I want to write both a 5 star review for the initial visit with Dr. Nguyen. He was great!!!! However his staff NEEDS to do better and is a disservice to his practice as well as Dr. Le. I understand this is COVID times but the way in which we have to call to get into the storefront is a bit overkill. It's a small shop and you can see a person walk up to the door. A person has to call and they pick up and then they walk about 100 feet to open the door and won't let you in with a mask. Hospitals even let you just walk in with a mask! It just feels uninviting. First time visiting and they were great! I am glad I went to this location since they had free retinal image scanning to go along with the usual eye exam for a prescription. The optometrist explained in full detail of my retinal scan and what I should look out for especially since I have very near-sighted vision along with an elongated eyeball. Not only did they provide free retinal image scanning, the optometrist went above and beyond to explain in full detail on the type of lenses I should get since I do work with computer screens nonstop every day along with a re-evaluation of my previous prescription

So far my experience here hasn't been to amazing due to some small but kinda important issues 1 is that the appointment take a long time to be available and the fact that if you don't have insurance and if your insurance only pays half or less then half your going to pay a big chunk out your pocket my bill came out to 312 without insurance and having to pick the cheapest frame also when they finally arrived in order to pick them up you have to make another appointment and the appointment is available almost two weeks later at a certain time just to pick them up like really? One star to customer service I just got right now from Leslie!! Really rude and unprofessional when i was inquiring about fee's to refill my daughters contact RX! I get glasses through medical and usually pay out of pocket for contacts. I am aware medical does not pay for contacts and I am a returning customer willing to pay and she would not book and refuse to Re-use my debit information from the prior visit! She let her personal moods and understanding of things get in the way of her job and I don't appreciate her confronting me that I was the one being rude! Why would I first of all

I grew up in the LA area and had been going to the same eye doctor that my mom grew up going to, but upon my move to San Diego I had to find a doctor down here which made me nervous because I was used to great "like-family" care back home. It's a small office located in a retail shopping center, but it is very modern and clean. I have seen both Dr. Le and Dr. Nguyen and both are equally as kind, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Dr. Kelvin Nguyen is superb! I usually am very uncomfortable and have anxiety at the optometrist but he made me feel calm. His staff are wonderful as well! Their customer service is always "on-point" and they are VERY helpful. Cursed with indecision, they always offer to help me narrow down my choices. Parking sucks but it's worth your time!

The staff are very nice here. Dr. Nguyen is so amazingly warm and friendly too! He takes the time to show you images of your optic nerve which I had never had an optometrist do before. He also gave me his honest opinion of not needing a new pair of lenses right now which I REALLY appreciate. It is great when a place does not try to sell you on items that you don't truly need. Dr. Nguyen is the best optometrist I've ever had!!

They always have a "will return" sign on the window and are never back by the time they say they will be, times are wrong and can never get an appointment, one I cancelled and the second one they called me to cancel for x reason, now I cant get an appointment????
I'm back to school Monday and I haven't even gotten my contact prescription right. They also forgot to order my try out contacts and I found out by calling back about 1-2 months after, even then I wasn't mad, crap happens you know?

Although I do not reside in Southern California, I am compelled to provide a thorough review for San Diego Vision Care Optometry.
I come down to San Diego often for business. A couple of years ago (before I started reviewing on Yelp), I had a serious pain in my eye.
I mentioned it to my colleague, who suggested that I come to SD Vision Care, since I was nearby.
My first impression when coming in is that the business is immaculately clean and organized. There was not one pair of glasses which were strewn about. Everyone was smiles and full of energy.
They immediately accommodated me, and Drs. Nguyen

Business moved! New address is on here, 3807 Fairmont Ave suite 200. But please note that it is now in a new location, and the main picture on here is the old location. This place has been great. Though I just made an apt and the doctor that had been there for years has moved away. They said that there are two new optometrists there now, we'll see!

I called in, scheduled an appointment with the nice lady in the front, Elizabeth was super nice, friendly and helpful. I got there, she checked me in, I filled out some paper work and got seen by doctors Joseph right away. He was very knowledgeable, we explored some options and thanks to him and his staff I'm rocking some super cool glasses.

I just moved to San Diego and was looking for an optometrist so I could get some new glasses. Dr. Toth was kind, professional, and the entire experience was simple and quick (but not rushed). From being able to easily schedule an exam online to offering a nice collection of frames, I am so happy to have found this place.
I read in a different review that parking is an issue but this was not the case for me. I parked one block west and had no problems. I also saw a couple reviews saying the front desk people were not as nice but again, not at all the case for me. They were friendly, informative

Went to get contact fitting. Supposedly my insurance had changed and I had no idea. They did an extremely poor job of communicating this with me. The doctor didn't even dilate my eyes or offer to which is part of the check up.. I won't be going back.
Front staff was extremely nice and cordial though! Even if they didn't understand what was going on.

Dr. Toth is the best eye doctor I've ever met, my prescription is always on point, prices are as low as you can get and the quality is always the best, they have the best lenses and the wait time is zero! They start helping you as soon as you step into the office, the staff is super friendly always looking to give you the best care possible and always looking for ways to save a couple of bucks! Don't look any longer! And choose Dr. Toth as your new Eye Doctor

While I really liked the optometrist himself (super friendly, very professional and takes his time with you), his receptionists aren't the very best.
I called in to check a return policy for my new glasses, which won't stay on my face. Solid frames are sliding off of my face constantly, even after being adjusted. The woman puts me "on hold" and hangs up on me instead. I call back and suddenly, she can't hear me, I call back a third time and she explains that there is no return policy on glasses.

I been going through to this clinic for 3 years and never had a problem until recently. I bought some frames and took them to get my prescription put in .And when I went back to get them they had gave them to someone else. & the person that has them doesn't want tot return them :( & I keep calling and they don't want to do nothing about it.
