasa is faster than our other vinyasa classes and the pace is one breath to one movement. Class is set to energizing music and the temperature is HOT! At TBY we like to offer students the chance to deepen their own practice through free flow.
Of course, like all other things in this new world, in-studio classes will be looking a bit different now. We are taking every precaution and protection measure possible to ensure the health and safety of our teachers, students, and greater community. Keeping this in mind, we have outlined the new protocols in place for studio classes.

I've only been going to Tiny Buddha Yoga for about a month, but I love it! Staff is extremely knowledgeable, and definitely deserve their Best-Yoga-Studio-in-Washtenaw rating! As a beginner, the Ashtanga classes fit best for me, as they're fully lead, but even in couple of Vinyasa classes I've tried I felt like I could explore my practice without the pressure to do things perfectly. It's definitely on the more expensive side, but worth it! The teachers do their best to give you corrections without over-correcting, and challenge you to do your best. Highly recommend.

Great studios in Ann Arbor!
TBY is a wonderful community of teachers and practitioners. I was relatively new to yoga when I started here and felt welcomed and accepted where I was in my practice. TBY has a really nice variety of classes, something for every mood. I learned Ashtanga yoga here and the practice and community has really improved my quality of life!

I absolutely love this studio! I've been going since August of last year and can honestly say i've never had a negative experience. I had never done Ashtanga before and once I took the short form class with Risa I was hooked! I came to TB with very little knowledge of yoga, and loved how many different opportunities were offered for me to learn. If you truly want to learn about yoga, this is the place.

A nice space, but I went in for my first ever ashtanga class, respectfully trying to expand my practice. The instructor was extremely rude and asked me to dismiss myself because the practice was “too much for my western mindset”. After that I looked up their certification and found out they’ve only spent one month in India to study the practice. Get off the egotistical mindset and open your doors to people trying to better themselves.

I've been practicing for years but just took my first class at THIS studio. So far, so good! Clean and inviting studio, helpful staff, good and compassionate teacher with fun flows. Music was a good selection and good volume level. There were a good number of other students, giving the room plenty of energy. I do wish that they had a shower, but out of luck on that front.

The instructors focus on fast flashy sequences rather than letting you sink into a posture, feeling it out, working on building strength and stability. I thought the ability level of the class would have benefited from less asanas and more alignment cues. It's not worth going to the classes in the tent as they are not properly heated or lighted. I did enjoy the creativity of the flows.

Clean studios but not safe teaching practice, in my opinion, and I found the owner to be aggressive and outright rude. Many of the instructors played the music so loud it busted ear drums and it felt more like a superficial, high-energy, ridiculously hot gymnastics workout than a soothing, spiritual yoga class. Some of the Ashtanga classes are worth it tho.

I’ve been here for a week from out of town and have been searching for the perfect yoga practice. I’ve been to four different studios before I tried Tiny Buddha and now I know where I’ll go next time I’m in town. I have never done hot yoga prior but I do have a fairly strong practice and was a little worried but this was perfect! The teacher was friendly and welcoming (I guess you’d expect that anyway from a yogi!) and the class was strong, fast paced and I sweat a ton just like I love it. Tip: bring a towel! Thanks so much for an awesome practice!

The yoga teachers here are all experienced and very helpful in deepening my yoga practice. This is the best studio in Ann Arbor by far. All of the locations in the area are clean and conveniently located. Many classes to choose from and I'm excited they are starting a Mysore program! Risa is awesome, take her classes!!

This was my first experience attending a yoga class, I went to the Depot Town location, and it was absolutely amazing! Casey was my instructor and he made the entire experience so personal, mindful, and peaceful! The class began with an inspirational message and ended with one as well. The entire atmosphere was perfect and the people were friendly! :)

I have never written a review, but I went to the best yoga class of my life today at Tiny Buddha Yoga...so I had to share! Risa is amazing teacher. Challenging for the experienced, but supportive and patient with the beginner. I've been teaching for 4 years and I was able to learn quite a bit from Risa in one 60 minute practice. And we all had fun and laughed a little, while still being spiritual and getting a great workout. You won't be disappointed!!! Advanced and beginner, Tiny Buddha is for everyone.

