But when someone you love is struggling with a behavioral or mental health disorder that requires residential care, you're well aware that one difficult conversation is a price worth paying. The good news is that with proper preparation, the talk may go much more smoothly than you anticipate - and the result may change (or save) your loved one's life.
Evaluating residential treatment programs can be a challenging experience. In addition to finding a reputable and effective program, you also have to determine if that program is best prepared to meet your specific needs. Why this matters: Many addiction treatment programs claim to be the best.

Licenses and accreditations provide objective evidence of quality, service, and effectiveness from third-party organizations that specialize in assessing these types of programs.Be extremely wary of unlicensed, non-accredited programs, as well as programs that can't answer the next question to your satisfaction.
Yes, residential treatment may be expensive - but the personal and financial costs of delaying or avoiding treatment can be much higher. We have heard every imaginable excuse for not choosing to admit for treatment, and financial reasons are an excuse we hear often. Instead of focusing on the cost of going to treatment, consider the many potential costs are of not going to treatment.

Please reconsider. I was going to write a long review but Julie M. below saved me the trouble (see below as it covers just about everything.) I'll be pretty brief. It used to supposedly be one of the best until they got bought by a corporation from Franklin, Tennessee. My CA interventionist sent me here. I'm not sure what happened, besides a massive staff exodus and clients leaving AMA after two days. Morale among staff and clients is low. Avoid Elaine the Asst. Admin. Some of the staff are cool and trying but there are crazy issues like 1 hour waits for meds. Would you like meds or breakfast

I found my way to Sierra Tucson after a severe suicide attempt. There were no available facilities near me and the thought of being in the sunshine during a cold winter was appealing. I flew from NY to AZ for their care.

This is NOT the family run business that it formerly was. It is a large conglomerate owned business and is run as such. They will ALWAYS get payment first and will not do anything until they see the money. It was previously an all inclusive program, which had the added services of body work, chiropractic and additional therapies. This is NOT included in your price. You must

This place is not where you need to go to recover.
I have been here 28 days and leave on Thursday 1/13/22. My experience here has been brutal and I hope it can help you in choosing another recovery center that can meet your needs. Upon checking in you will be placed in Copper Sky aka a psych ward, I was there for 5 days although the physicians on staff medically cleared me on day one. The reason I was not able to transfer was due to the fact that there were no beds available on the "campus" side.
In addition, they have residential therapists on staff that you are to be able to call in a time

ST saved/changed my life for the better. Doc Reynolds is the best psychiatrist out there. He remained professional and genuinely caring, even thought I still had a very hard head while out there. He believed in me, and saw so much in me that I didn’t see/believe in myself. Therapists Vic and Kris were an absolute pleasure to work with. Highly recommend ST for the RWB group they offer. Met brothers & sisters out there who will be life long friends. All staff are kind and helpful, facilities were clean and well kept, food was absolutely delicious, and there’s a very wide variety of classes/treatments

Are they direct? YES! Are they caring? YES! Do people relax and lash out and return after writing bad reviews (I am most definitely not speaking of myself) Yes! BUT (a word the word we are not supposed to use) I would and will go back whenever I want or need to. I currently don't want to go back because I am grieving and need help and don't know where to turn to and know my therapist will help if I call because they know, that every patient, wishes they never had to be a patient, but life's journey took me there and at least I know I can trust them. Did I want to be there HA!! NO

What a terribly run facility I would give it minus 10 ! Left 2 days ago . Self admitted for anxiety. Put in addiction / trauma program. Therapist late to groups or no shows . Appointments with Dr.'s late or cancelled. Needs & wants never addressed , process group spent with everyone airing their grievances about the place . Lodges old dirty not cleaned properly. Grounds are depressing , outdoor areas furniture falling apart. Currently Covid outbreak . I could go on and on . I wish I would have trusted all the other terrible reviews . Stay

Do not go there for pain management. They left me dependent on different medication and did nothing for my pain. I spent lots of money with no insurance $46K for 30 days of walking around going to classes that had nothing to do with my pain. Tried to talk me into believing I had some trauma that caused my CRPS. Only trauma have had is trying to find a physician to treat my pain. This was my last ditch effort to try and get some help. Dr that is head of their chronic pain dept had helped me in past so thought would try one last time. Well in 30 days I saw him 2x and was on same meds the whole

They said they accept VA insurance however they do not know how to set up after care through VA and sent me home with no prescriptions. Several things were not done or done way too late while I was there for 60 days on the VA’s dime. Also they treated RWB members horrible and scoffed at traditions. The nurses were the best, head chef was mean and miserable, RASCS were wonderful, administration was the worst due to poor communication and maintaining rules equally for everyone.

