We believe various styles of yoga should be available to everyone at reasonable prices and strive to have a community of instructors, staff, and students offering support and caring for one another. It is our belief that yoga is an essential element to healing a broken body and spirit and to maintain a healthy, low-stress style of living. New students are students who have not purchased any packages/taken class at the San Diego Yoga Center. All unqualified purchases will be returned to the purchaser.
Services
What first began as a Bikram hot yoga studio has morphed into something much more. Today the San Diego Yoga Center offers various styles of yoga and mat pilates at various temperatures for everyone regardless of experience or age. Anthony took on the studio in 2008 and for many years became the go-to Bikram yoga studio in east county.
It's incredible how many people say they'd like to get fitter and live a healthier lifestyle but aren't quite sure where to start. That's where we come in. SD Yoga Center offers a fitness structure and the positive reinforcement you need, so that you can concentrate on getting your body and mind into the state you desire.
Have clean feet and be perfume free. In consideration for those with sensitivities or allergies, please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne, or strongly scented products in the studio. San Diego Yoga Center requires that all students must use a mat and large/beach-sized towel (for hot classes). If you don't have either, we have them for sale.
It is very important to keep yourself well hydrated and to replace the loss of electrolytes (body salts and minerals) lost during a hot yoga class through your sweat. Dehydration and electrolyte imbalance go hand in hand. Water alone is insufficient! Please replace the sodium, potassium, chloride, and magnesium in your body.
After more than two decades of yoga practice I now more than ever appreciate and understand the benefits and results it produces. I am still enthralled with the feel of my own breath, body, stillness of mind, mental clarity, profound thought, and well being all of which yoga practice awakens. At this point it's not possible for me to live my life without the practice of yoga.

I started doing yoga at SDYC just under two months ago and absolutely love it! The overall atmosphere is so welcoming and, unlike other studios, they truly are accessible to all ages and bodies.
I've primarily been taking classes with Brie, Candace, and Mayra. Each time, I thought I couldn't possibly like another instructor as much as I did the previous one, and each time I was so pleasantly surprised. They are all amazing! They all lead such invigorating yet relaxing classes, while offering specialized touches that make each class feel really personalized.

San Diego Yoga Center is amazing!! The 60 minute hot yoga class is my personal favorite ❤️ Every class I’ve attended since I joined has been an amazing experience. All instructors are welcoming, encouraging, kind, and professional. I love the atmosphere the studio has. Truly a wonderful studio to call home and I, 1,000% recommend them.

At the SDYC, you can have 60, 75 and 90-min-hot yoga classes (Bikram). I like this kind of flexibility; sometimes you just don't have the time to take a full 90 min class, this is one of the things I appreciate the most in this studio.
The instructors are supportive, knowledgeable and kind, ready to meet you where you are, even if your body doesn't look like a Japanese ham sandwich from the side.
The perks:
- Large space, showers and amenities in the locker rooms.
- Several classes throughout the day, everyday.
- Evening candle light classes
- Silent hot yoga classes
- Not only Bikram -

I tried the hot yoga here. The class is intense, very hot, and SOOO GOOD! The class was very crowded. You may have feet in your face, and possibly someone else's sweat near you, but the glow that you get will be worth it. They also hand out a cold wet towel afterward, which was heaven!
Google had terrible directions, which made me almost miss the class. It is near the Fuddruckers and CVS, not the regal cinemas and Target.

How do you write a love letter to yoga? Although I dabbled with this ancient art in my early 20's I never quite grasped the beauty and the benefits - especially of HOT YOGA!! It wasn't until my mature 40's that I realized you don't need to run marathons, do 2 hour workouts or CrossFit into injury for excise!! Yoga gives you all the benefits of heavy repetitive exercise and more ~ think PEACE of mind and spirit
SD Yoga Center has made all the difference in how I look at yoga. Not only are the teachers TOPS in their practice, but I have made friends of my fellow yogis. It&apos

I love this yoga center because it is exactly what I need. The staff and the facilities are top notch without being pretentious like so many corporate yoga studios that are popping up everywhere. if you're looking for a yoga studio that is down to earth with knowledgeable staff who make you feel warm and welcome this is the place for you. thank you San Diego yoga center. Thank you Anthony and Charlene for serving La Mesa and San Diego County.

