New Amsterdam resident Jan Peeck made the first recorded contact with the native tribal people of this area, then identified as "Sachoes, " possibly the early 1640s. The word "kil" is derived from "stream" in Dutch and "Peeck's Kil" became the recognized name for this locale, later Americanized to "Peekskill."
The Inn on the Hudson, formerly known as The Peekskill Inn, is located in the heart of the scenic and historic Hudson Valley. We offer 53 comfortable rooms with panoramic views of the Hudson, including several rooms with private terraces. We ask that you contact front desk for replenishments and they will be delivered to your room.
I travel about 12-15 days of the month and obviously stay in a lot of hotel rooms. I have stayed here once before two years ago and my stay was not the most pleasant. What a difference two years makes. The management has made some positive changes not only to the exterior of the hotel but started renovating the rooms.

Complimentary wireless Internet access keeps you connected, and the 32-inch flat-screen TV offers free movies. A microwave and a refrigerator are supplied. If I could give 0 stars, I would. First off, the rooms are small, my lock was broken, and it reeked of pee. I also noticed that my room was not vacuumed, as there was dog hair all over the floor and long black hair, which is certainly not mine because I am blonde. The bed was hard and stiff, it squeaked with every move. My toilet didn't flush, and when I notified the woman at the front desk of this issue, she informed me that everyone had already gone home for the day. I asked her what I should do and she told me she'd call me back. As I waited 20 minutes for her to call me back... that

#1 not updated as other rooms I have stayed in here. #2 tub enclosure cracked and not sealed, #3 tv was on had to unplug and reset after front desk needed to set up appointment to come to my room #4 ROACH CRAWLING THE WAL And NO RESTAURANT NEARBY. The view was great but not worth the money. Several years ago the new owner started redoing the rooms which was great. Seems he/she stopped. Never coming back as a Peekskill born and bred visitor. Peekskill Motor in started to improve but somehow failed.

All the negative reviews here are accurate. This is by far one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The only thing going for them is the view of the Hudson. They need to upgrade and revamp all the rooms. There was a cigarette hole in one of the blankets, the shower looked re-caulked due to mold.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Regardless of the reviews from other sites, don't stay here. Not even worth 10% of the $ 200 they charged me.
Small room with no room to move.
Closet about 12" wide in the corner.
Bathroom sink did not drain and We could not brush our teeth or shave...had to use bathtub.
Could NOT shower, the shower diverter did not work.
Found dead bugs in the bathroom.
They DO NOT have breakfast.
You will be kept awake at regular intervals by the whistle of train passing by and the by turning on and off every few minutes of the A/C/heating unit located below the window about 3 feet

We arrived to a filthy room, $199/night, tub works, but shower wouldn’t divert. Had to wash hair on my knees, called the office to find out that we were stupid and didn’t know how to work it. I have owned and operated a hardware store for 30 years, I probably understand the working operation of a tub spout diverter better than most. Television said call the main desk, was not operational, head of the bed was broken. We were in the area to see our son at West Point with many other families. Do yourself a favor and never stay there!

This place has some history, I believe its original opening in 1957 or some time in the mid 50's. I imagine it was great back in the day.
It is now very dated, it has great views, although the inn itself is dated, it seemed clean. It looks like they have done some painting to keep it clean.
I did notice the room next door had the tv going, and I could hear it clearly in my room, so not very sound proof.
Its in a very convenient location, we had a wedding to attend at Dramatic Hall 10/23/2021, it took us about 7 minutes to walk there.
The price I paid $189 not including taxes and fees for one

WHAT A NIGHTMARE. It's taken me a few weeks to post this review because it's terrifying to think of reliving it!
We were headed to town from the Midwest for my uncles celebration of life. We booked this hotel for around $260 a night; Thursday, Friday and Saturday. This was my first time traveling since COVID, so I wanted to confirm they had proper cleaning protocols. The night before arrival, I called to ask about their cleaning procedures and the woman at the front desk kept telling me she couldn't find our reservation (Lie) (which is a common thing at this hotel by the way

I don't typically write Google reviews, but this was the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. While the people working the front desk are nice, the quality of the hotel is so poor, I felt both my health and safety in jeopardy.
My room was in the back of the hotel, where I had to take a staircase crusted with dirt and dust. My room had a wasp infestation, with more than a dozen wasps flying and crawling around. So much of the furniture had a thick layer of dust over it. While I'd been told that I could not check in early because the rooms needed to be cleaned, I first entered my supposedly "clean"

