I have been teaching for over 17 years and practicing for over 27. I lead yoga, Pilates, fitness and yoga based Stress Reduction one-on-one and group classes based in San Francisco, CA. Yoga, Pilates and fitness practices can lead to incredible transformations, I am a huge fan of the power of these embodied physical and meditative practices to impact peoples' lives positively.
Continuous flow of poses linking breath and movement. Comprehensive "workout, " including many seated postures, inversions, arm balances and core strengthening "jump throughs and jump backs." This style of Ashtanga is well grounded in the Ashtanga lineage but not taught in the Mysore/traditional manner.

I take Pilates lessons from Amira, an amazing instructor, who has worked with me for many years. I started with her at UCSF and then together with others, I followed her to another studio. In each session with her clear and focused guidance, the body gets stretched and balanced. I leave the workout session feeling great, that I've done something really good for myself. She's awesome!

Amira was my first Pilates instructor....5 or 6 or 7 years ago. I knew she was a fabulous teacher from the very beginning, but it's taken time to fully understand how special she is.
In the beginning I was very self-conscious and intimidated, having never taken a small group fitness class before. I feel so grateful to have found such a wonderful teacher in Amira. I started taking Pilates classes from her two years ago while recovering from cartilage tear in my hip, and her thoughtful guidance and positive spirit were a major contributor to my full recovery without surgery. I've taken individual and group Pilates classes from her as well as Ashtanga yoga classes, and all have been fantastic. I feel moved to write a review of Amira Haidary Yoga and Pilates. I have been doing Pilates with Amira for 2 years and it has so much helped me. I used to have lower back pain, which is now gone and my whole posture in general and during bicycling riding has changed, resulting in my being able to bike better and also not get the bad upper back and neck pain that used to be a major problem.

Amira is a gem and an inspiration!
I first met Amira when she was my instructor in a private intro to Pilates class when I was 65. I felt somewhat intimidated in a Pilates environment and was uncertain whether this was something I should do or even if it was something I could do. However, Amira made me feel comfortable and supplied me with the understanding and motivation to get me past my fears.

Amira is one of the best yoga instructors I have worked with.