It is truly never to late to start yoga no matter how old you are. I love this studio. Everyone is friendly and you will feel welcomed. There are several kinds of yoga. I enjoy the hot yoga but I recently tried the rest and restore and throughly enjoyed it. Cubbies and lockers to store your belongings. (Bring your own lock). Showers and changing rooms. Namaste

The SD Yoga Center great! Clean facility, great classes and amazing staff and instructors make it stand apart from all other yoga spots. To top it off their prices are super affordable. I'm not someone who is super flexible and I had concerns about getting back into yoga. To my relief and comfort, Charlene, the instructor was patient, friendly, and helped me through the class! I would recommend this yoga studio to anyone and everyone!!!

I was in a car accident a little over a year ago and in constant pain from whiplash. I've done yoga in many different forms since my childhood. I was hesitant to try hot yoga Because I wasn't sure I'd be able to handle the heat. My boyfriend encouraged me to attend classes with him at the San Diego yoga Center. I know the hot yoga has helped my back immensely. My pain has decreased and I have much more flexibility in it than I did after the accident. I think the all of teachers at the center are very knowledgeable and care about their students. There's also classes that are

A friend recommended SD Yoga Center. I had been nervous about trying hot yoga and was a little concerned - what if I passed out? What if I fell ill? None of that happened. My first instructor was Chelsea and she was fantastic. She made me feel comfortable and encouraged me to take things at my own pace. I fell in love with hot yoga! I bought the 10 class package but am going to buy the monthly subscription because I am super excited about SD Yoga Center.
Friendly staff, clean areas and super nice people that attend classes. If you are wondering if this is for you just try it out. Make sure to

Just an update: Great yoga, please open another center more centrally located. To the all the new yogis who attend: please be mindful of the rules and follow them accordingly. The last couple of times I have been to a class there were many who did not understand or who did not read the rules of yoga class and how to behave. Thank you Anthony for making sure that everyone follows the rules so that everyone has a pleasant experience.

I love this place!!! I still prefer the 90 minute traditional hot yoga sequence. But it is very refreshing to have multiple options at a Bikram-style studio. I can do the 1 hour series when pinched for time or the Hatha Flow when I need a little change of pace. The staff is friendly and the teachers are great. But the best part is the price - $85 per month on auto-debit is the cheapest in town for this type of yoga.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

I was so excited to find a studio close by that had weekend afternoon Vinyasa classes. But that is where the excitement ended...
I am trying to figure out where I went wrong. The studio is called San Diego Yoga Center, I attended a class called Hatha Flow Yoga, I took note that the description said "This is not a hot yoga class." When I arrived I asked if the room gets above 80, I was told no...and yet the room was hot, way hot and there was no flow...There was no sun salutation series, no down dog, no chaturanga, no plank... no flow what so ever. And way too much heat for me.

If it's your first time doing yoga or if you're getting back into yoga after a long break, BEWARE.!!!! This is not the place for you.
I was told by the instructor that Bikram Yoga is taught by the instructor who only tells students what pose to do and doesn't demo the pose. The instructor, on a mic, stood in front of the called out the pose -no demo. I found it extremely frustrating since instructions were fast and confusing. Also, I tried watching other students to "learn the pose by observing" but everyone seemed to be doing different things -or they were at different

I really want to LOVE Bikram's Yoga La Mesa but alas I just cannot get past just liking them.
The things that I do really like about Bikram's Yoga La Mesa:
- It's close to me. I live in Lakeside and it is seriously a struggle finding a hot yoga class nearby. I've yelped it, I've asked friends, and it seems that East County just does not have a love for yoga as they do down at the beach and closer to the heart of SD. And it is a shame, because I don't want to drive 25+ minutes away for a yoga class but I really have enjoyed the yoga classes I've taken.

People used to ask me "Where do you practice?" My answer was... "Umm... practice?" I've been practicing here regularly for a few years and now call it my home studio.
The studio is undergoing some positive changes. Just as I was starting to get a ittle burned out, the format changed! Now there are 60-minute "Bikram-style" classes a few times a week. A lot of the purist teachers left, but I'm happy that my favorites, Dave and Elana are still there.
There are still 90-minute classes and starting July 7th Vinyasa flow will be offered on Sundays at 11am
