My approach to yoga is both down-to-earth and yet light-hearted. I teach vigorous, alignment focused vinyasa classes that will make you sweat - and chuckle. Although my class is challenging, it's also surprisingly accessible. I focus on postural alignment and give hands-on and verbal adjustments to help you find and feel the correct position in each posture.

A class with coworkers designed to help you de-stress, to have more focus so that you are efficient and productive, and to give physical relief to 'desk body' posture. Remember that you don't need to be strong or flexible to start yoga-we will work on that together and watch it change. You will be reminded to give yourself and your body time to learn, not to worry or to be harsh with yourself.
You will practice in the comfort of your own home at a time that is best for you - no need to commute to class. Individual instruction to target and compliment if you are getting ready for an event/race (running, biking, wedding etc.). Remember: you don't need to be strong or flexible to start yoga-we will work on your strength and flexibility together.
Join me for two yoga filled days and nights in the redwoods of Sonoma County at Ratna Ling Retreat Center. This location is absolutely beautiful, peaceful and remote, perfect for unwinding from the stimulus of your everyday demands. We will have four yoga practices, one workshop, two optional pranayama/meditation sessions, and free time to explore and enjoy the natural surroundings.

I've practiced Yoga on and off for about 10yrs. I'm fairly active and workout regularly. I attended a 90-min vinyasa flow class with Jody for about two years and she's been the best instructor I've ever had. She does a great job of keeping the class moving while also allowing those who need time or space to take it. Plus she's fun and animated while not being over the top. Sign up for a class!

I absolutely LOVE going to Jody's yoga class. It's such a treat. Not only does she give amazing instruction, but she adds a touch of humor and inspiration, which makes the experience truly unique. Jody is the best yoga teacher I've ever had! Her classes offer the ideal combo for me of getting a real workout, doing some inner spiritual work, and leaving feeling like I'm recharged and ready to live my best life! I learned so much in terms of alignment and doing poses the right way, after years of teachers not really paying attention to my posture, positioning, etc. I LOVE her quotes of the week. Jody is a real gem. Her multi-faceted approach to teaching (feeding mind, body and spirit) is invaluable. Her verbal cues and physical adjustments are spot-on. I've taken classes from different yoga instructors, but Jody is still my absolute favorite. Jody is so wonderful with helping every student in the class, no matter what level you are. Unfortunately, my schedule only allows me to take her class once a week, but I look forward to that class at Mission Cliffs every week. I always feel AMAZING after her class. Thank you Jody!

Jody is a godsend. She teaches corporate yoga at my office once a week for a few years now. I began my yoga practice with her, I've never done yoga before (and I am now going on year two of my yoga practice!) I had a lower back injury and needed to lose weight after gaining so much weight from immobility and the inability to go to the gym like I was able to in the past before my injury. Love her! She's a spirited fire cracker. She makes me work and I have more than once cursed the woman as I was bringing my knee to my ear...and without fail, I delight in the blissful cloud of peaceful equanimity I arrive at after every class. Jody is definitely the best yoga teacher I've ever had! Her verbal and physical corrections to poses really helped me improve my practice and strength. Her classes build your strength and balance until you can suddenly do something you'd never done before.

Jody is the bestest! After 15+ years of practicing yoga I'm a picky person when it comes to my yoga guides, so I was elated to find Jody at the Mission Cliffs gym last year. She has a solid practice for experienced and novice yogis alike, and a wonderful attitude to boot. I wholeheartedly agree with everything else said here on Yelp. Ahhh, where to start? Jody Hahn, how delightful it is to have you in my life. I have been practicing yoga on a regular basis for almost 2 years, and Jody is hands down one of my favorite teachers. As a beginner, her teaching style created a strong foundation in my practice. I still think about my form and body position in the way that she described it. Jody explains the basics and fundamentals of yoga in a very open, easy to understand way. After just 1 year with Jody I had made more progress in my practice than in my previous 8 years of yoga. Jody is by far the best yoga instructor I've ever had. Before I attended Jody's class at Yoga Mayu I'd been doing yoga regularly for 8 years with 4 different regular instructors (each time I moved I would find an instructor I liked and then stick with the person). I would echo many of the comments made in the reviews below. But the primary reason I feel comfortable making such a strong statement about Jody's instruction is because of the exciting improvement I've seen

I am not a fan of gym-yoga nor uber-mumbo-jumbo-spirit yoga, BUT I do love to get in a good workout, feel my muscles activate, and leave feeling all zen with a clear head. Jody manages to do that in the most normal, natural, and present way, all the while imparting a little bit of her own spirit and thoughts into your world. And, although I'm not sure I'll ever get my butt far enough up in the air to do an eagle pose, I know that Jody will never stop encouraging me to try and have a sense of humor about it. Jody is not your typical yoga instructor. But then again, who is? Each teacher has different backgrounds of study be it Hatha, Ashtanga or Iyengar. Therefore, that style of yoga the person comes from will be reflected in instruction. And then? Then there's Jody who brings a wonderful method of instruction that allows people to discover their strengths. She closes her classes with "Balancing, body, mind and spirit," and I really think that's the essence of what is accomplished in each class I have with her

In the dictionary next to the word "delightful" should be a picture of Jody. My spirit is frequently uplifted by her humor, her depth and lightheartedness. She walks closely on that line between disciplined yoga practice and not taking herself too seriously. One cannot find a better instructor in the city.
