I've been sporty all my life, running as a child, then playing field hockey for almost 20 years, including mixed hockey with the boys. I took up serious hiking, cycling and mountain biking after I tore my cruciate knee ligaments in my left leg back in 1997.
In 2005, after almost 20 years working in the Retail fashion industry, my husband and I moved to Cyprus to follow our dream and start a cycling and hiking business Wheelie Cyprus based on the unspoilt north west of the island near Polis.A friend introduced me to hatha yoga a year after moving to Cyprus.

Practicing sun salutations on a regular basis is the perfect way to build strength and flexibility. There are various forms of Surya Namaskar sequences, but the most common are the A series followed by the more challenging B series. Sun salutations are best practiced first thing in the morning, facing East as the sun rises.
It maintains the function and health of our bodily systems especially the endocrine and lymphatic systems. Yoga focusses the mind and builds courage and strength, especially when overcoming the fear, for example, of being upside down. Yoga helps with weight loss as asana practice warms the muscles, boosting the metabolism and detoxifying the body, eliminating waste from the body through stimulating the lymphatic system.
When I did my 3 week intensive teacher training, I had to follow a yogic diet for the time I was there. That meant eating ONLY vegetarian food and not consuming ANY alcohol. During my training, although I was working extremely hard and doing at least 4 hours of intensive yoga practice every day, I felt incredibly alive and super healthy.
My latest passion is making yummy bliss balls and this raw date nut balls recipe is super fast and SO easy. You just need a food processor or a blender and 15 minutes! You can add different flavours to suit your taste, but my current favourite is ginger and lemon. 1 cup dates (big juicy Medjool are the best), stones removed and soaked in water for 15 minutes then drained.
