Services
Esther is one of those people with the ability to fascinate you every time you have the good fortune to run into her. If she's not fashioning a new hat from leftover fabric and cardboard tubing, she is interviewing her fellow residents, encouraging them to tell their life stories in front of a crowd.

Took care of a loved one in their rehabilitation center. It started out fine but between their COVID restrictions, shuffling of staff in my loved ones case, and basically pushing my loved one out without much help, it went from fine to bad. Definitely not happy with their efforts to help our family. Goals not met and it really appears like they’re pushing their patient out than helping them and their families. Do not recommend their rehab facility.

My mother was working here. she lost me to foster care as a child for abuse. my mother was found abusing patients here and instead of charging her with crimes against patients they instead pushed her to resign so patients and family have no idea why their family dies or has injuries. these places are cash cows that treat elderly very badly and they put the POC in the basement when my mom was employed their. unsafe place. she has harmed ppl in many facilities and because the establishment doesn’t want bad press they ignore so she goes to the next place and harms patients. this has gone on for

My mom's first stay at gurwin on floor 2 for her first 7 day stay was good. Then she was sent back to the hospital because she had an infection which was not gurwins fault..
After the hospital stay she returned to qurwin on a vent and feeding tube. She told me many of the people were not nice and handled her roughly. My mom was not a complianer and always looked at the positive. Upon arriving she was half vaccinated with pifszer which caused her to get sick and is when she had her first hospitalization. After the 1st vaccine she double pneumonia and her copd flared up. During her second stay at

My dad had a horrible experience at this facility. Everyone seemed nice at first but he was admitted on a Thursday or Friday and although we're both vaccinated they wouldn't let me in to see him. Then the weekend hit and my dad complained he had no TV or he needed assistance and no one was around. We tried to call and call and we couldn't reach anyone so I drove there and had his nurse come out and speak to me. He was in a room with no TV for three days and no one cared. He just sat there rotting in his room for days!!! How can that happen to another human being? The social worker got involved

After careful research of various other rehabilitation locations, and hearing so many good things about Gurwin Commack, my family had decided that this was where my 78 year old mom’s rehabilitation was going to take place.

My Dad is 97 and came down with the flu recently. After two weeks at the VA he was ready to leave the hospital, but not ready to go home. The people at Gurwin took care of him with respect and professionalism. Every aspect of his stay was first class, even the food and he is a finicky eater--at best.
Caregivers, therapists, administrators, social workers... everyone... demonstrated a level of professionalism and caring that was heartwarming.
I cannot express my gratitude too strongly to the professionals at Gurwin.

My father is currently at Gurwin for rehab after being in the ICU and on a vent for almost 2 weeks. He has been there for a little over 2 weeks. The facility is nice and clean. The Physical therapy has been great. The PT staff is excellent and my father is slowly getting better. The Nursing staff is not the greatest- either they are very understaffed or the nurses and aides are lazy. When visiting my dad, on many occasions he asked for his pain medication or to be moved from the wheelchair to the bed due to being in pain and you'll have about 3 or 4 different aides come to the room and say 'They

I would like to share my wonderful experience at the Gurwin Center. I had both of my knees replaced in February of 2018. I was transferred from the hospital to the Gurwin Center in the evening. I was met with very attentive staff and a meal was ordered for me immediately. The staff made sure I was comfortable and that I had everything I needed.
The recovery for bilateral knee replacement is a painful and difficult. The rehabilitation staff was incredibly supportive, patient and well versed in how to enhance my recovery! I could not have done without their constant encouragement!

My grandfather was in Gurwin for well over 2 years. He did exceptionally well. Upon admission, he received intensive rehabilitation from extraordinary physical therapists. Medical care was superb and the nursing care was excellent. My children loved to visit, spending time in front of the huge aquarium and bird aviary. The physical facility is beautiful. Would recommend Gurwin to anyone in need of its services.

Our grandfather spent his last years at Gurwin and we could not have asked for a more wonderful facility. The nursing staff and therapists were amazing – caring, compassionate and well trained. The floors and room were bright, clean and beautiful and devoid of any hospital smells. The care was very comprehensive and our loved one was treated with tremendous dignity and respect. Specials thanks to their amazing staff!
