Originally from Carnoustie, Scotland, Grant worked throughout the United Kingdom in both corporate and private hotels and restaurants. Before joining us in Lumberville, Grant owned his own hotel near St. Andrews. Lucky for us he made the move to Bucks County where he assisted in overseeing the renovations and then turned his focus to his main talents, managing the Black Bass complex.
The Thompson family has a practice of honoring, protecting and preserving land and historic structures in the area. Family members live in nearby farms and together, they have protected over 1000 acres. Their lives are surrounded by numerous loving pets including the adoption of dozens of animals in need and providing them with a peaceful home.
Built in the 1740s, the Black Bass Hotel served as a haven for travelers, traders, and sportsmen. The famous tavern had many names through the years including Wall's Tavern, Lumberville Hotel, Temple Bar, The Rising Sun and finally The Black Bass Hotel. As one of the oldest inns in the country, we are proud to be included in the National Register of Historic Places.
Guests are welcome to select the room of their choice according to availability. We strongly suggest that you book your dinner reservation once you have confirmed your accommodations. Full pre-payment is required in advance. Breakfast is not included but is available at the Lumberville General Store.

Whether a formal plated dinner, elegant buffet or casual cocktail party, we'll provide you with an experience you and your guests won't soon forget. Went on a Tuesday night to celebrate my wife's birthday. We could only get a early seating time- arriving early there was only one couple present when we entered the dining room. We were ushered to a corner table way at the back which didn't much appeal to me. I was about to ask for another table but my wife thought the location was great so I kept my mouth shut. My wife ordered water while I ordered a Knob Creek and started to relax. I was beginning to like our table. Diane was our server for the evening. She was very friendly and efficient. At the end of the evening she presented my

My wife and I recently had dinner here and the best word to describe the experience was forgettable. Nothing was bad per say... But for a $200 meal I would expect some part of it to be memorable. Service was decent not great. Food was all bland from apps to desert. Not sure if a bartender called out but my server made our drinks at the bar after they took the order and made me a horrible Margherita. Most likely will be my last time there.

We have been customers for decades. Food has always been wonderful. Our server was exceptional and we tipped her accordingly. I reserved an overnight stay then asked for our Thanksgiving dinner reservation. None was available! Post my begging we scored a bad kids table in a remote corner. The bed in Baxter's suite is hard - beds in other rooms we have used were not.

Unfortunately, we did not have a great experience. Went for Sunday morning brunch and we will not be going back.
The food served to us was cold, including the soup. When sent back, it was obviously microwaved to warm it up. My wife noticed two entree platters just sitting on a tray when she went to the restroom which indicates why our food was cold, as the staff was late to serve the food when hot.
My eggs Benedict lacked flavor and color; the presentation was poor and unappetizing. My wife's crab cakes looked deep fried and lacked any lump crab meat; it was pink inside and fishy. Our entire

A gorgeous view of the river along with a very historic building. The food here was amazing, I got the salmon sandwich which was one of the best things I have eaten in a while. The service was pretty slow though, so not a very fast place to eat, this may be from the workforce shortage tho so I can't fault them too much. Overall the food was great but very pricy.

Our daughter got married at the Black Bass Hotel this weekend. I just had to share our positive experience. The staff was perfect from the front office to the servers to the custodians. Everything was done right and ran like clockwork. They were exceptionally accommodating to any and all requests. The rooms and suites were amazing. I’d recommend the Black Bass to anyone without hesitation.

The view and restaurant itself are both very nice. I wish the food was just as good. I had quiche - it was a totally frozen crust, not even close to made from scratch. Sad, it doesn't take much to make a delicious quiche. Everyone at our table agreed. Very small portions and over-priced, mediocre food.

We had a wonderful 13 year Black Bass veteran that clearly loved working here. The food was delicious and the food was great. We enjoyed a private room overlooking the Delaware. I've had a delicious brunch at the Black Bass years ago with family our rehearsal dinner back in 2005. Still as delicious and charming as ever.

Our party of four arrived slightly more that the allowed thirty minutes after calling twice for detour directions. We were met at the door by Julia who later identified herself as " the manager". She could not have been more unpleasant or inept at diner relations and was woefully ill equipped to resolve our concerns with any grace or professionalism. When the first person encountered at a "fine dining establishment" is repugnant, it sets the scene for the entire experience. This, coupled with inedible braised short ribs, rounded out our evening.

