Yoga Upstairs
We warmly welcome you into our wonderful community at Yoga Upstairs. Our compassionate and skilled teachers offer individualized yoga instruction to help guide your personal exploration of yoga. Please come to class with an empty stomach, loose comfortable clothing and an open heart and mind. Our naturally lit studio has bamboo floors, yoga rope walls and an ample amount of props: mats, blankets, belts, bolsters, blocks, sand bags and chairs.

We offer various styles of yoga classes, which include; gentle, hatha, Iyengar, restorative and basic yoga. Besides the physical aspect of yoga, which helps to steady and quiet the mind, some of our classes offer a period of silent meditation. We also provide classes which are suitable for beginners and seniors.
Services
We would like to introduce ourselves-we are Cara Sorkin and Sri Hari R Moss, founders and directors of Yoga Upstairs. Over the years our yoga practice has equipped us with techniques and tools to fully enjoy our lives. We have active lives complete with family, friends and work, yet we have found-and you may, too-that a regular practice provides the energy and peace of mind we may need in our hectic lives.
Hatha Yoga practice strives to balance mind and body via physical postures and exercises (Asanas). Controlled breathing and the calming of the mind through relaxation and meditation. Suitable for beginners. Classic Yoga teaches poses with focus on correct alignment and precise action in the body. Introduction and expanded study of more intermediate poses is taught.
We offer a variety of pricing options for our students to make yoga classes as accessible as possible. Private sessions can benefit all students: new to yoga, recovering from injuries, creating a deeper connection or wanting to develop a home practice. Your instructor will design a sequence meeting your specific needs.
I am grateful to be a part of the Yoga upstairs Family. I look forward to connecting with you and being of service any way I can. Stop by the office or call me if you have any questions or just want to say hello. Patrice has been teaching for 20+ years. The journey started after realizing her family has a history of Heart Disease and High Blood pressure.
Cara Sorkin, Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor, began her practice while ill and came through with strength, health and well-being. She has been following her passion for Iyengar Yoga for over two decades. Cara is honored and excited to share her experience and love of yoga. She has had the exceptional opportunity to study directly with the Iyengars, both in the United States and in India.

Yoga Upstairs is MY yoga studio. It's small, personal and each teacher really cares about her/his students. No pressure to compete or keep up with people. Just be there for your own practice.
Every teacher I've had at Yoga Upstairs has been very good. Christy is the teacher I go to because I feel most in sync with her. A wonderful combination of getting challenged physically and at the same time being very spiritual.

Yoga Upstairs is a lovely studio with incredible high-quality and well-educated instructors. Pay this studio a visit no matter what level practitioner you are, and especially if you’re looking for a practice space that is traditional and intimate.

This yoga studio is the real thing. The instructors have both extreme care and high expertise. I always feel better when I live than when I first arrive. I have seen major improvements and healing from injuries and from Sciatica. I highly recommend this studio!

I have been a member of Yoga Upstairs for almost 10 years, and I try to attend classes 5 days a week when I am in town. The quality and variety of instructors and classes is excellent, from Iyengar to Hatha yoga for all ages. They are attentive to each students personal needs. Thanks to yoga, I have good flexibility and mobility at 70. Thanks, Yoga Upstairs!

I took yoga classes here a while ago, but it was so great and memorable that I need to write a review! I found this place on Groupon and it had a great deal. Their location is hidden and bland but the inside of the studio is beautiful, clean, and welcoming. The classes were small and probably one of the best adjustments and classes I have ever had. Every teacher I took a class with was perfect. I can't wait to be back here and I recommend everyone to try this place out!

Fantastic place. I just tried the one month trial membership for $45 and could not be more impressed. Super friendly, helpful staff, a non-competitive environemnt. Great patient teachers. Free yoga props. Clean studio on the small side but that works nicely for me. Easy parking too.

I love this place. I've always been intimidated to join a yoga class because I'm not so flexible and the poses looked difficult. Yoga Upstairs has classes for people just like me. They supply all of the right props and the best teachers. I am actually doing yoga now, and my body is thanking me every day. I am officially addicted. Thank you, Yoga Upstairs!!

