Geekoids has been operating in the Portland Metro area since August of 2000. We are a full service computer repair/consulting business, working out of our Tigard shop, as well as providing on-site service. We specialize in Virus/Spyware/Malware removal but also can provide general PC/Mac/Laptop repair and upgrade services. You can bring your computer in.
Services
Daunted by some of the technical aspects that he had little experience with, Doug approached Sean about helping him resolve those issues at a time when Sean was looking for assistance with some technical work he was consulting on. A partnership was formed!
Sean brought extensive knowledge of Sun hardware and Unix operating systems to the table, which has literally transformed the original plan of using Microsoft web and mail platforms into a much more stable (and secure) blend of Sun and Intel hardware running Linux, Solaris and OpenBSD.In August of 2000, when the first server was lit off, Geekoids consisted of two Celeron systems.

Too bad I didn't check all the 1* reviews here before getting involved with these morons. They make appointments which they simply do not cancel or keep, and it seems to me they do it every time! When I first contacted them, maybe six months ago, they took my computer away to fix what I thought was a software problem. Then Geekoids called to tell me it was a hardware problem and offered to sell me a refurbished Dell. (What do I know?) I said okay, and asked them to transfer everything from my old computer to the one they sold me. This business involved one appointment, which Geekoids failed

They lost my laptop ... and really didn't care!
This was several years ago and every once in awhile I fear that my laptop (the hard drive) is somewhere out there and who knows what could happen in the future.
I had bought a new laptop and wanted info transferred from the old one (the one that was lost) to the new one. OH! AND, I remember, they didn't even do the transfer!
First problem, not done in time. Had to go back several times (when they said it would be done). Second, laptop lost and staff really not at all alarmed.
Instead of telling me that they will keep me updated,

The two men from Geekoids who've done work for me have been extraordinary! Keith made housecalls (2) within hours of a reported problem(s). Doug walked me through a problem earlier today with enormous patience. I keep their business card on a linen board next to my desk, knowing that whatever happens with my PC, Geekoids are available for the fix.

I am very glad I did not entrust them with my entire machine.
I took in my external hard drive (very full-1 tb) after the power cord got knocked out a week ago.
The price quote seems/ed reasonable (based on the cost of a new one, plus restoring all the information) but I'm very apprehensive after reading the above reviews.
When I called they said 3-4 days. When I took it in Doug told me he'd have news tomorrow. I just called them back and upon my pressing, they admitted to not having gotten to it yet.
I feel this sort of deception is unnecessary. I wasn't in a huge rush to get it

OMG! What a mess this business is. You can't just take a group of computer geeks and start a business fixing computer problems. Geekoids needs to practice better customer service and improve their the services they say they can provide.
I'll save all the details so as not to bore you all, but I would never recommend anyone going to Geekoids. I took in my computer for some repair and they provided awful service. They took a VERY long time and never called me for updates even though I asked them to and they said they would. It was frustrating to have to keep calling them to check

So far so not so good. I dropped off my lap top three weeks ago and was told it would be 7-9 days before someone could look at it because they were so busy. I have a back up computer so 7-9 days wasn't such a big deal. The lady at Geekoids then said that after the diagnosis was complete that it would take another day or two to fix the computer. Sounds fine to me.
That was three weeks ago. Two weeks after I dropped off my lap top I called to get a status update and was told that my lap top was on deck for diagnosis and would receive a phone call the next day about what would be needed
