It's hard to know where to begin with my gratitude for Raquel + her classes! I started taking Raquel's Therapeutic Yoga class at Yoga Tree Potrero, based on a recommendation with my physical therapist. One of the things I noticed right away, was how amazing I felt in my body at the end of class. I felt grounded, relaxed, peaceful yet energized. I have had some painful injuries (and surgeries) in my neck, forearms, and ankle that have made it difficult for me to exercise without exacerbating my injuries. I tried a couple Therapeutic Yoga classes, but I struggled in the group class environment because I was tight and afraid of hurting myself further. I finally decided to do private sessions, and that is when I met Raquel. Raquel is the first yoga mentor I worked with. Every prominent career requires a mentorship or residency, and teaching yoga is no different. After taking one class from Raquel, I saw how she could elevate my teaching past my comfort zone! She made me realize the benefits of planning ahead (I was always a "winger"), knowing more about anatomy, and welcoming students as they are. Raquel is a fantastic yoga instructor. In fact, she was the one who got me hooked on the practice. I had taken a handful of yoga classes over the years and didn't enjoy the experience. On a whim I dropped into one of Raquel's classes and it was one of the best decisions I have made in quite some time!
Raquel's style really clicked with me, she's very down to earth. I enjoy her humor, curiosity, and willingness to put up with my grumbling during class. She's always willing to help me modify poses and never pushes past reasonable boundaries.
Raquel's classes are a real treat and something I look forward to on a weekly basis!

Thank you so much for the last few months of my introduction into yoga. I never understood the value of yoga before I was introduced to Raquel and Satori. She made me feel welcome and her class was amazing. My chiropractor is so happy with the progress I have made since starting yoga. She knows all the things that can help you relax any part of your muscles. She can change her yoga plan on the fly depending on the needs of her class. Raquel's thoughtful and engaging teaching has compelled me schedule my work-days around her classes - I love the way she comes up with new and innovative ways to unstick the "sticky bits" in your body.
Most recently, she's guided me through recovery of an injured coccyx (tail-bone) - she's helped me modify my practice to optimize healing - and her knowledge of anatomy and physiology is extensive.

I took a bunch of Raquel's Grounding Flow and Gentle Yoga classes when I lived downtown. Now I moved and her classes are basically what I missed the most. Raquel will adapt to your needs, is creative in her poses and sequences, and will fix problems you never knew you had. She is funny and clearly gets a lot of joy out of teaching yoga. Give her a try- you will not regret it.

I am SO glad I finally tried a private yoga session with Raquel!! I have always enjoyed her classes, her pace, her clear explanations... but when I found myself working with a sudden serious shoulder injury I needed some 1 on 1 support to help me rehab and strengthen while paying special attention to what I should and should not be doing in class as I am healing.
Her attention to details on how I needed to engage below my shoulder blades more often in all of my poses, and focus on opening the sides of my neck consistently thru my day made me feel better immediately and able to get back to regular

Raquel is an awesome yogi! From her unique juicy movements and routines to use of all sorts of interesting props, to her positive energy, soothing voice, and wonderfully unique personality!

My thoughtful daughter scheduled a session with Raquel for me to help my achy hips. I was impressed with her professionalism and more than that her empathy. She really got in and pinpointed my problem areas and lead me through a series of movements to mitigate my pain. The one on one with her worked for me. Raquel has truly been a blessing for my pregnancy! As a health care professional it was difficult to accommodate the benefits of yoga in my busy schedule. I got engaged a few months ago and was inspired to get in better shape. Gotta look good in my dress! I've been doing 1x1 sessions with Raquel for 2 months now and am planning to continue my lessons until I'm able to master a handstand. That's been a dream of mine since the '96 Olympics.
With Raquel's help, I FINALLY HAVE MUSCLES! For the first time in my life, my arms are more than just long things that look like poles! I'd also like to think that with all the squats and chair poses she pushes me to do that my behind is getting more tone.

My husband and I connected with Raquel when I was just starting my first pregnancy. I hadn't practiced yoga in over 6 months and my husband, who's 6'3" with a football build, had never done yoga before. We both wanted to practice yoga together for both the physical and mental benefits. I have been taking personal yoga sessions with Raquel for over a month. I thought personal yoga sessions would be a good idea, as I could deepen my understanding of yoga and focus on poses to address my back issues. I found Raquel through Yelp, and she has been a wonderful trainer who is very attentive to my body's issues, such as a right hip that is out of alignment and a very stiff lower back. I am feeling better and learning about proper form for poses that you normally wouldn't get from a yoga class.

I went to Raquel's yoga retreat at the end of March at Mayacamas Ranch and don't have better things to say about it. It was so well thought-out, fun, relaxing, and a great way to just unplug. First of all, Mayacamas Ranch is a beautiful getaway spot in Calistoga. It has a bunch of cabins, a central yoga room, a nice dining hall, and a gorgeous pool that overlooks the valley. The food at Mayacamas Ranch is absolutely insane, I had the best salmon, veggies, and desserts- you'll be well fed the entire weekend.

Raquel has a deep curiosity about yoga and human physiology that makes practice fascinating, inspiring, and fun. She is calming, kind, funny, passionate, and knowledgeable. I adore her. My enthusiasm for and quality of life have increased significantly since I began practicing with Raquel. An hour spent with Raquel is an hour well spent. Or a weekend, in fact--I attended her retreat at Mayacamas Ranch last month, and it was a slice of Heaven. Can't wait for the next. I registered for Raquel's Spring Renewal Retreat without knowing her, and was so greatly surprised! She is an amazing instructor, very knowledgeable and attentive to each person in the class. The sessions were always fun and relaxing.
Mayacamas ranch was the perfect place for the retreat, with its amazing location and their beyond delicious food!
I can honestly say that I went home relaxed and renewed, and I'm looking forward for her next retreat!

I've been taking yoga classes with Raquel at Satori for about a year now, and she is really an amazing instructor. I love her Yoga for Stress Reduction class on Fridays at lunchtime. It's a perfect blend of yin and restorative yoga, with a 15-20 minute savasana at the end, and I always come out of class feeling happy and peaceful! Such a perfect way to end the week. I also took a spine workshop with her that has totally improved my posture! She really helped make me more aware of how my body works, which is so helpful for all of my workouts.
