Services
Discover Yoga was established in 1997 in the Stonehouse bookstore in Redmond. Since its inception, the teachers and staff have been committed to serving our students through instruction of yoga postures, breathing and meditation techniques as well as the history and philosophy of Yoga. In the tradition of Sri Krishnamacharya, known as Viniyoga, our instructors have learned to adapt each class to the needs of the students.
Peace in the world starts with peace in oneself. If everyone lives mindfully, everyone will be more healthy, feel more fulfilled in their daily lives and there will be more peace. Once again Sarah invites you to join her at the beautiful Sleeping Lady Mountain Lodge in Leavenworth, Washington for an unforgettable weekend devoted to cultivating inner and outer peace, diving deep into self-care, and surrounding yourself with love.
This program explores the basic principles of Yoga, with emphasis on the unique principles of Viniyoga in asana, breath, meditation and sound. This program provides the students with an opportunity to experience the many benefits of Yoga. To be accepted into the program, you need at least one year of yoga experience, to be able to attend all of the training sessions, to complete homework and commit to a regular personal practice.
Sarah George became an owner of Discover Yoga in 2017 after teaching here since 2012. Sarah loves helping students find their own strength and peace through a balanced practice. She loves how a Viniyoga practice meets students right where they are, and offers a sustainable yoga practice that can carry them through all the stages of their life.
Kid Yoga is a program that teaches yogic principles to children in a fun and engaging way! Kid Yoga's purpose is to help children see the connection they share with each other, with the planet, and with the universe as a whole. We accomplish this by teaching the value of exercise and good nutrition, the power of creative visualization, and the importance of aligning body, mind, and spirit.

Came here for prenatal yoga and prenatal couples workshop. The prenatal yoga was awesome! Great for any skill level. They have everything you need to do the class there so you don't need to bring anything with you. You start the class by each saying your name, how many weeks along you are and how you're doing that week. I typically get anxious with this sort of thing but felt quite comfortable in this space. It was cool to hear about each other's pregnancies and what everyone was going through. It made me feel less alone. Tracy is a great instructor. She also did the prenatal couples

I just love it! I had been coming for 3 months for Prenatal Yoga Classes, just until my delivery. Amazing support, exercises, stretches, and relaxation. It helped me a lot with giving birth.
A little later I came back with my baby for the Infant Yoga Classes and Mini & Me Classes. It feels so great to stretch and gently strengthen my new mom's body, while having fun and bonding with the baby. I love the relaxed and supportive atmosphere of these classes, no judging or angry looks when babies cry.
Bonus points: Infant Yoga allowed me to practice leaving the house with my new baby on time and to

I love this studio. At first, I wasn't impressed since it's not your regular fancy yoga place that you would expect to see in Redmond and Bellevue. However, after my second class I fell in love with the atmosphere and classes. All of the teachers I've met there so far have shown their care, passion and dedication to their students success. And by "success" I mean learning to love yourself and being at peace with where you are. It's a beautiful experience!
I also love their Bingo program that motivates you to keep coming and gives you a chance to win free classes!

Friendly staff, nice studio, (and not warm or hot!)- an easy place to feel welcome and comfortable. Instructor checks in about any injuries before class starts to offer adaptations, and customizes the practice to accommodate requests. I like the circle formation of students around a lotus candle (instead of lined up in a grid facing the instructor). Viniyoga has always been my favorite: Yoga for Every Body, and movement paired with the breath. It can be as challenging or nurturing as you need. Wish it was in Kirkland, but other than that all my yoga dreams have come true!

Tracy is wonderful! She is really knowledgeable and open about the needs of pre and postnatal bodies. I have issues with my back and diastasis recti and in my private sessions with her, she created a custom routine for me to do at home.
The studio is also very much involved in the community and foster a very welcoming and no judgement culture.
My little one also loves the kid yoga sessions. Whenever I can, I try to go when they open it up to parents to be able to join.

Thank you Tracy & Angela for the pregnancy yoga classes!
They customize each class to the needs of their participants. Saturday’s can get pretty full. I preferred Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday classes. Not as crowded.
My last class before going into labor was with Angela. There were only two of us in the class...which was awesome! 48 hours later I went into labor at 38 weeks pregnant.

There is something for everyone - expectant mothers, seniors, professionals from all walks of life, family members including children & teens. The membership is diverse from all cultures & countries. There is a sense of community @ DY that keeps bringing me back. The instructors are friendly & classes are always at your own comfort level. The total experience is great for mind, body & soul! Awesome!

