As a former salon and spa owner, I always love to acknowledge superior customer service and Bernardus does not disappoint!
My husband Bill and I both retired in October and we decided to book a couple of days at Bernardus to celebrate. We had been to the resort many times over the years for massage and meals but had never stayed overnight.
We were greeted with a glass of wine and an excellent desk staff. We had opted for one of the two Luxury Spa rooms (#1) and the room was amazing! Beautiful views of the mountains from our very private patio equipped with a jacuzzi, outdoor tables, chairs

We went for my husbands 65 bday with res at 5 pm because we had a toddler. We arrived at 448 and they told us the staff were in a meeting. We went to the bar and ordered a drink. The service was excellent but our reservation time came and went and went and at 510 we asked to be seated. Service and food were great!

This was an amazing stay with one hiccup, hence the four and not five star review.
Let me start with the positives. The property and rooms are immaculate, second to none in the area. We stayed in the Premium Santa Lucia room. The balcony, in room fire place and heated bathroom floors were great touches. We loved the spa amenities as well. Walking through the rose garden and the infinity adults only hot tub on the property were also highlights of our stay.
Now for the hiccup... I had called prior to our stay to request an early check in, knowing that our flight was arriving super early. I arrived

We stayed at Bernardus for one week and experienced nothing but pristine grounds and accomodating service. The outdoor areas are the most beautifully landscaped grounds I've ever seen at a hotel and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The food was also delicious at Lucia, the hotel restaurant, although the dinner service was a bit slow for being the final seating of the night. The adults-only jacuzzi was a lovely touch and we used it every night, usually alone. I cannot wait to return to this property.

We yarned for relaxation, refreshment, and repose in an elegant beautiful, and welcoming environment and that is exactly what we attained! The setting is gorgeous, the staff incredibly attentive and kind, the ambience inviting, and the food both delicious and attractively presented. I would like to give you a 10! Great place for really anyone - amazing attention to detail! Property beautiful! If you go spend time walk around and enjoy it - lavender so awesome - could spend hours watching the bees working so hard! The rose garden is phenomenal. Food, drinks, spa, pool = YES so good! Rooms nicely appointed - space to sit out and have a coffee or glass of wine! The valet team was great!

Lovely property in Carmel. We stayed here the night before attending a wedding nearby.
The property is immaculate, well maintained landscaping, cute paths leading to the rooms surrounded by beautiful flowers. Each room has a private patio , perfect for having breakfast or enjoying a glass of wine.
We went to dinner onsite with a large friendly but boisterous wedding party. The staff handled it well. The food was delicious and our servers couldn't have been more attentive.
At check out our car was handed back fully charged.
We will definitely be back to have a longer stay and enjoy

My fiancé and I were celebrating our anniversary and wanted to relax and also bring our fur baby with us. We decided on Bernardus and were so happy here! We really wish we booked another night there!
The property was pretty dark at night. Apple Maps took us to the service entrance which connects to their parking lot. It loops around so we eventually ended up at valet, but you can self park in their parking lot.

This place is so spectacular. My boyfriend decided to treat us since he's been working so much so we haven't really had an opportunity to spend time together. The services that we did were just fantastic. I got the gel manicure and pedicure, Felipa did my nails, and she was so precise with how she did them and just how much care and effort went into my nails was fantastic! She also holds great and wonderful conversation!!! My boyfriend and I also got massages, Raquel took care of me and Liz took care of my boyfriend. I got the swedish massage and my man got a deep tissue massage

Obviously you are NOT as "pet friendly" as you claim to be. That's 3 times HIGHER then properties near your facility.
Really??!! Super disappointed when I called to make a reservation for our Anniversary. Yes, it's already expensive here but it looks worth it. So my husband said, "if that's where you want to go then book it".
Yippee, I was sooooo excited and then my bubble was burst when they said my 2 dogs would be an ADDITIONAL $300 DOLLARS!!! I was like, "WHAT?!"

One of the best places to stay in the Carmel area. This resort is located in Carmel Valley. So you get a little warmer weather. Everything is still a short drive away. Not that you would go anywhere. All you need is right here.
Surrounded by the Bernardus winery, you get views of the grapevines and rolling hills that are just beautiful. Very peaceful and the best place to relax from everyday life. They will spoil you!
The rooms are stocked with plenty of goodies to eat and drink. Pool, spa and even an adults only spa for a relaxing soak.
Every time I stay here, I make new memorable memories. Highly

This was truly an amazing experience staying here even with Covid restrictions. The front desk staff were professional and answered all questions no matter how small. All the staff from valet, bell staff, room service and housekeeping all had the same level of great service! The amenities and complimentary items that are included matches what you pay for! We stayed in the Luxury Spa room that included own jacuzzi was enjoyable to have your privacy. The bathroom was impressive with large shower and two person soaking tube. The heated floors in bathroom was a nice touch during cold evening/morning

every bush, tree, vine meticulously staged. Every angel is picture perfect. While the resort is not large, walking around this resort is like walking through a picture book. The path to the rose garden is lovely. The rose garden is surrounded by a large vineyard - they produce their own wines!! I walked the grounds every morning to enjoy the scenery.

We're not frequent guests to Bernardus, having only stayed a total of 3-4 times. This isn't by choice - the bank just won't give us that many second mortgages :P Yes, it's super expensive ($500-600/night, minimum), but there's a reason for that. It's such a gorgeous, secluded property that's optimally designed (from facilities to services) for your maximal relaxation. COVID-19 has changes things for sure, but generally, this is still a great place to spend a couple days to get some well-deserved R&R.

Wow I never knew this place ever existed. Now its our new favorite weekend getway....
After going stir crazy and needed to get away from the house for a few days as kids and wife where about to kill each other, I stumbled across this place.
It was between the ritz carlton in half moon bay or here and I am so glad I chose this place.
It is so beautiful here... the staff and facilities are top notch... some of the best I've ever seen.
There is nothing about this place that has any flaws I have seen.
Even with a limited staff due to this coronavirus, they are still on top of everything

Bernardus Lodge is an oasis of relaxation and simple luxury amidst beautiful surroundings. From start to finish, our stay was delightful!
The best part about Bernardus is that it's uber pet friendly! Our pup was welcomed nearly everywhere! She was able to accompany us at breakfast and lunch. It was great seeing dogs of all shapes and sizes everywhere.
