Renters Outlet LLC was founded in 2011, when its Broker and owner Steve McFarlan, realized there was a need for a smaller and more personal residential property management company. After working many years for what Steve considers one of the biggest of the "big box" management companies, Steve decided that the time was right to start a new and more personal residential property management company.
We can provide you with complete leasing, and property management services for residential rental properties - including single family homes, townhomes & condos in the South of the River ("in the Apple Valley area"). Meet tenant at move-out, and using the move-in inspection report - determine if there is any tenant caused damage or repairs, and if so tenant will pay for with their security deposit funds.

It's ironic that when you read most of these reviews, they of course are from property owners and not tenants themselves. Having lived in a renters outlet unit for 3 years, I'll give you the renters perspective.
After graduation we found brand new townhouses in Northeast Minneapolis.. We set up a showing with Matt McFarlan and we were ready to commit immediately. From there, it took us no less than three weeks of calling, texting, and emailing Matt before we got moving. We were ready to move on to the next opportunity, because it felt like we had to beg this man to take a collective 38,000 dollars

Steve McFarand did a wonderful job of managing our home for the 2 1/2 years we rented it out. He found great tenants for us who paid their rent on time and left our home in the same clean condition, enabling us to refund all of their deposit. Steve and staff responded quickly and professionally when we had questions. Steve’s calm and kind manner was greatly appreciated. Scheduled a showing 3 weeks in advance, was given several confirmation emails, and had taken time away from work/father’s day to try to make said showing, only for it to be cancelled by Matt McFarland at 6am the morning of the showing. No prior communication other than confirming our showing multiple days in advance.
If you are looking for a place to rent, you’ll be better knocking door to door than dealing with these people. Horrible communication skills, horrible customer service. Honestly take your business to Craigslist for better treatment.

My tenants of 10 years gave notice the same month that my husband received a terminal diagnosis. I live over an hour from my property, so I was horrified. I spoke with several property managmemnt companies. All were competitively priced, but Steve just gave me a good vibe. I love that Renter's Outlet specialized in Dakota county, so I hired them to find new tenants. They found tenants to move in the first vacant day. I didn't even lose a month's rent. Over the years Steve has managed a number of my investment rental properties, always staying on top of things and being ahead of the curve. Property management is the greatest invention of all time, but I can only imagine it would actually be a nightmare unless you had a team like the folks at Renter's Outlet. They moved very quickly (since I had a tight timeline), got showings set up and a dozen interested parties within just DAYS of contacting them for the first time.
I didn't have to write up a lease, they do all the admin and legwork. Getting awesome quality renters into my place was a piece of cake. Literally all I did was call Renters Outlet and vacuum my house lol

I have worked with Steve since he started Renter's Outlet and he has managed ~10 units for me as well as a number of sales and rehabs. I cannot speak highly enough of Steve. It's not because he is able to lease properties quickly and keep my units at 100% occupancy. It's not that he offers full services including bill paying and contractor negotiation/management.