FINALLLLLYYYYYY I have re-started my yoga practice after a 3 year hiatus at this super-cute studio that is literally at the end of my street! I love it! I was a little skeptical at first to try a heated class, but now I'm hooked! So far, every instructor I've had has been so kind, helpful and welcoming. I love how classes are full, but not SO full that you're bumping into your neighbor (hate that). The slow flow class is my favorite (I totally wish they had more weekend evening classes available for that one). The Blend Vinyasa is fun, you get to practice more advanced stuff in this

Awesome addition to the exciting Ypsi scene! Beautiful studio, great instructor, nice selection of classes and times, and adjacent to Babo where you can take something healthy home after you've treated your body to a yoga class.

My favorite studio I've been to in Ann Arbor. They cater the classes based on if beginners or more advanced people are there and everyone feels welcome. For the first time in my practice, teachers came over to me and helped me to improve my basic poses. As a beginner/ish, this was really helpful and I told them I appreciated it. The teachers make an effort to learn your name and the space is great. For my last class I went to the smaller studio on Pauline rather than the campus location, which was very nice. We had more room to ourselves and the space feels intimate, almost like a little temple

Favorite studio in Ann Arbor. I was a student for four years at U of M and have been attending other studios throughout my college career. After Tiny Buddha opened at the Campus location during my last year, I was so happy that I found the perfect yoga studio for me, yet bummed that it didn't exist sooner!

Unlike other studios downtown that I've been to, Tiny Buddha has a great offering of different teachers and styles. If you're looking for a sweaty and fun workout, go to Risa, Dominique, and Carryn. Kate and Chelsea are more alignment focused and guide the entire class. They

I bought a Groupon for Tiny Buddha Yoga, to see if I was going liked it. I'm so glad I ended up trying it because I have had such a great experience! I started off taking HIIT and it is a very challenging class. I really liked this class because it's a fun way to workout! I'm definitely going to continue coming to Tiny Buddha Yoga after my I'm done with my Groupon! I can't wait to attend more classes!

What an amazing studio! I love it. The atmosphere is so friendly and personable, which matches the coziness of the neighborhood-surrounded Westside location. There's a great emphasis on breathing and mindfulness in the classes I've taken, and a nice balance of guidance with the freedom to flow on your own.

Hot Vinyasa classes are challenging, but (speaking as somebody who was pretty new to hot yoga before TBY) you can easily scale your practice to match your experience/fitness/feeling that day (and when the original pose isn't happening for me, I feel totally comfortable trying

I found Tiny Buddha to be a great little studio! I attended Kayleigh's slow burn class and found her to hold excellent space. She queued self-awareness and breath, without being pushy. Her flow was sane but full of opportunities for students to challenge themselves. I look forward to enjoying her classes, as well as others, again soon!

As a side note, I, for one, really appreciate opening and/or closing om's. Joining voices has long been one of my favorite parts of yoga classes. Ahhhh-ohhhhhh-mmmmmm. :)

I was so happy when Tiny Buddha opened this past winter, and it is so nice to have found a yoga home in A2 since moving from Chicago in 2013. The owner Risa is very kind and passionate and really gives a killer Hot Vinyasa class! Can't wait to watch the studio continue to grow, it's really a great place to practice.

All the classes are hot (sometimes feels like bikram) and there are no basic or beginner classes. I really liked some of the teachers, but more often than not the teachers there were contradictory-- I hate when yoga teachers tell you to be mindful and not to push yourself but then yell and scream at you to challenge yourself. I had such high hopes- particularly because it is a smaller studio.

It has been hard finding a yoga class in A2 without overly intense music and drill sergeants for teachers.