If you are trying to decide on a place to go or to send a loved one, please do not choose Sierra Tucson. I was a patient last spring and it was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. This is a bold statement especially coming from a survivor of childhood trauma. From the beginning of my experience until the end, there were never any clearly defined rules and unless you were able to advocate for yourself, it was a complete disaster. If you read the information on Sierra Tucson’s website, you are led to believe that it is staffed by well trained mental health professionals, this is not

If I could put zero stars I would. RUN far away from this facility. They do not care about someone’s loved one getting better or even getting back to a family member. My husband has come out ten times worst and this has completely destroyed his mental health. The professionals do not listen to family members and indulge in delusional behaviors and let inappropriate relationships happen in this facility. Do not entrust your loved one in this facility. This facility has single handedly destroyed my husband from the person he was to a completely different worst off person. Please don’t even consider

Last year I had a series of medical events that pushed me into the darkest most difficult place of my entire life. I was in incredible pain, both physically and emotionally with my situation diminishing rapidly. I did not know where to turn to try to stabilize my condition and doctors in my home state of Alaska just kept recommending hospitalizations, medications, and therapy to no end. I met with my family and told them I needed to end my life, I just couldn't take the suffering any longer from my (at the time) undiagnosed medical condition and they started reaching out to places they though could

Lifelong adult struggle with treatment resistant depression, anxiety, complex ptsd. Sadly I've been in several treatment centres in my lifetime; however, this was by far the ABSOLUTE WORST EVER EXPERIENCE. The place is beautiful and offers many services often for additional costs, but it was not effective as a matter of fact I was worse off for going here. This company is a nightmare. They have staff so afraid to ask questions that patients are harmed. The constant mix up in drugs . The fact that the doctor forgets to put a drugs in the systems and staff will not believe you or verify

Initially it is difficult for anyone to ask for help. There is such a stigma with mental health. Over all Sierra Tucson and staff taught me so much about myself. Awareness. Meditation, thoughts are just thoughts, they are not facts. I had a phenomenal therapist who taught me how to have a voice. I miss process group and most the one on one’s. You have to put in the work to receive a beginning of healing. I am finding it is a day by day opportunity. The Equine therapy Was one of many experiences that stand out to me. I will say that Sierra Tucson got me on the right path regarding my mental health and addiction. But my therapist tried to get me to admit that my roommate was difficult to deal with in an attempt to have her removed from the facility. The same therapist allowed a threatening male client to verbally attack my roommate in group therapy and I had come to her defense to stop him. He told me that he switched group therapy due to the situation, yet the facility never tried to recitify the situation. I asked to be in classes, like the Mother's Sanctuary, that I knew would benefit me. I participated in everything that was available, and in my therapy groups. You can always find things to complain about, teachers reading from papers, insurance problems, or restrictions.... don't let those things prohibit you from healing. I decided I was there for me. If you need real help don't go here because you will waste your time and money and come out worse off than when you came in. It was probably better years ago when it was privately owned. Having a one on one session with your therapist once a week is not helping. They do have some great people but few of them. They have zero concern about people's safety especially women. I was witness to a man sexually harassing women residents and nothing was done. That alone speaks volumes about the operation. The program is geared to create a comprehensive individualized approach to finding, understanding and healing one's self physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Sierra Tucson impacts one's life in a warm, accepting, therapeutic and safe environment. The tools developed here for coping, grow and strengthen for the rest of your life. Like many other rehabs, this place either gets highly-positive or highly-negative reviews on Yelp. It is what it is.

I recently spent a month there and I had a highly positive experience. I found the staff to be very caring. The food is good. The grounds and mountain views are stunningly gorgeous. The desert sun is good for one's spirit and happiness.

Most residents I knew paid approximately $5,000 out of pocket for a month of treatment before insurance kicked in. When you look at this on a per-day basis ($166) and factor in food and housing, I think that it is a very good deal.

Being isolated at home due to the pandemic, I found myself falling into a deep depression. I was notified by Sierra Tucson in March that they had begun hosting online alumni support group meetings 3 times a day, 7 days a week!! I credit these meetings for providing me an opportunity to share my challenges in a safe and supportive space; I do not know where I would be if these meetings weren't available.

So because of the neglectful way that my son was treated and diagnosed, he is still not doing well. His health care providers in Las Vegas have failed to dig deeper and really find out what is wrong so now he is on the wrong medication once again. So I do stand by my original post because if we had not take our son to them, then he would not have the incorrect diagnosis. It takes so long to get a correct diagnosis, so facilities that do a neglectful job, need to be held accountable. Please do not think that just because the sales person calls you back, that this is the type of service

I was not the patient. I was the health care advocate for the patient. The patient was in for pain rehabilitation, not for alcohol, drugs or an eating disorder. My issue are long and numerous with Sierra Tucson. I think what is at the heart of my issues has a lot to do with when some venture capitalist take over health care facilities. Do a news search on venture capitalist, health care, business week (try one word) and see if you can find an article in a publication that has the last name of a man, first name Michael, that recently ran for president of the United States

SIERRA TUCSON IS NOT FOLLOWING COVID SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS!! In fact they lied numerous times to my husband, who just returned from a month long stay. He was told clearly by at least 3 different people that he could receive onsite Covid testing before returning home to his family. When he pursued that, he was given the run around, only to be told by upper management that they did not offer testing.
They lied to get his money, and then offered much less than what was promised. This place is charging 50-60k for a stay, and supposedly helping people learn integrity and health? What a joke.

Sad to see such low ratings, but not uncommon for a rehab to be rated low, not everyone is gonna get it, not everyone is going to make it..

Sierra Tucson played a vital roll in my shift from a drug addicted and emotionally damaged person into a functional loviNg and caring individual. There were some humps in the road along the way but ST gave me the resources to recover. Namely doctor Moyer. She was an amazing influence on my life and provided me with the gift of compassIon. I cannot say enough good things about her, I'd fly to Tucson to meet with her again.
