Bankruptcy is debt relief for many people who have excessive debt. It is also a way to modify mortgage loans, auto loans and other types of secured credit. Chapter 13 Bankruptcy is often used to save the family home. Chapter 13 is also used to refinance auto loans by reducing the interest rate, reducing the payment amount and extending the term of the loan.
1. STOP THE GARNISHMENT: All garnishments stop at the moment of filing a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. Typically a chapter 13 plan payment is less than a garnishment and takes care of all of your debts comprehensively. Chapter 13 Bankruptcy usually requires as little as only the filing fee (currently $281) to file.

Dave is INCREDIBLE! He really takes his time to explain every step of the process and makes it as easy and painless as possible. No one WANTS to be in a position where they need an attorney, but if you do, you definitely want someone who's knowledgeable and knows what they're doing. Dave always made himself available and broke everything down so it was easy for me to understand. And while I hope I don't end up in a position to need an attorney again, Dave would definitely be the first person I call.

I am not an Illinois resident, but I had some questions regarding my recently passed father's safe deposit box in Chicago. I did a quick search online and gave the office a call. As a financial advisor, I discuss estate planning with every one of my clients. While I can speak to them about general ideas, having an estate planning attorney to refer them to regarding their specific needs and for execution of those needs is essential. I looked online for a bankruptcy attorney downtown Chicago and this is how I found David. I spoke to him on the phone and he was very nice. When I showed up for a consultation he was there and I didn't have to wait at all. He asked me some basic questions and asked me if he could run a credit check. He said he just wanted to get an idea how much debt I was in. He wasn't pushy at all and even said I could go home and think about it. I liked that he walked me through the whole process. So far David has been great. I decided to hire David as a result of Jen's review on this site, since I knew nothing about finding a bankruptcy lawyer. My case is still pending, but so far David has been very helpful and attentive. I know many people who have had bad experiences with attorneys, but David has not fit that mold.
