The lifetime of a tooth, dental crown, dental implant, porcelain veneer, filling, or other cosmetic dental restoration largely depends on how it is cared for. Excellent oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups have been shown to lengthen the duration of life of a tooth and dental restorations.
Although it may seem hard to squeeze in the extra few minutes each day to floss and brush your teeth, those extra few minutes can also greatly extend the life of your teeth and dental restorations.Many patients are seen in our office for cleanings twice yearly. Others require an additional cleaning or 2 depending on the condition of their gums and their level of home care.

Periodontal disease is often painless, and you may not be aware that you have a problem until your gums and the supporting bone are seriously damaged. The good news is that periodontal diseases often can be treated in the early stages with scaling and root planing. During a checkup, the dentist examines your gums for periodontal problems.
A bridge may be recommended if you're missing one or more teeth. Gaps left by missing teeth eventually cause the remaining teeth to rotate or shift into the empty spaces, resulting in a bad bite. The imbalance caused by missing teeth can also lead to gum disease and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.
Invisalign has changed the face of orthodontics. Instead of wire brackets, custom-made series of aligners are created specifically for you. These aligners are constructed of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you simply wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements our dentist has planned out for you.
A crown is used to entirely cover or "cap" a damaged tooth. Besides strengthening a damaged tooth, a crown can be used to improve its appearance, shape or alignment. A crown can also be placed on top of an implant to provide a tooth-like shape and structure. Porcelain or ceramic crowns can be matched to the color of your natural teeth.

I'm going to have a mini venting moment. Let me start by saying the dentists here are great. I'm very picky with dentists so even when I moved to NYC and to Boston in the past years, I've always tried to come back to this dental office.
However, there's a new receptionist that just can't seem to get it together. The second to the last time she booked my appointment, she didn't reserve enough time and actually tried to tell me to go home after an exam without routine cleaning. The best dentist ever. Super flexible, reliable, always ready to answer a phone and help you out, even in a pinch. Lost a crown at the height of Covid and they popped a temporary one on the next day and I had a new permanent one the next week. Dr. Costello's playlists are top notch, too. Great little mom and pop operation here, super efficient and highly recommended.

This would have been my ideal and regular dentist but both time I went, I've had negative experience. Dr. Costello is very condescending and immature if he is asked questions. He left me in the chair abruptly because I was asking too many questions and didn't even tell me he was done. I waited there for 10 min+ and he was just ignoring the situation. Such childish behavior.

Being my first time at Dentists on Washington and my first time back to any dentist since before the pandemic, I didn't know what to expect. I paid out of pocket, but they provided great specials. I was able to have two of my fillings replaced and they feel ten times better than my original ones! All in all, I am very happy with my experience!

I don’t even know where to begin. Everyone here was so lovely. From the front office staff to the Hygienist to Dr. Costello and Dr. Ngo. I’ve never had a tooth extracted before and was so absolutely scared to death about getting 2 wisdom teeth pulled but everyone here made it feel a lot less scary. Everyone made sure I was comfortable and explained to me that my comfort was the most important part of everything. I’m still recovering now but wanted to make sure I stopped by here to thank everyone again. I could go on and on about how great u all are but I’m gonna get back to resting. Thank

I had a lovely experience in this office. They walked me through the process of getting an exam, my insurance, and the cost of treatment. Everyone was kind and pleasant.
Like other patients of this practice who complained here about being shocked by the number of cavities they were told they had, I also was told I had quite a few. Seven, to be exact. I was shocked and surprised, but I knew it had been a while since I had last been to the dentist, so I believed them. I was upset and nervous, but they kindly walked me through the treatment, the cost and the options. They even gave me a discount

I only made the initial review to warn others about the potential of not being reached out to and truly didn't think anyone would reach out to me. One of the dentists called me but I was in a meeting so I didn't answer and was reached out to via Yelp by a receptionist. In that initial message, they said they never got my online appointment request so I forwarded the confirmation to them saying it was sent. On the voicemail the dentist left, they said they have gotten 4 voicemails this year and mine was one of them... 4 voicemails and somehow I didn't

The best dentist experience I've had in 5+ years. I moved to Point Breeze last month and decided to find a new dentist closer to me (plus I've only been in Philly for a year). The entire team here is amazing. The ladies behind the desk were very professional and sweet, setting up and appointment was easy, and they made filing insurance a breeze as well. I came here for a 6 month check up and cleaning, and ended up needing two of my fillings replaced. I broke off part of my front tooth on my way to Philadelphia right before Christmas Eve and upcoming first meeting with the parents of my boyfriend.
Remember I was cheering myself up singing “All I want for Christmas is two front teeth” and trying to find a professional who could set aside time for me at that busiest time of the year with my dental emergency case.

I have nothing but raving reviews for Dentists on Washington! Dr. Costello and Dr. Ngo are the most informative, caring, and talented dentists in the city! They'll always greet you with a smile (and make you love yours!). With a comfortable space like theirs, I've never felt so relaxed at the dentist before. Dr. Costello usually has a great selection of music playing in the background while he works, but if music isn't your thing they even have iPads mounted to the lighting fixtures so you can catch up on the Netflix show you've been hooked on while they work!!

Absolutely best dentistry in the city, I would 100% recommend. I live in old city, and it is an easy Uber to 6th and Washington.
I went in with some nerve pain last week, and Dr. Costello was great and engaging the entire time. Letting me know the cause and extent of my tooth ache, while walking me through prevention steps and future care.
Just an overall great experience. Going to the dentist is never fun, but this place certainly mitigates that experience.

I was horrified when i took my daughter there and they said she had 14 cavities. Its a super chill professional place and she enjoyed the experience but i cried. It cost me 400 dollars and i could only take care of 2 cavities.
Guess what? Later, when she was in LA, she went to another dentist and she did not have 14 cavities, only two.
Ridiculous.

I brought my Son in today for his first exam. He is 2 1/2 years old. I was nervous since he cries even getting his hair cut. What a wonderful experience! From start to finish the staff was amazing. The office is beautiful and modern. They offered him a tablet with shows to watch and the dentist was so sweet and kind and most importantly went at his pace. She didn't rush anything because as she told me, "We want him to be comfortable here more and more, each time he visits." I left happy that we had found such a great office.

I love this place. It's weird to say that about a dentist's office, but it's always such a good experience. Everyone is so friendly, compassionate, and thoughtful. Dr. Ngo and Dr. Costello are awesome and they play great music in the office! The waiting area almost feels like a spa, there are always beautiful orchids everywhere. Highly, highly recommend.

I love my experience here! I started coming here last summer and have been really pleased with my services. Drs. Costello and Ngo are great at their job and have a team of positive, welcoming people that make the entire experience a memorable one.

I really love these guys. I've been coming here for about a year now, and the service is equally good every time. I've had some pretty horrible dentists in my lifetime, so I was relieved to find that everyone here is super friendly, prompt with seeing me (appointments usually never take longer than 45-60 minutes), and upfront about every procedure I've ever had done here. Unlike other dentists, I never felt coerced into getting braces or tooth whitening--instead, Dr. Ngo explained the pros and cons of both of these services, had another employee call the insurance company for me

Ngo and Costello immediately saw what the actual problem with my tooth was, and stayed at their office well past closing to help me. I went in for a normal cleaning/exam, and the dentist told me I had 7 cavities, which was odd to me because I had had only one in my whole life that needed filling before. I didn't have dental insurance at the time, so I was hesitant to get them all done as it would have cost me over $1000. I asked if the cavities could be prioritized in order of urgency, and he replied that they were all of equal importance.