When I moved to Washington 4 years ago, I encountered so many challenges that I hadn't ever expected. As a long time practitioner of yoga before that, I knew I needed to find somewhere to practice. Discover yoga was my first studio in the area, but I never had to look past that.
The studio embodies a true meaning that yoga is for every body and goes above and beyond to create a safe place for all students to begin and explore yoga (whether beginning or a long time fan).
No matter your situation, DY invites you to begin with the breath, and explore your body with mindfulness. The studio

I regularly attend a Level 2 class here at Discover Yoga (full disclosure: I also teach at this studio, but not this class). The teacher, Kim, has a deep knowledge of asana, anatomy, and movement. In fact, she teaches the asana portion of the studio's teacher training program. Her classes are relaxed, yet challenging. She begins gradually, takes the class through a thorough warmup, until we can safely work on the challenges for the evening (in three years, I've never had an injury from this class). She often has a theme for the class but also skillfully weaves in requests from the students. The

I highly recommend the prenatal class at Discover Yoga. All throughout my pregnancy I made it a priority to stay as active as possible; prenatal yoga eventually became part of my exercise routine. It actually became my favorite part of the week. I mainly attended the saturday morning class instructed by Tracy. Tracy is an amazing teacher and is a natural at calming and also empowering the pregnant women she instructs. I gave birth drug-free at home earlier this week and I definitely associate my time in the class with helping me find my breath and my center during the hardest times of my labor

I am a mother baby nurse and it was awesome to hear from a new mom that she could not wait to get back to her yoga class. When I asked where she took yoga, I came to find out that we both love the classes at Discover Yoga in Redmond. Thankfully their classes appeal to all of us whether we are young or old. There is a specific class for everyone.

Loved it! I have been looking for a gentle yoga class forever. The 9:30 am class with Alison (owner) is just what the dr. ordered. The class sits in a circle and checks in with a one word answer to what do you want to work on today. Alison addresses each person by their first name around the circle. This bonds the class and helps people connect vs. just coming and going to a class. The class also does a check out, going around the room, addressed by first name, and says in a word how they feel. It again, connects the class - which is spiritually healing. The warmth of the room is just right. Not

I found Discover Yoga a few years ago when I was looking for a gentle yoga studio that also allowed for discussion of spiritual growth in addition to asana practice. Alison and her studio have been there for me along my journey toward a deepening yoga practice. The studio has been an important catalyst in my life; It is very comforting to have found a community of yogis that are loving, accepting and kind.
I sometimes hear from people that they are intimidated to go to a yoga class at a yoga studio, sometimes because they feel inflexible or not educated in the way of yoga. No one need fear the

I found Discover Yoga a year and a half ago and like it so much that I now go two or three times a week. I needed a yoga that was very inclusive of all abilities, not too fast-paced, because then I tend to overdo it and then get chronic strains and sprains. I always feel comfortable modifying what I need to modify, yet still have advanced a lot in my flexibility and abilities. The focus at Discover Yoga is on spine, breath, awareness of your own needs, and exploration. It's the kind of yoga more people should try if they are just starting out, or if they do plenty of athletic things in

I had a pretty difficult time finding pre-natal yoga classes that offered multiple classes at convenient times in the Eastside. Discover Yoga offers 4 a week!
The prices are reasonable, the instructors are sincere and likeable, and the classes are small (4-8 in my experience so far).
Mostly importantly, unlike another Yoga studio I tried, the instructors here don't make you go "ommmm" 3 times or make you share one thing you are thankful for with the class or say things like "look into the wisdom of your heart and let your inner light shine through"!

Pretty solid yoga class. Great for beginners. Plan to attend the advanced class if you've had previous experience. The morning class is not as challenging as I'd hoped.
The instructor was very kind and demonstrated positions for all skill levels.

Have only tried one class, but was pleased with it enough to wonder why this place has not been reviewed. Wish the floors were not carpet and that the studio wasn't so close to the music classes down the hall. Other than that, the instructor seems good and the cost of the classes reasonable.
Thank goodness they have more than one prenatal yoga class per week. I remember how tough it is to find one that fits your schedule and with the instructor that feels right for you. Good for mamas to be who are looking for classes on the Eastside.
Will update after trying more classes.
