Services
Dallas Youth Optical is the only optical store in the Dallas area that specializes in children's eyewear. From newborns to young adults, we can work with the special issues that challenge parents when their child needs glasses. Children who need glasses are often resistant, but once they realize they can see better with them, they wear their glasses happily.
Purchasing glasses for yourself, as an adult, is a confusing and overwhelming process. When you're a parent and need to choose eyewear for your child, it's even more so, and most optical stores aren't sufficiently trained to fit the frames to the child's smaller face. You need to find an optical store that carries specialty children's eyewear.

If your child needs glasses, you might be worried about finding the right pair that they will wear and that will fit them correctly. One of your first choices is whether you want metal or plastic. Both types of frames have pros and cons, so you should work with your optician, optometrist, and your child so that their glasses fit their needs and lifestyle.
Even if your child doesn't require prescription eyeglasses, experts agree that eye injuries could be prevented by wearing safety glasses during sports activities. Prevent Blindness America reports that of approximately 40,000 sports-related eye injuries that require emergency room care, probably 90% of them could be prevented with protective eyewear, like children's safety frames.

I went here to look at glasses for our 3 year old twins, and there was a sign on the door to knock before entering. I knock and wait for the woman working to answer the door. She was extremely rude, did not let us in, and was literally showing me glasses while I'm standing in the doorway with two children (they were not about to close and we were wearing masks, so this made no sense). She then proceeds to tell me without me asking that their glasses are "very expensive and they don't take insurance". Mind you I'm still attempting to just look at the frames they have available. I cannot imagine

We purchased glasses for my 17 mo. old here upon a recommendation from a friend to go with a pediatric specialist while my daughter was so little, and we are back again for round 2 nearly two years later. Melissa at Dallas Youth Optical has been a treasure to work with. She is knowledgeable, prompt, and has excellent customer service. She has taken care of more than one "oops" moments with my daughter's glasses to ensure they were in great shape. Definitely worth the higher price for the expertise and excellent customer service.

Terrible customer service! I understand Covid-19 precautions but the attendant would not even open the door to talk to me. ..we were all wearing masks!!! She spoke through the glass door and I could barely hear her. She said we could not try on the frames and we just had to “trust her”. And adjustments could only be made after the situation got better...nobody knows when that’s going to happen...so I guess I’d spent $500 on glasses that she chooses and that cannot even be adjusted! Good luck with that!

Terrible customer service. When we first went, I sat in the main room listening to a personal conversation that the lady felt was too important to wrap up to attend to customers. Then, we were told the glasses would be here in a week. I called a week later, took several tries to get someone on the phone and there is no way to leave a voicemail. She tells me they weren't there but should be there the next day or so. This was on a Thursday. I then proceed to call multiple times on Friday, Saturday and Monday and NO answer. Finally after blowing up the phone I get the same lady and she tells me she

I don't know what the average price for kids' glasses is, so I can't speak to that, but I've been very satisfied with Dallas Youth Optical. My 4 year old needed glasses and they had the selection we needed - limited, so she wasn't overwhelmed, but with several colors and shapes. They were helpful in getting her fitted and when the strap broke they replaced it without charge. I will go back when she outgrows these.
