We offer advanced diagnostics such as ultrasound, echocardiograms, digital radiology, and endoscopy.
Services
Dr. Gary Selmonsky, DVM, opened the doors of East Bay Veterinary Hospital back in 1988, and has been providing excellent pet care to the dogs, cats, birds and other exotic pets of Merrick, New York ever since! As animal lovers, our veterinarians understand and embrace the relationship between you and your furry and scaly friends.
Barbara has been an employee of East Bay Veterinary Hospital since 1986. Over the years she has held many positions but being at the front desk is what brings her the most pleasure. She has the privilege of knowing some of the clients since they were quite young and seeing them come in now as adults with children and puppies of their own.
East Bay Veterinary Hospital is dedicated to providing high quality veterinary care for dogs and cats of every age. As animal lovers, we understand the special bond that you share with your family pet. We are committed to helping you play an active role in your pet's healthcare, and have a number of educational resources for our clients.
Our philosophy is that wellness care is the key to keeping your dog healthy and happy. That's why our veterinarians suggest an annual or biannual wellness exam, depending upon your dog's physical health, age and medical needs. Annual wellness exams are generally recommended for adult dogs, and allow us to keep your pet healthy through vaccines, heartworm testing, parasite protection, and nutritional counseling.
The lifetime of love and strong bond you will share with your dog begins the day you bring your puppy home. Getting a puppy is an exciting time but there are certain essentials you will need to know to ensure your new puppy remains healthy. We are your best partner in helping you keep your puppy healthy so he or she grows into the most wonderful dog they can be.

Despite living in Queens, my cat and I landed at East Bay due to extenuating circumstances. Dr. Waters is extremely kind, thorough, compassionate, and professional, responsive to phone calls and emails, and the kind of vet who you can only hope to find for your babies. My dealings with Dr. Maltese and Dr. Selmonsky, although more limited, were equally positive. The office always managed to squeeze me into their busy schedule, and was easy to deal with. I can't speak highly enough of Dr. Waters and the entire East Bay practice.

I switched to East Bay Vet last year and couldn't be happier with Dr. Maltese. She is very kind and is passionate about her work. I have also had my dog examined by Dr. Semylansky and he is an excellent and thorough doctor. The staff is great as well!

I followed Dr. Waters to East Bay from another practice. You will not find a more compassionate and knowledgeable veterinarian for your furbaby. Dr. Waters cared for my late cocker spaniel and came to our home as we sent her to the rainbow bridge. I'm forever grateful for her bedside manner in such a difficult moment.
My new cocker spaniel pup is under her care and I know he is in the best hands!

Critical: Responsiveness
No new clients being taken at this time. I was just told. Needed a parrots toenails clipped and beak trimmed. This way it saves people time if the are new and looking for a vet in the area.

Very good, competent, and caring service. Everyone is respectful and courteous. I travel from 4 towns over and pass 4-5 vets to come to East Bay. Vets are not cheap, so consider insurance. It helps to lighten the cost for a major event.
