Hi I'm Jess Jennings and I founded Ma Yoga in 2009 because I loved being part of a community of moms-to-be when I was pregnant, and I longed to have a continuation of that support once I became a mom. Our community of yoga teachers, birth and mom practitioners, mom and moms-to-be has been there for over 15,000 mamas so far!
Ma Yoga is a strengthening, therapeutic, and transformative yoga for moms and moms-to-be rooted in alignment with our highest Self. When we come from authenticity, from something bigger than our ego, our will, or comparing ourselves with others, we become the Mom we want to be.
The word "Ma" in Sanskrit, the ancient language of yoga, as well as most languages, refers to "mother": the powerful, nurturing flow of energy that we all have within us - our greatest potential as a human being, the most expansive love, and deepest strength that we know of.Yoga teaches us that it is all there within us, always ready to be experienced and enjoyed.

In Prenatal Yoga, we take time out to connect to our bodies and our growing baby by using our breath and our attention, so that we can have moments of realizing the hugeness of what is happening our lives. Yoga helps us make the most of our 9 months, so that we are fully prepared to be the mother we want to be.
As a prenatal teacher since 2001, a lifestyle educator, transformational group facilitator and teacher trainer, Jessica believes passionately that the way we step into our power and wisdom is by learning how to nurture ourselves. For her Masters in Exercise science, Jessica developed and ran a group visit and prenatal yoga program at Kaiser Permanente.
Ma Yoga teachers got together to offer Prenatal Yoga and Mom Yoga in Southern California out of a desire to support women on the exciting and sometimes isolating journey to motherhood and beyond. More than 18,000 mamas have come through our classes, receiving guidance, support, and inspiration.
In addition to their 200-hour teacher training, our yoga instructors have all completed the 85-hour RPYT Ma Yoga Teachedfr Certification Program, which is a deep dive into yoga for women: therapeutic alignment for women's changing bodies; common physical and psychological conditions in pregnancy and postpartum; labor preparation and postpartum healing; and nourishing routines for busy moms.
