Services
After nearly 20 years of owning and operating a medical transcription business, Lydia was ready for a change! Having a love for all things culinary, she returned to school to become a trained chef. That, along with her passion for travel and meeting new people, led to her career as an Innkeeper. Lydia spends her spare time (of which there is little) dreaming up breakfast creations.
The Opdyke Room features a queen-sized four-poster bed and overlooks the back and side gardens as well as the red frame barn and original stone smokehouse. Guests will wake up to the sound of birds frequenting the bird feeders in the gardens below. The Opdyke Room includes an en-suite bathroom with a tub/shower and the original washbasin sink.
Locals in the Princeton area beg us to open our doors for breakfast, but that luxury belongs only to our overnight guests! Lydia rarely repeats a breakfast, and if she does, it is by special request. Each feast includes a hot entree like the ones pictured below, along with a fresh fruit and yogurt parfait made with our homemade Glencairn Granola.
A Whole Lot of Romance: Dazzle your darling with a Half-bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne and four jumbo hand-dipped chocolate strawberries. Just a Little Romance: Skip the bubbles and tempt your sweetie with four jumbo hand-dipped chocolate strawberries. Artisanal Cheese Plate for Two: Artisanal cheese, crackers, and fruit await your arrival.
What do you think of when you hear "business travel?" If you are most business travelers, you think of nondescript hotels, often located on busy interstates with generic furnishings and rubbery mass produced "eggs" for breakfast. The Inn at Glencairn has changed that image of business travel for the lucky professionals who have walked through our doors.

Lydia is a wonderful Inn Keeper, creating truly amazing breakfasts and full of helpful tips in the area. The rooms were spacious (better than shown in many of the photos) and the history of the place was an added intrigue. Highly recommended. One note is that access to the rooms is by stairs, pretty steep - something I tried to find out by looking at the room descriptions on the website.

The hospitality shared by Lydia made my Christmas stay at the Inn even more merry. Her epicurean breakfast feast was a delight, and her warm welcoming manner is reason enough to return. Thanks to the Covid protocols implemented, I felt quite safe. Thank you, Lydia!

We had such a great weekend stay in Princeton at the Inn at Glencairn. Lydia is a wonderful woman who knows the true meaning on hospitality. She made us feel welcome from check in to check out. The Inn is just a few miles from downtown Princeton so it was easy to head in for shopping and dinners. We can't wait to return!

We had a fabulous stay at the Inn at Glencairn! The room we stayed in was gorgeous, and much bigger than we thought it would be from the pictures on the website. And breakfast was fabulous. Even with my food allergies, we had a hearty, delicious meal. We can't recommend it highly enough!

The Inn is beautiful with such an interesting history! The building and property are gorgeous and really makes you feel like you've travel through time. Sipping on wine in the great room in front of the giant fire place, listening to the rain on the window... what a dream! Lydia is a fantastic cook. The breakfast was phenomenal, I didn't know eggs could be so good! Lydia is also a great resource for things to do in the area, and there is no shortage of food or sights! We will certainly be back.

We have stayed at Glencairn several times during every season over the last four years while my daughter attended college nearby. We are enthralled with the inn and it's history. It is a comfortable, quiet and cozy place to stay in all seasons. Lydia is an amazing innkeeper who greets you with friendly hospitality and cooks a breakfast you will remember forever. Once we ordered a special dinner for a special occasion and we are still talking about it. The sitting areas, with tea, coffee and wine provide for an evening of relaxation and conversation. My daughter has graduated now, but we may

This was our third stay at the Inn where lovely Lydia is the Innkeeper. It's a quiet, restful, comfortable place where great attention is paid to thoughtful amenities and beautiful, delicious breakfasts. Coffee, tea and an assortment of red wines are complimentary and always available. The beds are comfy and the bed linens wrap you in luxurious softness.

The Inn is located near Princeton, NJ with its many fine restaurants and the lovely university campus to explore. Even closer to the Inn is the village of Lawrenceville. Our favorite cafe is Vidalia with a lively outdoor seating area and

We cannot say enough about this lovely B&B located in the heart of Mercer County, N.J. minutes from wonderful restaurants and the cultural sites and resources of Princeton. Our room was cozy and comfortable and breakfast was out of this world. Probably the best aspect of our stay was innkeeper Lydia. Her priority was to make sure we enjoyed our stay to the fullest without being intrusive.

This is an adorable quaint spot where my boyfriend and I visited and celebrated our 1 year anniversary. Lydia was lovely- hospitable and helpful and her breakfast was AMAZING! Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate for us to completely enjoy the property, but we did spend a cozy night in the barn drinking wine and playing Scrabble :) I would love to return for a weekend getaway. I highly recommend!

Still missing this place! We stayed at the inn July 2016 coming from Florida to visit family and friends. Loved the history and beauty of the inn. So comfortable and homey plus Lydia is fabulous! Her breakfasts are to die for! Not to mention while we were there we were also celebrating our 10 year anniversary and Lydia made an amazing dinner and… dessert for us in the barn. Wine, candlelight and such a beautiful setting! We plan to stay at the inn every time we go up from now on...unfortunately not frequent enough! Can't forget to mention the sheets... they were the softest sheets ever!

We've stayed at the Inn three times: twice in the Hunt room and once in the Gulick. The Hunt has the only king-sized bed. Both rooms are spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated. Lydia, the Inn keeper is very nice, accommodating, and one hell of a chef! The house and common areas are also nicely decorated and contain lots of great art by local artists, snacks, wine, and tea/coffee. The grounds are gorgeous and reminiscent of days gone bye. A perfect weekend getaway!

Must make time to sit down and fully enjoy breakfast that's prepare by Lydia, it's amazing! While you will be living in a house that's 250+ yrs, it has all the modern amenities you will need: hot shower, wifi, super soft bedsheets and pillows etc. At night you can wind down over a red in the family room. Overall it's a small inn with 5 bdrms but gives you that home away from home feeling. Special note though, it's an old house thus sound barrier is minimum thus must keep the noise down at night. Super close to Lawrenceville and Princeton

I really went into this with blind trust. Being from NYC my standards for accommodations are higher than most and my food ratings could seem brutal to some. The pictures of the Inn, in their site, were elegant and Lydia was on her game when I booked. I was trusting her! She shared with me that she was a chef and that if I wanted, she could provide,… as an Inn guest, a special private Chef dinning experience in the onsite barn! This is where the trust really came in. She said she was a very good chef and could design a 3 course meal with me... I'm thinking, alone in a barn with twinkly lights

My mother and I stayed here over New Year's Eve. It was just the cozy, quaint, charming winter experience I was hoping for. Patty and Mason were so kind and accommodating, and we loved ringing in the New Year with them. Patty is a great cook and breakfast was a treat. Mason knows a lot about the history of the place, which I love hearing about.

We were staying in the Opdyke room (not confident about the spelling), which is Room #1. It had an original water basin from when the house was built hundreds of years ago. My only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer, which was an us problem
