Kavannah Yoga
In the Jewish tradition, kavannah is the spiritual practice of fully focusing one's soul at the task at hand. It is the art of cultivating deep intention. Certain classes also incorporate chanting, sound healing, and yogic sleep training. At Kavannah Yoga, all students are welcome. We particularly invite those who may have felt unwelcome or uneasy in other yoga classes.

This includes men, seniors, those with arthritis, and those with challenging physical or mental health conditions. Howard is a yoga instructor with 20 years of teaching experience. Yoga has been one of the most important and transformative forces in his life. He is passionate about sharing its physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits with others, especially those for whom yoga has seemed foreign or intimidating.
Services
Here in the U.S., aging can be stressful. Seniors may feel out of place in our youth-oriented society or out of touch with the realities of today's fast-paced high-tech world. In India, the birthplace of Yoga, growing older is viewed differently. Older people are venerated for their wisdom and life experience.
In this traditional, gentle "slow flow" yoga class, each posture is held long enough to reap physical and energetic rewards. As we age, we may begin to develop new physical, emotional, and spiritual issues. Yoga is particularly well suited to help practitioners meet the challenges of aging.

This class adapts postures, meditation, chanting, and Sound Healing to the special needs of older adults, including those with physical or cognitive limitations.Remember: Nobody is "too old" or "too frail" to participate. I invite you to use your silver and golden years to increase physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
