Roo Lan Health Care is Lacey's original skilled nursing facility. We've been caring for members of the Lacey community for almost 50 years, sometimes even caring for multiple generations of the same family. Our story begins in the late 1960's when Mr. Root and Mr. Langdon, two longtime operators of nursing homes in the area, decided to open a new nursing facility along Carpenter Road.
Several years later in 1974, Roo Lan Gardens became the first nursing home in Lacey to be licensed as a skilled nursing facility. This allowed Roo Lan to change with the times and care for Lacey citizens on a temporary basis with the goal of eventually returning home.

Services
Roo Lan is acutely aware that buildings and equipment don't heal people, people heal people. To that end we have always placed a strong emphasis on hiring the best clinicians possible and ensuring low turnover. We're proud of the impressive number of staff that have decided to make Roo Lan not just their job but also their family.
Roo Lan is a Skilled Nursing and Long Term Care Community focused on caring for seniors with higher level health care needs. Many of our residents require 24-hour nursing care and/or a secure facility to remain safe and healthy. Families coming to us are looking for a home that has a proven history of caring for their residents with especially complex medical needs.

My brother went there and everything was okay...not great while he was paying 8,500.00 a month...but a few p months after his hundred thousand dollars was gone tney put him on a new medication and said he acted up...telling several versions of the story and then they kicked him out of there...he is doing fine on his new medication but they said his dementia is worse now than it was....when I took him there I asked do you take all his money and kick him out and they said. NO he would be welcome there the rest of his life. Which apparently was a lie.

The staff tries very hard to not only take care of the physical needs of the patients, but also provide them with kindness and friendship. My friend Cheryl is not an easy person, and they still hug her, and listen to her stories, and let me sprinkle birdseed in the garden so she can have subjects to draw. They certainly do more than just bring her pills (as some do elsewhere). I am grateful.

They push abuse under the rug when it's reported and then harrass and retaliate against staff that reports.
And to the response: if that were in fact true why did you lose 5 amazing employees in one week who reported and then got harrassed and had the facility use the Whistle Blowing Act against them. The abusers were spared and never lost a paycheck. In both the lodges and skilled nursing facility.

If I could rate this place a -10 I would I'm so freaking heartbroken my mom was there for a very short time before she died from dehydration!! This place is absolutely the worst my mom was alert enough to tell me she had to use the restroom so I went and told the nurses aid who was sitting in the hall way and she told me it's ok I'm like what's ok she can go in her pants because my other aid is nowhere around and I can't bring her to the bathroom by herself. How humiliating for my mom to have to go in her pants. My mom was alert she knew who I was ate big Macs with me and then like 2 weeks go by

I cannot tell you how wonderful Roo Lan staff were to my family and especially my father. He had been turned away from several agencies for one reason or another and had, basically was almost thrown out on his ear by Tacoma General. They were loving, caring and ever so patient. I cannot recommend them enough. If I could I would take every single staff out to dinner to show my appreciation.