Great studio. Good instructors. They have a variety of classes including yin/gentler yoga that other studios don't seem to have. Could you please add Kundalini? :-)

I am so thankful for this yoga studio. It was the first place I went to after having a couple of surgeries on my ankle. I did not know how I would feel being in a smaller studio. But, I love it. All the teachers are caring and always ask how my ankle is. They help my alignment with different poses. It's the most welcoming community. A lot of times I come out of there sweating and wobbly legs - they just shook for an hour and a handful of minutes getting back into shape - but, I have the biggest smile on my face. You don't have to be a pro and you can be an absolute beginner and have the

Yoga Upstairs has a wonderful personal feel to it, rather than a cold corporate feel. There's no pressure to show off. My instructor, Shondra, has great energy and keeps a close eye on everyone in the class so we do things correctly and don't injure ourselves.

I used a groupon for this. It was my first time doing yoga. The good news is that I learned a lot about Yoga, but the bad news is that I'm at another studio now.

This studio is way too small. The way it is laid out is very awkward. There is a room filled with props that you need, a very small hallway where you are supposed to leave your stuff, and then the yoga room. There is hardly any room to walk back and forth. There is no room to even put your shoes on.

Personally I found the original instructor for the basics to be really good. I liked her a lot, but I decided to try a different

Fantastic facility. I practiced for a month here with a Groupon and really enjoyed it. Sri Hari Moss is an excellent instructor. However, his classes run very full and one one occasion I left because the class was just too packed in. My favorite teachers were Paula Fortunato & Robbi La Londe, who provided exceptional instruction in a relaxed and peaceful environment. Their classes tended to be less cramped as well. For those of you concerned with overheating, I recommend attending an earlier class, away from the windows. Thankfully, They appeared to keep the air conditioning in check

I have been participating in classes at Yoga Upstairs for nearly a year, taking both Iyengar and Hatha classes regularly. This studio has helped me to recover from injuries that left my shoulders almost immobile, everyday I'm realizing a better range of motion and can do advanced poses I never thought possible! You will become part of the Yoga Upstairs family when you come here, it's a wonderful studio with the very best instructors and amazing personalized instruction in the area.

My first yoga experience and a great one! Small personalized instruction with very cool committed and dedicated instructors, many class options throughout the week, and great guest instructor events from time to time. Every instructor I had was graciously helpful to a first timer, and everyone in every class I attended was helpful and supportive. Has all the equipment or tools needed, such as mats, blocks, straps, and well maintained and well thought out wall equipment.

We stumbled across Yoga Upstairs after they had a local deal. Living in Thousand Oaks, this is not the closest studio but it is worth driving here to enjoy a great space with some wonderful instructors. This studio is just like Cheers. Everyone knows your name and there is a great sense of community. You are not going to find that at your standard pilates studio or regular gym. Another plus is the fact that they have an awesome selection of props including the 3 minute eggs which are these cool oval yoga blocks. Also this is the first place where I had a chance to do hanging child's

There seem to be two types of yoga studios in the world. The gigantic chain studios such as Yogaworks and smaller community focused studios. Personally I prefer a smaller, welcoming space to practice my Vinyasa or Ashtanga yoga. Yoga Upstairs is a great smaller studio with helpful instructors and an awesome selection of yoga props for you to use. I am so glad I found this studio and look forward to more classes here in the future.

I've been practicing yoga for 13 years and was excited to try Yoga Upstairs with a Groupon. It's a very sweet, quiet and unassuming location within a business park and the yoga room is cozy and intimate. Everything is very clean and orderly, so you feel serene as soon as you enter. I've taken a few of Sri Hari Moss' hatha classes, which were amazing, and an Iyengar class that Gina subbed - both of those teachers rock! I've also taken a few other classes and teachers and, although I personally didn't connect with them as much as Sri and Gina, they seemed proficient

I used to go to the 5:30 Hatha Yoga class with Chandra on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It was great. She really would focus on every student, correcting them if need be. The classes were small, and though I was one of the few males in attendance, I never felt out of place. She was very friendly and would stress the importance of modifying poses if you had any injuries.

I would have continued going, but I joined a workout group with my co-worker at the gym. I would definitely recommend this studio for anyone interested in a yoga class!

I have been coming here for the last two months and love, love, love it! The studio is immaculate and is a bright, beautiful place to practice yoga. The classes are wonderful and the teachers all really focus on teaching to the various levels. I personally love Julie 's classes in the mornings. At night (7-8:30 T/Th) Paula's classes are fantastic and she is very tuned in to what individual students need. This studio gets five stars for everything!
