Yoga poses (asanas) tone the whole body. They strengthen bones and muscles; increase flexibility, stamina and concentration; and improve posture and breathing. This physical well-being has a calming and clarifying effect on the mind. When we are physically strong and emotionally resilient, we are better able to ride the ups and downs of everyday life with grace and equanimity.
Are you feeling stressed & anxious? Or perhaps overwhelmed by the busyness of life? Then join us for a yoga class that promises deep relaxation and rejuvenation. Restorative Yoga is a soothing asana practice with passive, supported poses held for extended periods. We use lots of props so the body can fully relax and release tension and stress.
This class takes the mystery out of yoga and is a great way to discover what yoga is all about. No experience is necessary, and the class is appropriate for all regardless of age or physical challenges. The class progresses gently with emphasis on alignment principles for safe yoga practice. Introduction to basic poses (called asana) and breathing are presented to increase strength, flexibility, stamina, balance and overall well being.
Food: Come to class with a slightly empty stomach (two or more hours past your last meal). Special needs: Please inform your instructor about any injuries, physical problems or medical conditions so that poses may be modified for you. Please do not come to class if you have any condition that may be contagious.
You may pay for each class individually or pay by the week, the month or for the entire fall. The Introductory/Beginner series (12 weeks $120) and the Yoga Ropes Wall series (5 weeks $50) require full payment at the start of the series. We accept cash, check payable to "Raleigh Yoga Center" or payment through Venmo at Jane-Barrett-19.

I have studied yoga at Raleigh Yoga Center for more than 12 years. I believe every body can benefit from yoga and Raleigh Yoga Center is the best place in town to learn and practice. The studio is warm and personal (and it has two walls of wonderful big windows!), its location in Cameron Village is ideal and it offers classes for every level. The Intro & Fundamentals classes teach the basics that every new yoga student needs. The instruction was incredibly thorough and taught me correct form and how to use props to make even the poses that were challenging at that time, attainable. As I progressed
