MOVE Wellness Studios in Ann Arbor specializes in Pilates, a whole-body exercise method that was created by Joseph Pilates more than 85 years ago. Pilates is suitable for all bodies at every stage of life. Our in-studio trainers will teach you how to do Pilates both on the mat and on spring-based resistance equipment, designed by Pilates himself, including the Cadillac, the Reformer, and Chair and Barrels.
MOVE Wellness Studios in Ann Arbor specializes in GYROTONIC and GYROKINESIS methods, complimentary exercise systems that fall under the umbrella of the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM. This exercise system was developed by Juliu Horvath as a way to heal himself and regain his strength and agility after a dance injury that affected his whole body.
Join us for interactive, livestream yoga classes from MOVE Wellness Studios. These classes are designed to meet a variety of client needs and represent a practice that speaks from the teacher's heart. Meet your mat and challenge your body from the comfort of your own home. At MOVE, we pride ourselves on creating a welcoming environment, whether it's in-person or online, and empowering each client on their personal path to fitness and wellness.
MOVE Wellness offers 30+ livestream classes including Pilates, Gyrokinesis, Yoga, Barre and HIIT classes. MOVE also offers limited in-person, small group classes for Pilates and the Gyrotonic Tower. Our Trainers and Concierge Team will work one-on-one with you to create your custom class schedule and keep you moving confidently and comfortably through your fitness journey.

I'm sure MOVE is why I am able to move! I came to MOVE Wellness stuido years ago with an aching back that affected my daily life- my ability to walk or bend over. After working with their excellent trainers I was able to do and up and down 6 hour hike in the mountains. Thank you, Move!

As an older, former couch potato, I turned to Move when 24 weeks of physical therapy failed to improve my situation much. I have arthritis along my spine in numerous places and problems in my hips and lower back that interfere with balance and walking. I loved this studio pre-Covid and I love how they've put together online resources and live streaming post-Covid. This is truly a "no judgement" place with owners and trainers who really care about their clients. I have been taking private training with Move for over 3 years and online classes since February. it's made a huge difference in my pain

As a fellow NCPT and Pilates studio owner it can be challenging to carve out the time to MOVE my own body. I've been going to MOVE for about a year now; I visited the studio on a late Friday (at closing time!) and a wonderful instructor showed me around and spoke about their approach and philosophy. I wanted to give it a try and after the initial class, I bought an 8-session package for mat Pilates. I needed a break from the intensity of my work and to attend to my body as I age, and the lessons gave me that opportunity. I do the exercises when I travel.
I have found the staff to be very knowledgeable, caring, down-to-earth, and real. In all the classes they always start by asking how we are doing

MOVE is even more than a five-star wellness studio, with excellent trainers and programs. I have been a client since it opened in 2014 and have seen the creation of an impressive team with broad experience and deep knowledge, passion for the work, good communication skills, consistently positive attitude, practical problem-solving, and friendliness and capacity to connect. My own work at MOVE in pilates and gyrotonics has been significant for many reasons, not least because I have learned so much about the human body, both an intellectual and physical learning that I hadn't experienced before.

This place is great! I love the instructors! I didn't know anything about Pilates when I had my first session here, and had been out of shape for many years. I once loved to dance but I have gained so much weight in the past 40 years that the thought of leaping around a dance floor at my age was terrifying. I was totally not motivated to work out at a gym. The personal trainers at MOVE really know what they are doing. This place literally saved my body and my life. If you want a fitness experience in a safe, comfortable, refreshing environment anchored by deep expertise in health, fitness and wellness, go here. These are the best trainers in town. They have a deep understanding of movement and the human body and, unlike most places, can customize and modify workouts to fit absolutely any body type, injury and personal goal. This gym offers really awesome classes that you wouldn't normally find in many other places. The instructors are all lovely, knowledgeable and very helpful. This gym is definitely on the pricey side, but if you can afford it, I would totally recommend it, in particular for the Reformer Pilates.

My physical therapist (for back injury) recommended MOVE as a trusted fitness center. MOVE understands how to transition people with injuries back into physical fitness safely without reinjury. I had tried a regular gym before, but had injured myself there. I am currently taking some pilates classes which I feel is helping my core. I am also taking private gyrotonic sessions with Angela, and feel it has really increased my joint mobility - especially in my back and shoulders. The staff is friendly, always cheerful and helpful, and they make it a point to remember your name. I highly recommend MOVE

My favorite class has been the Gentle Yoga with Shannon Walter. Gentle Yoga makes you feel like you've taken the stressful things from your week and let them all go! I have also enjoyed private sessions of Gyrotonic with Aimee McDonald-Anderson. The staff is also super friendly and helpful.

So, I've only ever done Prenatal and Postnatal classes with Davy here, and can't speak to any other kind of class, but if you are going to have a baby or recently had one, I can't recommend Move enough! I started doing prenatal Pilates at about 29 weeks when I had a lot of back pain. It was A great, safe way to stay active and build strength. Davy is really knowledgeable and a good teacher. Even though my labor and delivery were rough (36 hrs+ a c-section!) my recovery has been pretty smooth and easy - and I give at least some credit to Davy's prenatal class for that

The owner has done a great job creating a beautiful wellness center. I came in for a trial visit after winning a visit in a silent auction. It smelled like essential oils in there-which was very relaxing and I got a very nice gift bag after my visit. My Pilates workout instructor was great too. Although my visit was a while ago, I could tell that everyone there really cared about your well being. I just wish the package prices had a little bit more variety! It wasn't affordable for me at the time.

I go to MOVE nearly everyday and can not say enough wonderful things about this studio. I am completing my second year of medical school and having a place to go everyday where I felt so great on so many levels really keeps me going. This studio is a hidden gem. I found MOVE through Groupon and was blown away by the facility, teachers, and class offerings. I can't believe the studio isn't busier. I'm a dancer and was dealing with an injury while taking at MOVE. Most exercise was out for me, but I improved with such leaps and bounds while taking almost daily class here even my PT was extremely impressed.

Classes are small, so you will receive personal attention. The teachers are extremely knowledgable and will help you modify classes as needed. And be prepared to get a GREAT workout.

Absolute best studio in Ann Arbor! I have been looking for months for a long term place to strengthen my body, as I have long term physical limitations. I have bounced around from place to place and from instructor to instructor without finding a good fit. Some have been very honest with me and have told me that they were not knowledgeable enough about my limitations to help, which I respect. But MOVE went out of their way to help me; to learn about my body and to help me build up the muscles my body so desperately needs. I can't even explain how intelligent they are about anatomy and how
