Bethesda Home & Retirement Center
We are not an institution, we are an award-winning senior living community but most of all we are a family. We embrace the aging process, and believe in an energetic and vibrant care community, where our residents have choices, where they feel affirmed, and where they are purposefully engaged in a meaningful life.

Our long-term residents maintain their independence while benefiting from our personalized skilled nursing care that is available when needed. Our long-term care options give you or your loved one the required assistance or supervision for all activities of daily life. If you or your loved one needs a place to recover from a surgery, injury, or illness, our highly regarded short-term rehabilitation services may be the right choice for you.
Services
For over 100 years, Bethesda Rehab & Senior Care has had a presence in the community that has empowered residents to live independent and full lives. In 1907, Hildur Baade, along with a group of concerned Christians and friends, founded the Norwegian Lutheran Bethesda Home Association to serve the elderly people of the community.
Bethesda Rehab & Senior Care recognizes the importance of retaining experienced staff in all departments. Their longevity reflects job satisfaction and a strong commitment to our residents. We are pleased that our turnover rate remains far below the staggering national average of 45% or more annually for long-term care workers.
There are countless benefits of choosing a not-for-profit senior care community, and nonprofit status is just one of Bethesda's unique features. Bethesda is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who measure success by the positive impact the organization has on the community. All profits are re-invested in the programs and services that enhance the lives of residents.
Life Enrichment at Bethesda means supporting residents in maintaining a full and fun day. The Life Enrichment team works to create a full calendar of activities that keep residents' body, mind and spirit engaged in a purposeful life. As a part of Bethesda's Life Enrichment Ministries, we also offer our residents spiritual and pastoral care programs.
When you or someone you love is searching for short-term rehab or long-term care, it is important to choose the best possible option. Our reputation for high quality care is validated by the outcome measurements collected by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. NEW FOR 2020 - we are pleased to announce we have been added to Kev's Best as one of the five best nursing homes in Chicago!

My mother was here in hospice after getting COVID. Everyone was compassionate and caring. The nurses took such good care of her, making sure she was clean and comfortable. I am so grateful that I found this place.

Bethesda staff has been providing us with excellent insights as to how the residents and staff are doing through pictures on Social media and calls from the nurses. I feel this places was God Sent for my grandfather. From phone calls, to skype calls to updates (weekly through email) and for going above and beyond the basic needs of the residents, you truly feel that your relative is amongst family. We are blessed to call Bethesda his home. Thank you for all you do!

Bethesda is clean, modern, and has wonderful and caring employees. My father was well taken care of while he was there. The CNA's and nurses were awesome. The physical therapist was knowledgeable, caring, and supportive. Admin staff were professional and empathetic. Due to work schedules some of us went to visit him early or late and were always welcome. It is welcoming and very safe. I highly recommend Bethesda!
