Services
A comprehensive eye exam includes checking your vision for a personalized glasses prescription, evaluating any eye symptoms and screening for eye diseases in all structures of the eye. During a contact lens fitting, we will determine which contact lenses are the most appropriate and comfortable for you and your lifestyle.
OPTIMEYES is our onsite optical shop. We have a friendly and highly experienced staff that will help you select lenses and frames to best fit your fashion and lifestyle. We carry a variety of men's, women's as well as unisex frames. Among our many brands are Oakley, Coach, Ray-Ban, and Prada. In most cases, yes! Bring your frame in with you so that it can be evaluated for durability.
We accept most major medical insurances, however, we are not participating in any stand alone vision plans. Many medical insurance plans do not cover the cost of a refraction to determine your best visual acuity and your glasses prescription; the approximate cost is $45. Please allow approximately an hour for a complete eye exam, though many visits do not take the full hour.

Instead of the copay and bill your insurance model you may be used to, I was told they'd simply bill my insurance. My insurance paid $167.00 and they sent me a bill for $149.45, which I eventually paid. There was supposedly a $17.55 discount associated with the insurance plan. I had a sty in one of my eyes due to sunscreen clogging my pores. The doctor performed an examination and prescribed tobramycin eye drops to treat the infection, which worked. I don't understand why the cost for this was a rather opaque $334.00. I was planning on using this clinic for my exam and vision needs but who knows

I was seen same day for an eye complication. 150 out of pocket, this was a great experience. They were professional and excused my foul language (hopefully) during the painful procedure of squeezing the living hell out of my eyelid. And I am extremely grateful. Have eye problems? I've been coming here since I moved to Seattle in 2014 and don't have a bad word to say about them. I've always had VSP, and from that perspective I've never even seen a bill from them as I just pay the small copay when I come in and they handle the rest. I also had a strange eye condition where contacts caused me extreme redness and itchy, sore eyes, and over the course of 6-8 months went in several times. Each time the front desk was helpful and fast, my appointment was on time, and the doctor really worked hard to help fix my eyes - which he did! I have been seen by both eye doctors in the office

I went to see Dr. Hughes because of pain in my upper back and neck. Dr. Grady examined my eyes carefully, watched as I simulated how I use a computer, gave me prescription for some new glasses for use with my computer. In only a week after getting my new computer glasses, the problem with my neck was cured.

Both Dr. Grady and Dr. Rerecich are smart, competent, and effective in their treatment choices. I have had appointments with both of them. Both doctors are thoughtful about seeking to get to the root of the problem and/or discuss options for prevention if it is an ongoing/chronic issue.

The office staff appears to be totally incompetent. They quit taking our insurance, which is their right, but when we checked in they took our insurance card didn't tell us. $600+ in charges that they refuse to reverse, that used to be just a $30 copay (approx). For like 20 minutes of common eye exams for 3 people!!! Totally OUTRAGEOUS. Do not use these people!
Unresolved, after several attempts. Avoid this place at all costs!

After years of Costco Optometry style eye exams I finally decided to get a regular eye doctor and chose Seattle Eye Care a few years ago. I couldn't have made a better choice. I finally feel like a patient instead of a number. They have done such a good job the past few years of helping me find the right prescription and contacts for me and answered all of my endless questions. Many thanks to their amazing staff and providers!

I have been going here for years and they have been great. Within the last couple of years they added Dr. Shani Rerecich to their doctor list. She is one of the best doctors I have seen. Her goal was to get me the very best vision. I have a special eye condition and she spent the time to find the best solution and worked thru the details worked out. She is the best!

After years of going to this place they quit taking our insurance and didn't even tell us. At check in, they took the insurance card, asked if there were any changes (there weren't on our side). Then, instead of a free exam (or copay) as our insurance entitles us to, they sent a bill for over $600!
And it was our fault for not checking? But, we did, at check in, give them our card. All the liars and frauds had to do was say, "sorry, not covered".
Repeated attempts to resolve were unsuccessful.

The office staff here are either woefully understaffed or just incompetent. They can't figure out insurance billing. They don't call to let you know when your contacts have arrived. They put you on hold instantly when you call in. Just as bad when you come in person. One time I tried to pick up contacts and they tried to charge me when it was supposed to be covered by insurance. When I protested, they just gave me my contacts and said they'd figure it out later because it was so busy. Another time they STILL couldn't figure out to bill insurance, so I gave up and decided to find a different provider

The visit itself was okay, but they didn't bill my insurance correctly. I kept calling the billing department, but it took them several weeks of leaving messages before they returned my call. They finally got it worked out and my insurance paid. 5 months later, I've started getting new bills from them (with no description). Again, I've been calling and leaving messages, with no reply. Needless to say, I'll be going somewhere else for eye care.

First off my prescription was wrong. So I had to wait a year to get another exam Somewhere else. The glasses I got from the incorrect prescription cost me several hundred dollars and because I didn't get them there,as recommended by the staff, I was just out the money. Then my insurance paid them promptly but I have continued to receive bills for the past year. I sent them proof and the billing people never call back. In short I had no useable glasses, was out hundreds of dollars and will probably be sent to collections unless I pay them again. STAY FAR AWAy!!!!

In the past coupla years I've had some major "issues" with my eyes: tearing, dry eyes, and other problems that I ended up visiting multiple opthalmologists to try to diagnose and cure. I'm talking like 10 visits in the past 4-6 months. Dr Hughes was super-helpful and while he did not ultimately cure my problem, he tried everything he could and took plenty of time to work with me to nail down the issue. He is patient, knowledgeable and helpful (and so is the staff!). At a certain point, he felt I needed to see a specialist and recommended me to 2 other Dr's, one of whom

I have never been moved to write a review before. But I called a half dozen eye care places Sunday (yesterday) with concerns about an extremely red, irritated eye. Despite not being a patient here, they called me back first thing this Monday morning, asked about my symptoms (my eye is feeling better) and gave me recommendations for eye drops and eye care. Most places seem to either ignore your call because you're not a patient, or will make you come in for an appointment before helping you. I was blown away. I can only imagine how wonderful they are with their actual clients.

Excellent doctors, friendly staff! My husband and I moved to Seattle a few months ago and needed to find new healthcare providers. I first made an appointment with a place close to where we live, just for the convenience. That was a mistake I won't be making again. The first place didn't care about us, they just wanted our money and tried to up-sell us on contacts and glasses. Who does that?! They rushed the appointments and got both our prescriptions wrong. I called my vision insurance provider to ask that we be allowed a second opinion.

I highly recommend Dr. Grady Hughes, MD and Seattle Eye Care for all of your eye and corrective lenses/glasses needs. I had something lodged in my eye and Dr. Hughes expertly extracted it with minimal discomfort. He was skilled, very intelligent and compassionate. I also needed new glasses and Shawn helped me pick a stylish yet affordable pair right on the spot. Since Dr. Hughes is an MD my regular (non vision) health insurance plan covered my visit! The overall impression I had of this doctor and clinic was professional, compassionate, expert and patient centered. Dr. Hughes has won Seattle&apos
