Women's Opportunity Rehab Center
The Woman's Opportunity Rehabilitation Center (The WORC) is a community correction program that offers an alternative to incarceration (ATI) programs for female offenders in and around Nassau County, NY. Our staff takes a holistic approach to providing services to this under-served population. The WORC has become a vital component of the criminal justice system.

Judges utilize the program as a 'true alternative' to a jail sentence. Through assessment, tutoring, counseling, and ultimately employment, WORC ends the womens' need for public assistance. The WORC offers a six month structured day reporting program that has proven to be effective.
Services
WORC is an educational program providing Adult Basic Education and GED training on-site, Monday through Friday from 9:30AM to 3:00PM. Female offenders are provided the opportunity to pay their debt to society without being incarcerated, thus saving tax payers thousands of dollars. The WORC program is cost effective, eliminating the cost of incarceration, the need for foster care placement of children and divesting them from public assistance.
The WORC program is the glue that bonds female offenders to their families again. We are the well from which they drink daily. The women in our program come to us broke and feeling discouraged. We reach out and help them identify these feelings so they can be dealt with. One young lady came into the program and did not have custody of her children.
The After School Tutorial Program offers engaging, enrichment, leadership, and learning opportunities for grades 1-12 students. In partnership with Children's Hope of India, the WORC program was able to offer after school programming for at risk youth living and or attending schools located within the Hempstead Union Free School District school zone Monday through Thursday from 3:00 - 6:00 pm.