Pretty typical roadside inn! Love the Schitt's Creek description from another reviewer. Not bad for the price but do expect some hiccups! This place could really be a neat place and looks like they are trying to update rooms with only a paint job. Too bad because the place has potential. The first thing I noticed were the wood floors. I was very happy there was not gross, dingy hotel carpet. Bathrooms are still dated, shelving and blow dryer falling off the wall. Shower door came off tracks and after 10 minutes of messing with it I finally got back in the tracks. Some outlets do not work

This hotel is a dump! The bathroom ceiling tiles were stained and chipped. The constant squeaky noise in the bathroom ceiling or walls was not corrected when I reported it. Lampshades we’re torn. Mildew in bathrooms. The had no maintenance or management on the weekend and refused to call on them. No River or mountain views in 90 % of the rooms. Everything was old and worn. Checked out early and found a lovely hotel elsewhere. Manager never called with follow up as we requested. They just don’t care.

Booked this location in hopes of a nice relaxing weekend amidst work craziness. It ended up being the opposite. As soon as we arrived, they attempted to not allow me to check in for a good 20 minutes, but would not allow me to speak with their manager further about the issue. The room was very simple with nothing fancy, not even a blanket for the bed. It was not advertised to be much more so this did not shock me. However, later in the night, we were disturbed by someone attempting to break into our room. We called the front desk and they did nothing to help us. It was a terrifying night to say

Friendly staff, beautiful views, full of charm. I will be staying here for a week or more and really have nothing to complain about. The room we are in is clean and well kept, there are a few minor paint scuffs and repairs needed to the walls, there doesn't seem to be a working fan in the bathroom, but there is no mold or anything untoward due to this fact.
The patios on the second floor provide a wonderful view out over the Hudson river and if you're a bird watcher there are numerous song birds and birds of prey to see.
The pool is closed due to COVID-19 on this visit but that is understandable

Booked this place because it advertised they had a pool. Upon arrival we discovered that it's been broken for over a year and not in use because of Corona....
The location of this motel is next to a freeway, which we also discovered upon arrival. Luckily, you can't hear all the traffic l, however it's a bit desolated from town, so you have to walk a bit of ways for a restaurant, cafe etc...
Their "continental breakfast" consisted of a white doggy bag with a 8.oz bottled water, 1red apple, 1dry commercial muffin, and a granola
bar....
Last but not least - do hit the town

Do yourself a favor and sleep in your car. This place is OLD and falling apart. Sheets and towels are threadbare; you practically have to yank the plumbing fixture out of the wall to turn the shower on; the room has a funny smell; no space to walk around; peeling paint; rusted bathtub. NOTHING "quaint" about this place. I would give it a negative 10 rating if I could.

For all Schitt's Creek fans, this is as close to a true show fan experience you will ever get. From the dated lobby and quirky check in person, overgrown weeds as landscaping, Psycho Hotel Furniture, Sticky Bathroom Floors, Pool with no water, Doors that fall off the hinges, neighbors smoke billowing through the cracks of the windows, conversations overheard from each side wall, Car to Door Parking, Potholes and Cracked Black Top, Torn Awnings and possibly a haunting or two. This place has it all!!!

We stayed there two years ago and had great experiences. We came back last weekend and were very disappointed. It was in a rough condition, restaurant was closed, pool was covered, landscape wasn't maintained, there was trash in the grass. We walked the Main Street and it felt unsafe too. Won't be staying there again.

HORRIBLE AND DANGEROUS!!! The room was supposed to be ready at 11am but we had to wait until 3pm due to the staffs incompetence. While we were waiting a man jumps out of a car and bangs on the door of one of the tenants' doors screaming "give me my money or I'll put you in prison". The room was not clean, the bathtub wouldn't drain, the bed was creaking, and the neighbors were blasting music until 5am in the morning. Did I mention that most of the people live here full time and weren't hotel residents? A horrible, disgusting experience I wouldn't wish upon my

So disappointed in this place! We are visiting NY from Napa on a dual-purpose vacation. This is our honeymoon, and we are in Peekskill to scatter my mother's ashes in her hometown. I had not seen Peekskill since 1957, and we looked forward to this trip for a very long time.
We chose Inn on The Hudson because it's the first one we saw upon entering Peekskill on a late thunder-and-lightning night. I walk with a cane, and we had a lot of heavy baggage to carry. The night clerk said "no problem, the room's right at the top of the stairs."
No, it isn't. We had to haul
