I worked here for a very, very short time. I didn’t even want to complete training.
Management had all taken the holiday off, leaving multiple new people to train the newer people. I was one of the newer ones. We were so incredibly short staffed, and yet management still took the time off to have their holiday with their families. While employees had to figure out what we were even doing. I was so lost, and the first person who trained me tried to send me on my own to care for these residents. I didn’t know what I was doing or how to properly care for so many people. The facility completely smells like urine very very bad. My mother continues to tell me the food they feed her is hardly edible. She does not get her meds on time. Overall the facility is rough. I looking for other options because my mother hasn’t had any health problems until she came to this place. And they also gave her covid. Just very unsanitary and unprofessional. The RCC also never answers his phone.

I worked here a few years ago. They only care about the money and not the staff or residents. They only really care about residents that are private pay. But even that's not true because they would put them and the staff in danger just so they could keep the resident there. For whatever reason they did not want to use hoyer's (machines that can be used to life you to and from bed to chair without any lifting or residents help.) So they had one resident that was really heavy and who's legs would give out, leading to multiple injuries. Also another resident who used a sit to stand (divice used to

Terrible. My Grandfather is neglected when he calls for help. He pulls the cord and they take forever. His eye medication which he is supposed to take 3 times a day isnt done for days. Same with his physical therapy, days without.
When he talks they interupt and ignore him. They dont listen to his concerns and questions about his medication.
Was knocked over by a worker there who was in a rush and almost fell!
His hearing aid wound up broken and nobody knows anything. They go cheap on the food and oxygen tanks.
RUDE staff when i call. Everyone seems inpatient there. This is one of the most

My mother lived at Firwood Gardens for her last four years and she and I liked this place from the very first moment when we spotted a resident with long hair and a Grateful Dead t-shirt. The staff is competent and knows how to be there for the residents without being overly intrusive. I especially want to thank Peggy at the front desk, Pat the medical director, and Calvin the activities director and court jester. The other residents also kept an eye out for mom and would fill me in on her latest deeds both good and bad. Mom and I both loved the down-to-earth atmosphere there and she was relieved
