Routine ocular examinations typically include a refraction test to help the doctor determine if you need prescription lenses, as well as what prescription you need in order to see properly.Refractions also help your doctor diagnose certain eye conditions. First visits typically take up to two hours, depending on the doctor, number of tests and complexity of tests required.

The professional staff is good in what they trained for and in which they are experienced.
Clerical staff in the majority of professional offices needs training so they can function with a courteous (respectful) and professional capacity as the doctors and professional staff deserves ... even if the patient is not "nice".
People in pain and/or discomfort may not be in a good mood although I never heard and/or saw a patient be discourteous to the clerical and medical staff.
When clerical employees are good to look at and talk with (clean and easy on the eyes with work not recreation dress), customers

I had a 10:15 appointment and showed up 5 minutes early and checked in. The staff is friendly and I am an established patient. I waited one and a half hours and saw people come and go and I finally went to the office staff and said that I had a 10:15 appointment and after an hour and a half, and asked why was I now the only person in the waiting room at 11:45. The office person said she would find out. Apparently the office staff can't check with the staff on issues like this because after about 5 minutes the office worker said that no one had come out to the front office so she still did

I can always count on University Eye Specialists to give me the best care. The staff is very supportive and helpful. I've seen a few different doctors at different UES locations and everyone was super kind and extremely dedicated in helping me get the care I needed. Shout out to Vanessa! And thank you all!

I got repeatedly called about scheduling a eye scan I cancelled weeks ago. I got calls multiple times a week. Explainimg I no longer needed it, but still got calls every week usually more than once a week. After getting fitted for contacts(I had to take off work with no pay) they call back to get another fitment they dropped the ball on getting when I was there. So they now expect me to.take off work again to go in because they aren't remotely flexible on their hours. I am not going to be out hundreds of dollars due to their constant issues they have amongst themselves. I will go elsewhere.

Dr. Harris is a consumate professional who takes the time and care needed to assure that the patient is comfortable with the procedures being performed. He then spends time after the exam to explain the results in a way that is perfectly clear. Thank you for your dedication and care over the past 15 or so years that you have given to both myself and my wife Susan

I had not been out in public for 4 months due to the outbreak of Covid19. So I was concerned about going to my appointment. But when I walked into the waiting room I saw that no one was in there. They did not allow visitors in. And they had spaced out appointments so that there would not be many patients in the room at the same time. And all of the employees wore masks. And all patients were required to wear masks. Also they had taped off the chairs to provide social distancing. Therefore I as a person with underlying health issues and a compromised immune system felt very much at ease. Thank you

Cannot say enough about Dr. Rouse and his incredible nurse Lisa!! Lisa was so amazing to my grandparents! My grandparents drove over 7 hours to see him! He treated them like family and was extremely optimistic and encouraging!!! He spent as much time with them in their appointment that they needed to feel better than when they walked in! My grandparents said they have never treated with such care and compassion at a Doctor's appointment. I highly highly recommend!!! He is special special and talented Doctor!!

My appointment was at the Hardin Valley location on Wednesday, Nov. 19th. I was able to be seen within hours the same day I called. I had somehow injured the iris area of my eye. It was very irritated, sore, and hurting, and had developed both a cyst and infection. I was able to be seen the same day that I called. The ladies at check-in and check-out were nothing less than super friendly, kind, and accommodating. I saw and spoke with the nurse first, who took her time getting my info by asking detailed questions and allowing me to answer with no rush. She then thoroughly examined my eye and vision

I have been a patient at the University Eye Specialists for several years and have been pleased with the different specialists at all three locations. When I called this morning with a problem, I was given an appointment within 2 hours after I explained my concern to a very patient receptionist. The visit to the Maryville office was great. The attendant was patient in taking information and recording the reason for my visit. Dr. Doss was especially patient and thorough in his evaluation of my concern. My husband and I were very pleased with his testing, evaluation, and suggestion for followup.
