Dr. Bret Wilken grew up in western Kansas. He graduated from Kansas State University and graduated with honors from The University of Houston College of Optometry. He practiced as an associate with a large group in Richardson for 8 years and opened his own office with his wife in 2002. He became licensed as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist in 2006.

At Wilken Family Eye Care, our goal is promote good eye health and enable you to have the clearest vision possible. We accept several types of vision insurance, cash, checks, and most credit cards. We inform our Coppell patients about exam and treatment costs at the beginning of your appointment. If you require a breakdown of costs, please let us know.

I highly recommend this office for your eye care needs. I went here this morning, after realizing I had a potential corneal ulcer. I've gotten them in the past, and know how important it is to get them treated immediately. Problem was, I just moved to the area from out of state and did not have an eye doctor yet! Luckily, this was the second place I called- I knew from how friendly and professional they were on the phone, that this was the right place to go. They were able to squeeze me in with barely any notice for an appointment that same day. The receptionist was very friendly and reassuring

My son and I are very happy with the positive experience we encounter every time we enter Wilkens Family Eye Care. Everyone is knowledgeable and each person takes the time to answer questions in person and even does a great job via email afterwards. I was very impressed with the time Dr. Wilken took to answer all my questions and give a thorough and detailed examination of my eyes. I'm starting to wear contacts again now after mostly wearing glasses for the past year because Dr. Wilken helped me realize that the previous brand of specialty contacts I had been wearing wasn't appropriate for my astigmatism level. I've never had such a pleasant and informative experience at an optometrist and I'm happy that my office is so close to this location, as I will definitely be returning.

Amazing place with educated, fashionable, and friendly people. It is so convenient with HOURS and the location. This is our go to glass place forever. My husband and I love it!!! I explained a style we wanted and literally 2 minutes later we were given a selection of what our taste was...and we found frames we were truly happy with--astonished with the service. Setting up the appointment was great, the Doctor I saw was great and gave me a very nice experience, however the immediate after service was horrible. I was ordering my contacts and was told to wait to receive clearance....ummmm no ma'am the doctor is right there let's reconfirm and the doctor frankly said order them. Even though everything was written down the lady Ms.G said me what my request for contacts were and the power...hmmmm. I came here after being dissatisfied at my previous eye doctor. From the start the staff was kind & professional. I found their pricing very fair, and even chose to capitalize on a special they were running for a glasses/contacts bundle. Over all I will definitely refer people here, and will continue coming here year after year. I actually chose this office due to the Yelp reviews & was not disappointed!

My first visit but won't be my last. Dr. Wilken was extremely friendly and honest about whether I needed to buy glasses and get a prescription filled or whether I could continue using reading glasses. He explained everything I needed to know about how my vision is working and if Lasik could be an option. The whole staff was very friendly as well and it was easy!

My family of 2 adults and 2 kids have been seeing the Wilkens for at least 5 years now for glasses and contacts, and even one time for a minor eye injury. We have had great experiences there. They try to work with our insurance policies (which have changed several times) and usually have great luck getting the maximum coverage benefits for us. They can get busy during the before-school-starts summer rush but other wise seem to accommodate our scheduling needs very well. Both Dr's Wilken are kind and patient and sweet. This was my daughter's first eye appointment ever and I'm glad I came to Wilken Family Eye Care. My daughter is 5 years old and is pretty opinionated and rambunctious. So happy that the whole staff was very understanding and able to get my child to cooperate for the eye exams. Dr. Wilken was wonderful as well. I don't understand how doctors do not seem to get that their practice begins and ends with the competency of their front office staff. Calling in and making an appointment over a week in advance and then showing up to find that the appointment had never actually been made at all by their staff? That's wholly inexcusable. And there was no real attempt to make it right other than telling me to wait and see if one of the other people that actually got scheduled didn't show up.

I'm not one to complain but this is just inexcusable. The blonde eyeglass technician is AWFUL to deal with. I came in yesterday to get fitted for my glasses that I bought. They started off way too wide for my face, and they STILL were too wide after the FOURTH time she adjusted them. When I said no it's still too wide, it was then that she literally rolled her eyes at me and hung her head back with frustration as she walked back into the office. At that point I asked for the guy to help me as he is always pleasant to deal with. Overall everyone there is nice, especially Mr. and Mrs. Wilken

Loved it! I'm pretty busy and I despise phone calls, no matter how short they may be, so being able to schedule my appointment via email was excellent! I felt comfortable in the office and during the exam. Dr. Stephanie Wilken was very thorough and she explained everything in a clear and concise manner without being condescending. I originally found Dr. Stephanie Wilken back when she worked in Highland Park in another practice. Yet, when I returned to that office again, she had moved on but I wasn't told where. Several years later, I happened upon her new practice only accidentally, when looking for an eye doctor closer to my new apartment. Upon seeing her at my first appointment, we recognized each other (a plus when it's so many years apart, and only one or two previous visits, at that).

My 8 year old daughter and I went in last week and Dr. Stephanie Wilken was FABULOUS with her. Dr Stephanie took her time and made my daughter giggle and engaged her in conversation and was very patient with her. Dr. Stephanie then explained everything to me and my daughter in a clear and concise way.
My 13 year old son went to see Dr. Bret Wilken and it was a great visit also, Dr. Bret explained everything he saw in the Digital mapping and gave a thorough exam.
