Have you just started a new business? Did you know expenses incurred before a business begins operations are not allowed as current deductions? Generally, these start up costs must be amortized over a period of 180 months beginning in the month in which the business begins. However, based on the current tax provisions, you may elect to deduct up to $5,000 of business start-up and $5,000 of organizational costs paid or incurred.
Following are some generally recognized financial planning tools that may help you reduce your tax bill. Charitable Giving - Instead of selling your appreciated long-term securities, donate the stock instead and avoid paying tax on the unrealized gain while still getting a charitable tax deduction for the full fair market value.
Although the process is complex and frustrating, raising capital is the most basic of all business activities. When looking for financing, there are various sources to consider. For most new businesses, the main source of capital comes from savings and other forms of personal resources. There are better options available than credit cards that are often used for financing, even a small business loan.

I have been with Morling and Company for over 5 years. They have increased the cost of doing my taxes by 40% over the years with no change in the complexity in my taxes. When I called to ask for justification for the rise in cost, I was made to feel like an undervalued customer because I was not in their price point followed by a farewell and best of luck in finding a new tax service company. I regret staying with them as long as I have and really have no faith that Morling cares about their customers which is especially concerning since the advice I have received around tax preparation has always

John San Agustin is my CPA and much more. Best thing I ever did for my business was hire John. He is a pro and VERY gracious and patient with control freaks like me who don't know much but want to learn EVERYTHING.

I can't recommend John enough.

I am in the real estate industry and have been using Lou Battilana for over 20 years. He has saved me thousands and has a wealth of knowledge of real estate accounting and investment property exchanges. He always looks for ways to save me money and add to my bottom line. Everyone at the company is very professional, knowledgeable and efficient during the return filing process! Highly recommended!

I am a small business owner and amateur tax procrastinator. Before I started using Morling & Company a few years ago, I loathed everything about filing my yearly taxes and would almost rather have a root canal, if it would get me out of having to do my yearly taxes. My Dad, a very successful person with a complex tax situation, referred me to his accountant, Lou Battilana of Morling & Company. When I initially hired Morling & Company, Lou Battilana personally met with me and did my tax returns. He was awesome, focused and fast, while still finding all the deductions I was legally

My accountant is Jason Mendoza with Morling & Company. I am, let's just say, a financially thriving "art major" with a fear and loathing for financially based paperwork, planning, taxes and anything IRS related. He makes everything OK in my world and is funny and kind to boot.
He is prompt to answer my calls and emails and untangles my imagined hairballs - every time. Jason comes through under pressure like few I've ever seen. Thank you Jason:)

I have worked with Lou Battilana for over 15 years and have always had an excellent experience. Lou has become a trusted adviser and each year we talk about opportunities, financial planning, real estate, family, investments and other various potential directions. This year both he and his assistant Jason Mendoza came through with a last minute filing just under the 10/15 deadline with only 48 hours notice. These guys made it happen with ease and a professional and pleasant demeanor despite my obvious procrastination and last-minute fire-drill. Thanks again Lou and Jason!

Jerry has been my accountant for the past year and his advice could not be more valuable. Amazing! He has helped me navigate the waters of setting up my LLC, managing the success of my first year in business, buying a house, financial planning, business projections, deductions, and many more questions that I've thrown at him the over this past year. Criselda is Jerry's partner and she's always budget conscious, thorough and leaves no stone unturned, with tons of great advice on her end. They made a great duo.

I could not be happier working with the both of them. They treat me with

My taxes are not terribly complex. We hired Morling to execute them for us from the mid 90's until 2012 when we discovered that for two years in a row, they failed to file a critical schedule for us. It resulted in interest penalties and hours of frustrating back and forth to figure out what had happened. During the whole process, Morling was defensive and unhelpful. Their point of view is that they have bigger clients to serve. Avoid them at all costs if you want your taxes done properly!

I first read about Morling Co on yelp earlier in the year when I was doing 2013 taxes. This was my first time using an account, before coming here I used turbo tax. After finding out I qualified for the alternative minimum tax, I realized turbo tax wasn't going to cut it. Within a week I went from owing 18k to getting a small refund thanks to Jerry. I'm now in the middle of an audit for a refund from a few years back. Jerry is once again coming to the rescue. I would highly recommend seeing Jerry for any tax refunds. He bring a a ton of tax expertise to the table and will make sure you

I've been working with John San Agustin at Morling for the past two tax filings. He's freaking awesome. I was recommended to him by my financial advisor, after my previous accountant had screwed up on my taxes. He took immediate control of the situation, and the IRS didn't levy any fines. Every year the refund he gets me is larger than what Turbotax calculates for me. If you are looking for an accountant, do yourself a favor and go to John.

I never thought that I'd find myself writing a love letter to my accountant, but here we go:

I've been working with Jennifer Batuyong at Morling for a few years now, and recommend her highly to anybody who asks (and sometimes folks who don't!)

As an accountant, she knows her stuff and has guided me through the (typically painful and manual labor intensive) process of prepping my small biz and personal taxes, providing insight and value as we go. I have to say that I hate organizing my taxes but in working with Jennifer, the process has gotten easier, faster, and less intimidating

Jennifer Batuyong is my connection at Morling. She is the best thing to happen to my financial health since the wallet. She is unbelievable patient, I flake on half my meeting with her, and she stays smiling and calm. She has gottent me through a tax year where I personally was 3 different business entitties, and had a box of over 2000 reciepts that looked like old kleenex. Jennifer and Morling expertly sorted it all out in about 2 weeks, with maximum handholding, and minimal cost. Efficient, personable and proffessional, if you need Tax advice or any other kind of financial coaching....this is

After a nightmare with our former CPA, Jennifer Batuyong came ridiculously highly recommended by a colleague (who loves their CPA that much, c'mon?). Now I understand why. She is knowledgeable, nice and efficient. She answers any and all questions, often within minutes, even while she's on vacation. Wow. This level of service and professionalism is nearly impossible to find. Did I say wow?
