We help people to make small, practical changes to their eating plan. Our goal is to teach clients how to be mindful eaters & make changes that they can live with for a lifetime. We want our clients to feel like they are having a conversation with a friend - a sharing of concerns and goals. We educate employees on good nutrition, shopping, food label reading, eating on the run and many other nutrition topics.

People with diabetes can now live longer, and improve the quality of their lives when they get the proper education & treatment. Have been diagnosed with, or are trying to prevent: cancer, pre-diabetes, diabetes, high cholesterol, fatty liver, high blood pressure. Are frustrated with all the fad diets / inconsistent nutrition advice in the media and looking for a sound nutrition plan to follow.
Services
Our visits will be productive, yet relaxed. We want our clients to feel like they are having a conversation with a friend - a sharing of concerns and goals. Together we will come up with a realistic plan of action, setting attainable nutrition, exercise and behavioral goals at each visit. Recommendations are always individualized to the clients food preferences and lifestyle.
We offer one on one and family based nutritional counseling to people interested in wellness, health promotion and/or disease prevention. Nutrition counseling by a Registered Dietitian is covered by most major insurance companies. It is the patient's responsibility to verify insurance coverage. Prior to your appointment, call the member services number listed in the back of your health insurance card.
My career chose me. I found my passion for health, nutrition, and exercise at a young age. At four years old, I started gymnastics training and quickly learned that eating healthy food made me feel better, work harder and get stronger. I didn't realize then that one day I'd work to empower others to take care of their bodies through doing what they enjoy and eating what they love, just as I have always done.
Nutrition was a second career for me, but looking back it seems to make perfect sense. I was a dancer growing up and through college, and fueling my body for performance was always important. I loved learning about how my body turned food into building blocks so I could walk, dance, breathe, recover, and grow.
Nutrition was a significant part of my life before I even realized it. I was involved in every activity and sport imaginable as a young child. I quickly found my love for swimming and horses and became a competitive swimmer and equestrian. During high school I was fortunate to have a coach who brought in a registered dietitian to teach us how nutrition and food fuel our body and impact performance.

At the time I sought out Alison Kaplanes’ services, I had just been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. My A1C was very high and we were in the middle of the 2020 Covid pandemic where unmanaged diabetes was reported as the #2 comorbidity. With blood testing, diet changes, and meds I was starting to bring my blood sugar down, but I often felt worn down, heady, experienced dangerous blood sugar lows, and needed counsel on food options as well as other aspects of managing the disease. Less than a year later, my A1C is lower than what is even considered ‘diabetic’, I never feel hunger, I’ve lost

Alison is knowledgeable, thorough, and insightful. She explains things in a very understandable way. She will make you aware of all the hypocrisies of product labeling, which can be very misleading. I would highly recommend her services to anyone in need of a nutritionist. Eat healthy to be healthy.

I've been working with Alison for more than 10 years and she is a wealth of knowledge! My 78 year old mom has Type 1 Diabetes (diagnosed as an adult) and Alison has worked with our family to help my mom manage this tricky disease. She's provided nutrition and exercise suggestions as well as insulin adjustment recommendations. She has been an invaluable resource for understanding the nuances of diabetes management. I'd recommend her to anyone managing diabetes or anyone looking for a super knowledgeable Registered Dietitian who offers realistic and practical solutions.

If you are looking for a dietician, I strongly recommend working with Allison. She is very easy to converse with and is able to provide a realistic perspective when it comes to what we eat and how we exercise. I don't believe in dieting but more implementing healthier foods into my life. Allison has been instrumental in doing this for me and helping me make better decisions on what I eat. I find it extremely overwhelming in todays age to understand what is good and what is bad to eat even when it comes to food we deem as healthy. Alison has been very supportive and always answers my messages about
