Services
Hot Yoga with Luiz combines Hatha and Vinyasa yoga with martial arts, ballet, and pilates to increase neuromuscular efficiency, body posture, balance, strength and power. Be prepared to sweat in this challenging yoga class! Learn to develop a deeper relationship with your mind and body as you are led through flow sequences as well as invited to flow on your own.
We are located in downtown Ann Arbor and share a parking lot with businesses including the Yellow Barn and Indoor Comfort Heating and Cooling. You are allowed to park in the parking lot when coming to class. Our building is grey and blue and is near the Ann Arbor School of Yoga (but is NOT the same place!).

While searching for a place to practice yoga more regularly, I came across Mota Thai and their weekend donation yoga classes. Located in a converted warehouse, the studio offers a welcoming open space, and the donation-based classes offer an easy way to try out different classes and teachers.
I've been to several so far, and there is a great deal of variety. Some vinyasa-based classes are much more athletic and give you a cardio-boosting workout while also challenging balance and flexibility, others move at a slower pace to relax and stretch, and some are more breathing and meditation-based

I came here for my first ever yoga class and was able to keep up; it was challenging but the teacher was great! I've since met two of the three rotating teachers for the donation classes and have nothing but positive things to say about both of them. They did a perfect mix of stretching poses and challenging movements, and their voices were very soothing and made me feel at ease. I'll be back next weekend for sure!

On Saturday I attended Courtney's Red Cross certification class for the first time and I was super impressed with her knowledge and presentations! I left her class knowing that in an emergency situation I can confidently help!

Luiz will not let you down! He'll tell you, "This is your studio." That means if you want to work on a particular asana or group of muscles you will. In a heartbeat he is able to relinquish his class plan and develop a custom sequence to address your needs. His amazing arsenal of knowledge and skill take you on a spiritual and physical journey that is always challenging and rewarding. His use of darkness, "moonlight", incense and gilt-edge stereo will electrify your senses and beg your inward focus. A truly unique studio in Ann Arbor & always gratifying, always satisfying

I strongly agree with statements by the previous three 5-star reviewers. You won't fail to gain in doing yoga with Luiz. Whether you are a beginning or advanced practitioner, young, old or ailing, you will find what you need at Mota Thai Yoga. Luiz' approach is eclectic, personal and invigorating---it's not your standard yoga class and definitely worth a try. From a very satisfied 69-year old with arthritis.

I have been taking the new class that Luiz is teaching, Suspension Coyopa Yoga for about 4 weeks now. I love it! I haven't been able to really work up a sweat like I used to in Luiz' Hot Yoga classes due to rotator cuff injuries/surgery and a knee replacement. Now, with the suspension straps, I can get my heart rate up, challenge and strengthen all my muscle groups, and have lost weight.
This class also helps improve your balance.
As with Luiz' other classes, the content and sequence is fresh and well planned. It has felt great training again!

Class with Luiz is unlike anything else I've done before. I've been practicing with him for about 3 yrs now and can't begin to explain the impact it's had on my life. His knowledge of yoga, martial arts and the body provides incredible exercise, meditation and knowledge of one's own body and how it works! He cares deeply for his students and their well being and I am very grateful to be able to learn from him. Luiz promises that you will never leave his class the same as when you have arrived. After several years under his instruction, I know that to be true. He puts tremendous preparation into each class; each focuses on a different style or physical goal, and you will be pushed to your personal limit through his welcoming and inspirational instruction style. A complete workout!
