We are 10,000 schools worldwide and growing! Most public and private schools are just variations on the conventional form of education. Riverstone Montessori Academy is excited to provide a truly unique approach that works for both remedial and advanced students. We offer Cobb County's most advanced, truly individualized academic program starting in preschool and extending through Middle School.

The success of our program allows our Middle School graduates to easily score at high school or college level on traditional achievement tests while gaining a skill set to succeed in future academic and professional environments. As you visit our site you will find information on the challenges facing education in the US, the failures of the conventional approach and the success of the AMI Montessori approach worldwide.

The term "Montessori" is not trademarked and, as a result, not all Montessori schools are the same. The AMI Montessori curriculum and class structure of Riverstone employs the original format designed by Dr. Maria Montessori. It is used world-wide and is the most complex and advanced system currently in practice.
Teachers receive a Master's level training in all academic subject areas spanning 3-6 years. This training also addresses complex social, emotional & developmental needs. Teachers are fully versed in the use of specific materials and classroom design. AMI trained teachers can work in schools throughout the world.
In Montessori, we do not give tests as part of our curriculum, but we do offer an annual, standardized, skills-based test (Iowa Test of Basic Skills) to children 3rd grade and up.

Despite not taking a single test throughout the year, Riverstone students' standardized test scores not only meet standards ("meets standards" scores are most commonly published by other private/public schools), but the majority of Riverstone students exceed these standards by several grade levels.
When a topic is discussed, students turn to classroom materials which provide hands-on activities for instruction or find the information through their own research at the library or on the internet.

When they have become sufficiently familiar with a subject they can arrange a field study (usually only consisting of 3-6 students and not the entire class as Montessori is focused on individual and not class lesson plans) to study the subject in a real world setting.EXAMPLE: Students who study geography and the effects of water on land will first research the topic.
Montessori's philosophy toward child development and learning lets children pursue their interests as they evolve, instead of forcing them into a strict regime. Given the above examples, it's no surprise this style of teaching is a popular method used in schools around the world. Other Montessori alumni include Julia Child, Thomas Edison and Henry Ford.

Absolutely amazing! The staff are friendly and understanding, and the curriculum is perfectly tailored. All of the students are very nice, and the entire place just feels lie a huge family. The animal care/micro farm are also a perfect place for growth. Overall, I completely recommend.
