Story Road Recycling
It's good for the bottle. It's good for the can. It's great for the Planet. For a quick process, please arrive with your recyclables separated, Glass also separated by colors of green amber and clear. Make sure all recyclables are dry and free of debris. Make sure your containers are whole and free of contaminants such as dirt, excessive liquid or other foreign substances.

If you are being paid by weight, make sure the load contains only eligible CRV beverage containers. State law requires recycling centers to pay California Redemption Value (CRV) refunds for loads that contain ONLY eligible CRV beverage containers. Non-CRV materials must be removed from the load, or the recycling center may reject the load or pay only the scrap value for the material.
Services
Drop & Go is our new service that allows you to conveniently drop-off your pre-sorted recyclables using our exclusive Reusable Bags. This service is only available before business hours and payment is processed the same day to help you avoid the lines. A one-time online registration will be required to take part in this service.

Stopped by here on Sunday 9/26, expecting it to be a slow day. Boy was I wrong! I ended up spending about an hour here haha.

I had about 2 barrels of plastic bottles to recycle, which came out to around $14 ish. So a rough estimate is 1 barrel = ~7 dollars give or take.

When you first arrive you have to place your bottles and recyclables into thse huge blue barrels. There are two lines. The right line is supposed to be an Express line for people who have 5 barrels or less to process and the left line is for any number of barrels. I hopped into the right line thinking it would be faster but

This place is small. Try to park in front or you will have to drag the bins to the line. When dragging your bins make she not to drop any cans, bottles, or glass because others will pick them up and sale it.

Came here on a Friday morning with my son and there was no line and vacant parking right in front of the blue bins when we arrived. We grabbed all our bags out and sorted the cans and bottles in the blue bins. Dragged the blue bins to the line and it was a fast process. They collect your bins and provide you with a receipt and you get cash after. Pretty good deal getting "free" money. We had 5 bins full and made $35.26.

Great service and my biggest tip is to come early in the morning on a weekday.

Keep an eye on all of your recyleables. You have to transfer all of your recyclable from bags to garbage bins then drag them over to the empoyees of the service. I had about half a bin full of aluminum that suddenly dissapperared. A supervisor got involved even went back to video surveillance, but not back far enough. I even had an employee help me who said I had the cans. I beleive they gave my cans to the previous customer. The reason; they called him back to give him another receipt. I even asked the cashier if that second eceipt was for aluminum she said yes. Bottom line I wasn't gonna

New to the area and this is by far one of the best recycling places ever. They have a hand wash station so you can clean up after dumping all those cans and bottles. They give you a ticket to check in, get service, and check out which is really efficient. The prices were also good and as long as you are inside before closing they will still take you. They also have a little shop with food, drinks, and sweets available as well. Definitely my only recycling place now!! They also take some alcohol bottles as well and places in Sacramento did not, which is also a plus.

Workers work well In labor, but not in dollars. One star is for difficulty to receive the right amount. Either they don't speak English or pretend not to know. Had to ask for correct quantity or accurate pay. It seems like they are cheating purposely or making mistakes too often. The phone rep was defensive, inpatient and unwilling to listen. Eventually, people will notice.

Cans, cans, cans, and some bottles is what we brought to Story Road Recycling yesterday and today. We recycle our soda cans, water bottles, and some glass bottles and it was worth it. One year of collecting equaled $300.00 give or take a couple of dollars.

TIPS
Come early to avoid the heat and line. Have your cans and bottles separated and ready to empty into their cans for quick and easy process.
It's best if 2 people come to get it done faster. One in line one emptying out the recyclables into the cans.

They work fast, the line moves quickly. I went there Sunday at 4pm and was out of there by 4:20.

Watchout though, I think they cheat.
I had 5 garbage cans of plastic bottles and 1 can of glass bottles. I had to run to my car real quick so I didn't get to watch them weigh the glass. The receipt said I had 31lbs total. It did not list the plastics and glass separately.

I've gone here twice now during covid and have been pretty happy with my experience with these folks.

The service is quick and easy...I also imagine pre/post covid they will reopen their express lines for less than 5 barrels which will help alleviate some of the concerns.

They even have a clean up station where you can wash your hands and water the flowers.

The main issue is with parking and when it's busy, there may be a long line with limited slots. I witnessed some folks who had parked down the road and walked their recycle in and other more aggressive customers who swooped parking

Honestly, during my first time coming here, right after it reopened, I was rather intimidated to go to this place, due to the sketchy surrounding area but I've gotten accustomed to the area and process of taking my recyclables there. I usually try to get there early, preferably during the time it opens, since it tends to get busy later.

However, it was quick and simple, and a lot of the staff are incredibly kind and helpful. This became my go-to for redeeming my cans, plastics, and glass bottles.

When parking there, it's a bit of a toss up between parking in the sketchy areas or in

Helped a friend take a truck load of plastics to this recycling center. The staff worked effortlessly to keep the line moving. My issue was the undisciplined parking lot and long car lines were frustrating. I never realized how much work it took to take these plastic bottles to get recycled.
I have a new found empathy for people who must do this to make a living. My advice is to take hand wipes because you will be touching dirty recycle bins and the wash station had neither soap or dry towels.

Have been going for 5+ years. Went there to recycle my cans and bottles. First time I have been there since they re-structured the property. No parking lot (every one park's everywhere) very confusing, very congested, no organization, hard to get in and out. Waited for 45 minutes in line. Personnel were very nice. I will find a different place to go

They seem to have something against recycling by count. I would typically bring in 50 glass bottles (divided by color) and 80% of the time they give me some reason not to take it. Most of the time they would frown and mumble something. I do not speak Spanish so I do not know what they are saying but I can tell from the tone and gesture they are not happy.

Today they took my bottles, wrote down what ever number they pulled out the air and short changed me. I tried to argue with reason and photo evidence but they would not listen to any of it. It ended simply when someone inside the office said

I been here once about 3 weeks ago and I do not like the fact that they do not except all materials. They do not take milk cartons, apple juice bkttles, shampoo bottles, and landuary bottles because as they have told me, it is not recyclable and there is no recycle sign on them. I even ask them if they are sure and they do not take it. They will end up taking it out and not accept it. So pretty much you won't get money for it. I would give it 1 star but 2 seems reasonable

I went today which is 5/31/20 and went to recycle my things. There was a black bin where you can throw away the bags you had. So I did that, the lady tells me to pick up my trash, the black bin wasn't even there any more. So she took almost all my money away for something that wasn't even mine. Wouldn't recommend going there, bunch of thief's.

This place reopened again but with new management and new rules. So it will take us all a while to get in the groove of things; staff and guests alike.
I posted the hours since they are so frequent minus their lunch closure. Which is good because this is a hard job! Glad they get a lunch unbothered.

I will say they have the workers attempting to direct traffic in the parking lot; that is not very good at all. I think someone should be assigned to doing this position solely because cars come in all day long and I had to move my car twice. But had someone told me where to go the first time, this

The service is great! When In need of help the workers are there and they're easy to find cause of their uniforms unlike other recycling centers where they're very unorganized and filthy. Storyroad is the place to be! :) #changingrecycling
