A child with an anxiety disorder cannot be comforted or reassured to get past his or her fear and anxiety. Understanding the types of anxiety disorders your child may have is key to getting them the proper treatment plan to help them overcome their fears and disorders.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder: Children and teens with generalized anxiety experience chronic excessive anxiety about multiple areas of their lives, which may include school, family, social situations, health, and natural disasters.Children and teens with generalized anxiety disorder may be very hard on themselves and strive for perfection.
We provide treatment services for children, adolescents and young adults with a wide range of psychological, behavioral and social difficulties. Our staff have specialized training and experience which allows us to quickly identify, target and prioritize specific problem areas. Early identification and intervention is key when working with kids.
For parents with children age 8 or older or who are not appropriate for PCIT, behavioral parent management training (PMT) aims to change the behavior of parents by teaching effective methods to improve their child's behavior problems (such as aggression, hyperactivity, temper tantrums, and difficulty following directions).
Cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT) with children and teens can be a fun and collaborative process. Kids are usually above the age of 7 and to some extent motivated to discuss their difficulties, such as anger, anxiety, low self esteem, sadness, or challenges with friends.

Usually a short-term treatment (often 6-20 sessions), CBT focuses on ways that a person's thoughts, emotions, body sensations and behaviors are connected, and how they affect one another. For example, thoughts about a certain situation can often affect how you feel; both physically and emotionally, as well as, how you react in response.
