Barongan Kempo Karate is an active participant in the Des Moines martial arts community and beyond. We have sister martial arts schools across the US including Minnesota and Oregon. Three-time hall of fame inductee, Soke "Bobby" Barongan, has been actively supporting martial arts in Des Moines in the art of Chinese Kempo Karate since 1973.
Soke Barongan, a native of the Philippine Islands, and the system's founder, has been a student of the martial arts since 1963. Ever since the Barongan Kempo style began, it has evolved. Services
Pricing at Barongan Kempo Karate is affordable and varies by class type. We offer pay-ahead discounts for students interested in committing to quarterly or annual packages. It is a use-it-or-lose-it system, because we want you to get the most out of your training investment. Dues are paid at the beginning of the first class each month, and can be paid by Credit Card, Cash, or Check.
Each rank below black belt is responsible for learning the building blocks of kempo, each contributes to a toolkit that is used to mold a true martial artist. The effectiveness of single techniques is limited. The total curriculum, with diligent study, will provide an arsenal of powerful, effective responses to attacks while shaping a more thoughtful and well-rounded individual.

I just wanted to thank all the wonderful people who came from near and far to share a meal and support the UKKS sponsored tournament this past weekend. Not everything went perfect but... We learned a lot thanks to all the help everyone supplied. So many individuals stepped up to help...too many to list here. You all made this weekend a huge success.
