The Hutch Kids Child Care Program focuses on the individuality and uniqueness of each child. We provide an environment that allows each child to develop at his/her own pace and activities are planned that encourage self-confidence, spontaneity, curiosity, and self- discipline, as well as assisting in the development of the child's social and emotional health.
Hutch Kids Child Care aspires to be a child-centered community of learners where children, their families and educators work in concert with one another. This partnership creates a trusting, nurturing and reciprocally supportive environment where joy, play and learning are celebrated.

Services
Hutch Kids Child Care Center was established in 1990 by Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC) to provide quality on-site child care for the children of FHCRC employees. We also welcome children whose parents work for the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and employees of the University of Washington who have affiliation with FHCRC.
The classrooms at Hutch Kids are divided into four teams: Infant, Waddler, Toddler, and Preschool. Each team has a Mentor Teacher, who is available to mentor and support teachers with curriculum development, classroom environments, and team building. The Assistant and Executive Directors are also available to support parents.
Once a week the children in our oldest preschool classrooms enjoy swimming lessons from SJCC Aquatics instructors at the Marriott Residence Inn, located across the street from Hutch Kids. The children work with instructors in groups of five or less (instructor to child ratio ranges from 1:2 to 1:5) according to each child's skill and comfort level.
There are many sources of information available to parents on the Internet. Below are resources that we feel will be helpful to families and to those interested in children. Also, a "Family Resources" notebook with brochures and information is located in the HKCC lobby - please check often for additional material.
Hutch Kids provides three snacks to children daily. Parents with children who have special dietary needs/allergies are to alert their child's teacher. Parents are required to bring a nutritious lunch each day. Classroom teachers can offer suggestions of alternative foods for your child if needed, or refer to our Meal Suggestions List (pdf).
