Services
Gordon Kimura, born and raised in Honolulu, HI, started his Jiu Jitsu training in 2007 in Florida while serving in the Air Force. Due to the lack of Jiu Jitsu academies in the area, training consisted of instruction and rolling sessions in a private classroom under a purple belt. After a few successful competitions in the Southeast Region, Gordon was promoted to Blue Belt 3 months into training.

After taking my daughter for one free trail lesson, she was hooked. Great coaches that motivate and inspire the kids to work hard and remain focused on the training while in a friendly environment.
Unlike other mix martial art forms, my daughter is actively rolling (sparing) every practice. This gets her used to the real force that she may experience in a real life altercation.
Would recommend Inverse JJ to any family interested in getting their kids involved in a activity that keeps them active while learning a useful skill that they can carry the rest of their lives.

I have loved this facility since I started over 2 years ago. We started with my son and eventually myself and wife joined. Very family friendly, extremely clean, and the instructions from the staff is fantastic.
It is great to know that between the two school locations, you can train up to 6 days a week with several class times and options.
The instructions from the professor are flowed down to the other coaches so you can be sure that what you (or your child) is learning at one location is the same set of instructions being taught at the other location.

Everything about this gym has been fantastic.
The coaches are all highly engaging and do a fantastic job. Everyone is warm and welcoming each day, regardless of rank.
Also, as others have mentioned, the gym is very clean, which is always a plus.

I was very hesitant as I did not know the culture nor anything about jiu jitsu but almost instantly I realized this was a welcoming environment. The instructors are not only professionals but challenge you as well. I am 2 weeks in and I already feel more confident with what I have learned. Great environment awesome team ,,,, highly recommend for newbies like me!! I’d also like to add with the Pandemic I was impressed with the level of cleanliness and precautions put in place to protect their members. “Kudos Inverse”

I personally have wanted to try Jiu-jitsu for the longest time and when I finally made the decision to join inverse it was one of the best decisions I’ve made in awhile. Before I get into how classes are being ran I would like to talk about how friendly and welcoming the owner Tina was. When I first started, I initially had so many questions about so many different things and Tina took time out of her busy schedule to answer them whether it was questions about schedules or how to get started she answered them with enthusiasm and gave as much information as possible! Walked in for a free trial with inverse bjj. It was a awesome, welcoming experience. Tina and the instructor were both excellent. The gym was clean and the staff took care to maximize safety as we get back on the mats in respect to covid-19. I'm new to the area and looking to try a few academies. But I must say I was impressed with Inverse BJJ

I was visiting from out of town and was not disappointed while visiting Inverse Jiu Jitsu. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. A lot of the upper belts gave me advice and helped me drill techniques. It truely is a positive and fun environment to train in and it really is like a family. I've never seen so many people excited to roll on a Friday evening; that says a lot! I will definitly be coming back when I visit Tucson in the future! Thank you for a great experience :D

Inverse Tuscon / Vail is one of the best jiujitsu academies that I have been to in the world(and I have been to many). The facility is clean, instruction is great and the people there are so amazing. My husband and I came to do seminars and teach at Inverse but recently visited in some down time just because the people there are so amazing. If you go there, you will understand. The energy is second to none. A++ from me, 5 stare and 10/10!

I have been going to this place for about one year now and it's amazing to say the least. All the instructors are top notch and really care about your progress. Gordon is a world class competitor but his teaching style can relate to everyone. Jiujitsu can be very intimidating but the environment that inverse has created is very welcoming, clean, friendly and family oriented. I would highly recommend giving this place a try and to top it off you get a class for free to trial it out. The Yoga is also a big plus with the teachers having a variety of practice. I hope to meet new faces!

Amazing jiu jitsu classes and instructors.
Kids: Coach Izzy and Coach Ariel generally teach the kids classes together along with help from Nebil and Grant. It makes a big difference having multiple instructors on the mat to give the kids the attention they need. They are all extremely patient and ensure the kids learn the techniques while keeping everyone safe. Age ranges from 4 year olds - early teens.
Adults: Black belt Gordon Kimura along with Izzy and Ariel teach the adult classes. It is great to be able to roll with black, brown, and purple belts on a regular basis. Classes are smaller
