Owner Dennis Bigelow began his career in auto body repair back in 1993; by 1996 he was the owner of A1 Auto Body, a 6,000 square foot facility located in East Providence. In 2007 Dennis bought his biggest competitor in the area, Custom Auto Body, and merged the two into A1 Custom Auto Body.

Our team strives for a hassle-free experience, working collaboratively to ensure your job is done right the first time. Our I-CAR Platinum Class, aluminum certified technicians have extensive training and experience in all aspects of collision repair and refinishing. We even go above and beyond with car and truck reconditioning for most repairs.
Being in an accident is at best an annoyance. However, the actions you take immediately following the incident can save lives, reduce the impact of injuries and save time and money. Both Rhode Island and Massachusetts have laws regarding the filing of car accident reports within a specified time if there is damage to either vehicle in excess of $1,000, or death or injury occurs.

A-1 Auto Body is fantastic! I was in a car accident and brought my SUV to their shop. Everyone at the front office was so kind and informative about the entire process. They handled everything with my insurance company and it was just a stress-free experience. Throughout the entire time they kept me up to date on my vehicle's progress and that gave me reassurance that my car was being worked on. My car looks like new again! So happy that I brought my car to A-1 Auto Body.

When someone crashes into your car it's traumatic. They made it as painless as possible, between dealing with my insurance (USAA) which they're a recommended shop to having the rental car dropped off at the location. They made it easy - I even received regular text updates, and now can't even tell that there was a bump in my side panel. Highly recommend!

Everyone was very friendly and caring. Ed and Pamela and the team was great at A1 Auto Body, they always fully explain any work that needs to be done and I am very happy with my repairs. But, they're assistance to me didnt end there, they're kindness to work with me on the financial end goes beyond the expected role in business and I will never forget it. I brought my car in for auto body repair after an accident. I was told the car would be ready in a week. A1 ordered the wrong part and said it would take another week. They explained the insurance company told them to order off market parts and that the part didn't fit when it came in. So, they had to order the part from the manufacturer. It actually took ~2 1/2 weeks for a very minor repair.
They blamed it on the insurance company. However, they were not telling the truth. The insurance company said A1 would have to pay for the additional week of car rental because of "their"

I brought my car here to repair damages from a recent storm and the car came back good as new and clean! I called frequently to check on the status of my car as my rental was not covered under insurance and I was hoping to have my car back as soon as possible. The staff was super nice and understanding and never got annoyed with my calls. I will definitely use this shop again if my car needs repairs!

Unfortunately, I have had to get auto body repairs for three years in a row. I am not a great parker.
The repairs needed have ranged from extensive to minor. Each time, A 1 did a great job, and, as important to me, treated me respectfully and professionally. This a first class place. I hope I don't have any more accidents but if I do, this is where I will go. THey are lovely people including the young man who drove me back and forth from my house while the car was in the shop.

I had my car repaired at A1 after a car hit my rare bumper and was recommend here from Amica. I had an awful experience. I was told I needed a rare bumper which wouldn't take a long time to repair however it took a week and a half. When I called to check on the progress I was told it was a heat wave and the employers were taking it slow. I was then told that the price was doubled from what I was originally told which is total BS for just a bumper. Talk about scamming the insurance company. I had a great experience at A1. I went through USAA and A1 is a preferred shop, and they made the experience very easy and did a great job. Enterprise is right down the road and convenient to access a rental vehicle. My only complaint is that they did not tell me they removed our car seats in the back; they were reinstalled but not exactly as we preferred. However all in all for a body shop it was a great experience, I would highly recommend A1.

I've never written a review, but the professionalism and quality of work provided by Dennis and the team of A1 Auto Body really necessitated one. I got in an accident a few weeks before graduation and my auto insurance recommended A1 Auto Body. I had a tight time frame between the accident and moving out-of-state and Dennis worked quickly to get my car in and returned it in incredible condition. My car was rear-ended and had scratches and chipped paint on the bumper. I brought my car to A1, since it was a preferred location of the insurance company. My entire experience with A1 was impressive. The place itself is very clean and modern. The owner was visible and talking to customers when I dropped off my car. They work directly with Enterprise, which makes things super easy when you need a rental car. I picked up my car a few days ago and it looks amazing. I recently hit a deer with my new 2015 f350. Had what just looked like bumper damage. Took my truck to A1. They handled the insurance company, replaced all the bumper brackets, they also found a Crack in my griil. Excellent work. They gave my wife a ride home after she dropped off the truck. Detailed the truck inside and out free of charge. I hope I don't need to go back but if I do I it's A1
