Dr. Chung completed his Bachelor's Degree in Economics at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and then went on to receive his Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, California. He completed his clinical training at the San Diego NavalHospital, Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital in Arizona, and the University EyeCenter at Los Angeles.

We truly believe in routine eye examinations so that you can see as clearly as possible. Once you have to get glasses or contacts, it is even more important to watch the health of your eyes.

Very pleased with my first meeting with Dr. Chung who is young, upbeat and charismatic and can make you feel at ease immediately. He was very thorough and explained everything to me to my satisfaction. The staff was incredibly helpful and catered to my needs giving me the best experience ever in selecting the eyewear I needed. Definitely recommending Focal Optometry under Dr. Chung and his wonderful staff! Thank you so much.

If you're like me, then you dread going to any sort of doctor's office, however Dr. Chung and his staff made the visit quick, painless and easy. They are conveniently located in the heart of Mira Mesa, in the H-Mart plaza, next to Kebab shop. There is ample parking near their entrance. The staff was welcoming and helped me right away. All the equipment looked new and freshly sanitized. I appreciated that the staff wore masks and kept everything sanitized. I brought up concerns about wearing my daily contacts for longer periods and Dr. Chung explained to me the risks and made sure to answer all

Focal Optometry crew is hands down awesome. I had a really pleasant experience yesterday when I had my eye check up with Dr. Allen Chung. He was very compassionate and thorough, explained everything step by step. He used new technology I’ve never seen with my previous eye doctors before. Very impressive.

This is my second year visiting Focal Optometry and (as an update to my first review from July 2020) I am still very happy with the service and professionalism of Dr. Chung and his team. The appointment was not rushed and the exam was very thorough. As an added bonus, they were able to accommodate me same day with a different appointment time due to a last minute conflict. Thank you!

Dr. Chung was not only an expert in eye care and knowledge, but was super friendly. He answered all my questions not just about me, but even gave me tips and things to look out for for my newborn. He did not rush the appointment, instead took his time to make sure I understood all the things they did with the different technologies. The staff also provided great customer service and worked with my budget! I’m so happy I can say I won’t have to be changing my eye doctor every year, I’ll be coming here instead.

If you're looking for a highly skilled optometrist and a great selection of the latest/coolest glasses, this is definitely the place to go. I was due for an eye exam and new glasses/contacts and Dr. Chung went above and beyond my expectations.
For my routine eye exam, Dr. Chung took the time to explain in detail everything that's going on with my eyes and what preventative care habits I should adopt to take better care of myself. The office is also equipped with a much more modern set of machines and equipment than all the optometry offices I've gone to prior to coming here.