Came here with my wife on a dreary early October mid-morning to experience the lunch/brunch menu and scenic view of the river. The location and facilities are fantastic. It's located right on the Delaware River and there is a pedestrian bridge that spans the river connecting to a park in New Jersey. There is also access to the Delaware Canal towpath if you feel so inclined to take a stroll shore side.
We sat outside which is a lower level than the main dining area. I would recommend the main dining area unless it's an absolutely gorgeous day because you are higher up and have a better

We had a wonderful dinner last night celebrating a birthday and spent the night in a beautiful room at your hotel! We have had so many great experiences over the years enjoying your hotel, dinners, Sunday brunches and special events. Even with your staffing shortage our weekend was outstanding. We love this hotel and restaurant and hope you get through this labor crisis quickly that’s impacting so many businesses.

A really nice place. Good service and meals are above average. The river view is great. Valet parking is a plus. The area was hit hard by storms and navigating to the place is very challenging. A note to that effect along with some suggested alternative routes on the web page would have been very appropriate. The omission was inescapable.

We stayed at Black Bass last week. Had a fabulous dinner in dining room and our waitress Liz was fantastic. We were awoken at 6:15 am with blaring fire alarm which was quite
frightening. Since no one was on the premises my husband went downstairs and
I called 911. There was no.fire just a faulty system which we heard happens often. Upon checkout not one word was said to us no apology. I called when we got home expressing our feelings thinking perhaps someone might gives us a call but nothing. Not good business.

COVID OUTBREAK!!
Why is the Bass still allowed to be open following a COVID outbreak among its staff in late August?
Did they contact customers that might have been put at risk?
Why don't they require their staff to be vaccinated?
Totally irresponsible!
Where is the State's department of health to protect the public??

This review serves only as a review of an experience renting the downstairs room/patio for a wedding dinner.
Long story short - don't rent this space. How rude of staff to repeatedly turn off/down music over an hour before the end of an event. Food was average - most complained about over cooked tuna, soggy lamb chops and wait staff was rude. The wait staff had a bad attitude from minute one and were argumentative every step of the way.
Was not my party, but I would be FURIOUS if I rented a venue and the staff reacted to people dancing by turning down the music, closing down the bar and

Attended the Father's Day Brunch ($50 pp) and found food disappointing. Tasteless crepe appetizer, lackluster bread basket. They ran out of french toast by noon, I asked if other bread was available since challah was out, but did not accommodate. Chocolate dessert had driest cake ever. Some entrees came with a lot of food, others hardly any. Was super surprised to see charges for juice on the bill. Being pregnant I asked to substitute the champagne and was charged for each glass of juice. Store bought juice is much cheaper than champagne, you'd think it would be substituted. Yet others

Horrible service. Called a couple minutes after 3pm to see if they were serving and how long the wait was. Let them know I was about 1/2 hour away. Arrived to location host was arrogant. Hostess out looked us up and down rolled her eyes and said they weren't serving anyone between lunch and dinner., Told her I had called in before arriving and asked if the number on my phone was theirs. She said "yes it is but I don't know who you spoke with." and again rolled her eyes. I had my two kids with me and she suggested I sit at the bar and laughed. Maybe lock down has her social skills

I stayed at the black bass hotel for 1 night in the Grover Cleveland suite, and had dinner there as well. It is in a very cute and quaint town, tucked away. The room is nice with a hugeeee bathroom, blah foot tub and large shower. The bedroom has a working fire place and a comfy bed. We are here for a special occasion and unfortunately that wasn't acknowledged by the staff to make it special in any way. We also found a couple bees in our room upon arrival, and unfortunately this room seems to be one of the only rooms without a balcony. It was nice to not have to drive and go right downstairs

First off, the food here is some of the best I've ever eaten in my life. We had the horseradish stuffed bacon wrapped shrimp and ended up ordering a second order of it! I then had the coconut curry fish, and had just got done telling my waitress that this was the best meal I had ever eaten at a restaurant in my life when my fiancé proposed! Absolutely one of the best nights of my life, with or without the life event!
We had a table right by the water overlooking the lit up bridge, the atmosphere here is second to none. Can not WAIT to be back again!

We had the most lovely anniversary dinner right on the water July 15th. All the Covid precautions were taken and our server Liz was phenomenal. We only wish we had room for dessert after all we ate.
We started with the Chilled Ocean Trio which was to die for! Then moved into to the summer peach salad. For our mains we had the Charleston Meeting Street Crab and the Seared Swordfish. The atmosphere only enhanced the incredible meal with a beautiful sunset. Liz was just lovely and made our special day so enjoyable!

This is a review for the RESTAURANT - not the hotel.
The restaurant is in a very beautiful location. We got there early and since there isn't much around, we walked across the bridge and enjoyed the beautiful views of the water. It was really wonderful.
Every staff member we came in contact with during dinner - hostess, wait staff, etc were all extremely friendly and gracious.
Food - was really a "3" but I'm bumping up a star for the 2 things I mentioned above.
Free bread - really, really bad. Sets a bad tone. It was a mix of biscuits and another type of bread - both LOOK
